Storm forecasts for this week (perhaps some severe storms)

This follows on from another thread but I thought a more explicit title was needed!

Its a complex situation and lots going on this week. There is potential for severe storms perhaps (definition of a severe storm is large hail, frequent cloud-ground lightning, flooding and tornadoes - hopefully not all in the same storm unless its a real good 'un!)

Estofex have issued a level 1 alert for storms for today and tomorrow.

For our storm forecasts today I'm going to hand you over to some experts on UKWW It's a really complex situation and they are way better at it than me (especially as my time is very limited before work). If you've got any questions about what they are saying don't hesitate to ask Smile I'm out this morning but back at lunch time for a bit.

Am I reading that right? We in SE england are due 60mph gusts, hail, cloud-lightning? It's still as the grave here at the mo, and humid as hell.

not due, but if the storms develop as the models suggest they might and one of those storms crosses your area, then yes, that could be the result.

Ohyoubadkitten - so, if the storms develope, and if one crosses my area, then it might be the result?

Sounds like the weather forecast to me...

Just spotted this amber warning for localised thunderstorms with large hailstones for some bits of the country.

And just a reminder of the lightning strikes section on netweather.

That's how weather forecasts work captainmummy, it's all about calculating probabilities.

Aye, that warning will cover me then Gloria and love the lightning detector on Netweather. DD not asleep yet as we're still getting lightning and rumbles. From the radar and area for the amber warning, it looks like there's a line of storms tracking up to us in Edinburgh.....could be a long night. Only 16C though.

Love your name Perihelion! Im in Edinburgh too and there's lightning (just this minute) but no thunder.

Horrid 2 hour storm just leaving Perthshire and heading south east. It seemed to come from the west and knocked out the power for half an hour.
Strange misty muggy day with brief sunny spells then torrential rain.

S.Herts.
Hazy sun atm and no breeze again. 16 degrees in the night and at 5.30am. Just opened the door and the sky has lots of clear blue bits - but still muggy .

Looks like we've had a teeny bit of rain here. Very cloudy cooled a bit. Met office app isn't working but iPhone weather reckons it's going to be nice

OYBBK, is there somewhere I can look for a accurate weather forecast for Europe? Off to France in a week or so, just wondered if I can keep my fledgling interest in weather on the go whilst we're there.

actually if you type in the town you want, it will generate a list of places with available data, starting with the nearest (which may not be very near, but good enough Smile)
