Storm forecasts for this week (perhaps some severe storms)

This follows on from another thread but I thought a more explicit title was needed!

Its a complex situation and lots going on this week. There is potential for severe storms perhaps (definition of a severe storm is large hail, frequent cloud-ground lightning, flooding and tornadoes - hopefully not all in the same storm unless its a real good 'un!)

Estofex have issued a level 1 alert for storms for today and tomorrow.

For our storm forecasts today I'm going to hand you over to some experts on UKWW It's a really complex situation and they are way better at it than me (especially as my time is very limited before work). If you've got any questions about what they are saying don't hesitate to ask Smile I'm out this morning but back at lunch time for a bit.

Fab thunderstorm here around 6.30am. I'm in Lancashire. Loads of rain and huge bangs!

digerd · 23/07/2013 09:05

The rain has INCREASED the humidity here Confused

VitoCorleone · 23/07/2013 09:07

Thunder storm in Cumbria, loads of thunder, lightening and rain. The lightening is amazing i love it!

GobblersKnob · 23/07/2013 09:10

Well that was one of the hottest, loudest nights of my life and not in a good way Grin

I love a storm but was actually a bit scared last night, was right overhead with simultaneous thunder and lightning, massive bangs and torrential rain. Paddling pool that was empty last night has an astonishing amount of water in it.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/07/2013 09:22

3954 oh my goodness!

I was aokwn in the night by storm at 1.10 m and aat 5.20 am. both quite loud and close, though passed over quite quickly.

HiggsBoson · 23/07/2013 09:22

And we've just had the longest roll of thunder ever! Cool!

TheDoctrineOfAllan · 23/07/2013 09:28

Ugh, still so humid despite overnight rain.

GloriaSmud · 23/07/2013 09:33

Been a long, humid, rumbly night here (Leicester)
1am through 'til 2.20am (lots of impressive lightning, few rumbles), 4.20am onwards (lots of lightning and loud thunder)

Had a thundery shower this morning (few more rumbles) but the sun's coming out now, still humid and we're up to 20.3C.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 23/07/2013 09:36

Higgs, I'm in Bournemouth. It's sunny. Grin

Perihelion · 23/07/2013 10:12

Yeah! Thunder storm in Edinburgh...still hearing a few rumbles now. Hard to see the lightning as we've a combo of storm and haar. Only 16C too. Thought we'd get rain, but no thunder, but looked at the lightning map and got the dogs out for a walk befor it kicked off. Proper rain too.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 23/07/2013 10:13

Im near Edinburgh and lost my power too. I love thunderstorms, it's gone to Fife now apparently. Sad

I wanted a HUGE 30 minute thunderstorm not a 10 minute one

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 23/07/2013 10:15

Strangely enough we have a amber warning for heat and a yellow warning for rain etc.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/07/2013 10:21

awoken

there are rrumbles here in the westmidlands. the humidity is very high. it is slightly cooler, but not as cool as previous mornings, due maainly to the humidity.

GloriaSmud · 23/07/2013 12:51

Started rumbling around again at 9.45ish and after building up for an hour or so, we had a thundery shower, more rumbles and that was it.
Sun's coming out now and it's a humid 25.4C.

Perihelion · 23/07/2013 13:05

wimpy I was living north of Glasgow for the massive thunder storm in 2006.That went on for hours! Temp now 20C and more muggy. Maybe we'll have some more action Grin

mankyscotslass · 23/07/2013 13:24

Well I spoke too soon! Grin

I stepped out the door at 6.20 for the 30 minute walk to work, and the heavens opened. Impressive lightning, thunder and torrential rain. I was very wet by the time I got to work.

It was a really good storm. Grin Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/07/2013 13:31

We had a bit of a storm that was nicely timed for me this morning. Reached 27C and clear skies so I'm going to investigate wha tthe chances are for some more.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/07/2013 13:35

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 23/07/2013 13:45

ooo yikes.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2013 13:46

Hmm I'm just on the edge of that we're in a bit of a valley so might miss us

digerd · 23/07/2013 14:22

S'Herts

We had another downpour a short while ago, but hazy sun again. 27 degrees and not a breath of air. Rain just made it more humid.
The only plus is that I don't need to water the garden.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 23/07/2013 15:14

We have sun again and it's hot I thought I might be able to sleep tonight Hmm
