Not quite January yet, but the weather warnings continue. Generally a mild outlook to come, though of course parts of Scotland will see more wintry weather on and off.

You're more than welcome Not Smile

Tomorrow in the south it's going to be very blowy, with near gales. I expect this might take down the odd tired tree here and there. A proper March day.

You were right as usual OYBBK. Really blustery in NW London currently. Damage to garden buildings and trees. I'm hoping it eases off by the afternoon.🤞

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/03/2023 09:53

Despite me knowing what to expect today, I still forgot to tidy away yesterdays gardening efforts. I came downstairs this morning to everything scattered over the garden everywhere. Grin

Belatedly in my opinion, the Met Office have issued a warning for todays wind.

'Tis quite windy here (Leicester) so we're under the warning. It was rather wet as well earlier but it's brightened up now. FosterDog's morning walk was abandoned after a few minutes - he was not impressed with the weather!

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 13/03/2023 10:41

NDN at the back has lost a fence panel. It's not even that windy here in Cheshire. More a stiff breeze.

justasking111 · 13/03/2023 14:57

Was on an industrial estate this morning the metal roof and sides of the units were groaning in the high winds. I couldn't get my car door open the wind was pushing it shut. So glad to get out of there.

For the last three weeks a couple of magpies have been building a nest in a tall conifer at the end of my garden. Its just been blown out of the tree. I thought I might be able to resituate it but its actually too big for me to lift and I don't suppose they'd want it after I touched it anyway.
I know its ridiculous but I am really annoyed on their behalf.
Had to stick wood in my bins to keep them in place.

justasking111 · 13/03/2023 19:56

Stopped for a squirrel tearing across the road today, suspect his home had been affected.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/03/2023 21:34

Poor magpies!

The magpies are back and rebuilding!

BouleBaker · 14/03/2023 08:50

It appears to be snowing in Luton

Hail/snow/sleet in Lancashire

InMySpareTime · 14/03/2023 10:06

Bright sunshine in Manchester, the Snow Shield is holding.

WhatCanWeDoNext · 14/03/2023 11:10

We’ve got thundersnow and thunderhail! Bright sunshine just before it. Crazy weather.

And in South Cheshire, it's been a beautiful morning. DH has just shrugged off his man-flu and bravely mowed the front lawn.
I did warn him it's going to be frosty tonight, but he said we've plenty of grass seed to use up. 🤦‍♀️

WhatCanWeDoNext · 14/03/2023 11:35

According to weather app, our thundersnow cloud has changed direction from north westerly to easterly and now heading towards Hull side of the country.

WhatCanWeDoNext · 14/03/2023 11:45

Westerly not easterly 🤦‍♀️

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2023 12:31

It feels like very typical March weather now, sunshine, snow, heavy showers, wind, hail, thunderstorms. Basically every bit of weather, possibly in the same day in the same location.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2023 12:36

However, unfortunately some very high rain fall totals expected as we go into the rest of the week, especially on Thursday for western areas, with some places, especially south western facing fills possibly seeing up to 100mm of rain.

Had a dramatic hailstorm earlier here ( greater Manchester) but a bit brighter now. Not as windy as yesterday!

Sounds about right here in Leicester.

It was slushy snow when I woke up at 6.30am, we've had rain on and off all morning, hail about an hour ago, now the sun is out.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2023 15:07

Maybe we should switch to a new thread - Spring weather?

Loving the optimism 😂

justasking111 · 14/03/2023 18:40

Hail on and off the last hour and it's soooo cold 🥶🥶 freezing hard tonight.

ListenLinda · 14/03/2023 19:53

Just had a heavy snow shower in Bradford. Settled on the main roads, still lightly snowing. Just seen the gritters going round as it was coming down.
