Something to really watch. GFS model is really looking a bit crackers next week with high temps of perhaps 35c mid week and night minima in the mid 20s. I'll post more tomorrow, but it doesn't look like the traditional school holiday cool down

21 is warm, I'd be very happy with 21 throughout the summer.

myteenytinyteapot · 21/07/2019 17:19

Erm, 21 is warm.

MyDcAreMarvel · 21/07/2019 17:20

21 is thin coat weather it’s hardly warm!

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/07/2019 17:22

i wouldn't need a coat unless it was below about 14. 21 is tee-shirt and shorts weather.

myteenytinyteapot · 21/07/2019 17:35

I'd be sweating buckets in a coat in 21 degrees! I stop wearing a coat once it gets to about 16. 23 in London today and I'm in a t shirt and shorts.

ClashCityRocker · 21/07/2019 17:52

21 is pleasant in shorts and t shirt for me!

Glad I have aircon in the office, will make sure elderly relatives are aware and have fans etc.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2019 17:57

Temperatures of 34c and night minima of above 20c are dangerous if prolonged. When I start this thread some of the models were showing the that this could be the case. If you don't understand that these are dangerous temperatures for those who are elderly, or unwell then I'm afraid I can't help you other than to point to back to the links I referred to earlier.

The nature of forecasting is that forecasts change. I do not apologise for starting the thread. I always weigh up very carefully the wording I use.

Mid week we will be reaching those temperatures, thankfully, it looks to cool down to more moderate temperatures by Thursday/Friday. The met office have issued a level 2 alert, I think it will probably be updated tomorrow or Tuesday to a level 3. (see photo)

Booked a week off work as my anxiety attacks run riot in really high temperatures. Thankfully this year has been cooler than last, had the panic attacks pretty much beaten until that summer.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2019 18:06

Do you have a plan Cereal? Once you've got through Tuesday night and Wednesday, you'll have broken the back of this hot pulse.

When I look at the forecast for N.Wales where we'll be next week, it's raining dull and cold. Looks like our holiday will miss the sun.

RosaWaiting · 21/07/2019 18:30

Kitten I really appreciate the early warnings, thank you. I've got a bunch of stuff out of the way this weekend and made sure mum has extras of things so she doesn't suddenly need to go out midweek.

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/07/2019 18:35

Yes, thank you Kitten, I don't have health problems with the heat but do appreciate the warnings so I can work round it, I will be going to the allotment to do some work in a minute as it sounds as though it will be too hot to do anything except watering midweek.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2019 19:36

Thank you both :) Good plan Expletive!

Sorry for the grumps Blush I just get a bit frustrated sometimes when people feel the need to always argue and pick at things on here as though every single thread was part of a debating society.

It does seem to be an emotive subject on MN.

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/07/2019 19:44

Heatwaves that is, not weather generally.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2019 19:46

Snow can split opinions too. Grin

Oh I hate snow too.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a poster in possession of an elderly relative must be in want of a weather forecast!

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/07/2019 20:03

I'm ok with snow, I live somewhere very flat in the SE of England though so not troubled by it too much, same goes for my parents. Totally get why any of these more extremes of weather are a worry for those with elderly relatives or their own health conditions though.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 21/07/2019 20:27

Gawd Thursday looks monstrous too, 36 predicted here. Will start filling the paddling pool now

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2019 20:35

Thursday is looking increasingly hot, I agree.
Interesting tweet..

kitten planning on getting everything I need to done early morning, keeping windows closed and curtains pulled once it start heating up. Cool showers & the fan on in the bedroom at night. That and remembering to breathe and that it won’t actually kill me Grin

It’s quite common for anxiety to peak due to the temperature, I thought it was just me until my GP explained the reasons why.

AvengerDanvers95 · 21/07/2019 20:41

My DC are going to be vile. They don't cope well in the heat. My feet swell in the heat too. They'll be the size of my head.

MakeLemonade · 21/07/2019 20:42

38c 😒

Urgh, no thanks.
