Old thread : www.mumsnet.com/talk/weather/4626193-winter-weather-outlook

Not quite January yet, but the weather warnings continue. Generally a mild outlook to come, though of course parts of Scotland will see more wintry weather on and off.

People were sleeping on garden trampolines last year

crosspusscrossstitcher · 27/02/2023 13:41

I think I'd rather sleep in the bath and keep changing the water for more cold. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2023 09:35

Time to come back to earth weather rather than space weather, which was a lovely distraction.

So we were talking about next weeks weather. Wintry showers look fairly likely in the east. Generally mostly a blocked picture, dry and settled. But if the blocking high pressure pulls westwards later on, some more widespread snow is possible.

Unfortunately, this thread is over 30 days old, so won't be appearing in active.

Thank you for keeping us updated. I know my daughter would love to see some snow - I’m not so keen to go back to cold weather.

Windy1234 · 28/02/2023 09:56

Thank you @OhYouBadBadKitten for directing me to this thread, will keep following

Notonthestairs · 28/02/2023 10:25

Gah that new policy for Active threads is very annoying.

I could really do without snow next week as I have a lot of long distance driving. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays east!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2023 10:54

It is super annoying. I've asked for a review again here. www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/4752862-threads-older-than-30-days-not-appearing-in-active

So even if a hundred posts go up the thread is permanently archived?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2023 15:50

Its me being a numpty and misremembering the situation. Sorry Justasking et al. Its trending that it is blocked from, not active. Users can choose not to see threads older than 30 days. The trending thing is what annoyed me, but I forgot that. Blush

I really do not want any more snow. The cold is bad enough!

justasking111 · 28/02/2023 19:13

Haven't seen any snow yet. Snow turns to water. Water is needed for our reservoirs

Thank you for the link on other thread. I wonder if I've screwed my settings up.

PleaseJustText · 28/02/2023 20:57

Just posting after the other thread. I've tried bookmarking but it doesn't seem to work on the app unless I comment myself.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2023 21:46

At some point we will need to chat about the Met Office outlook which shows that it's is more likely than usual to be a warmer drier April than average although the balance of probability for the season is for an average 3 months.

It looks unlikely to be cold and wet.

posted too soon before editing! From April it should say.
March is more likely to be colder and drier than usual.

If you see any waterbutts going for cheap, I'd take up the opportunity. The water outlook looks concerning.

Which other thread are people talking about?

PleaseJustText · 01/03/2023 07:34

@Tricyrtis2022 The one about the Aurora alert

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/03/2023 07:46

Ah, thank you!

I remember when it was all about March winds and April showers so it is concerning that indications are for a dry April

Abracadabra12345 · 01/03/2023 10:59

....and a warmer one 😔

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2023 11:47

It is concerning. Today, I wouldn't mind just a teeny bit warmer though. I'd quite like an average March.
