apologies if you've seen this info on a couple of threads but this week does look rather concerning weather wise - with the possible for repeats of more severe gales and I think it would be helpful for people to have an idea of what may be coming up.

It is looking a pretty concerning scenario this week: The storm system Monday/Tuesday looks potent for first the SW and then the north. Then Friday. A long way off but at the moment the storm looks stronger than last weeks. At the moment Scotland looks most at risk but the track is still uncertain. All I can say is be prepared and if your property has suffered damage then I would do your utmost to effect repairs asap.

should be just wet sleepevader.

Gloria, its so hard!!! I wouldnt like to call it tbh - so worth being prepared for the met office forecast. I think that if it snows, it will snow properly but be of the wet heavy kind.

THC - you are right on the border. I'm afraid you may get snow overnight and into the am. I'd be prepared with a shovel and covering of windscreen and what not just in case.

Lovely clear blue skies and sunny here in Helensburgh today.
Any update for tomorrow OYBBR??

ChickensThinkYouCanGetStuffed · 15/12/2011 11:18

Just marking my place. We're under a snow alert here in the midlands, but who knows what might happen

miSaltireandwine · 15/12/2011 11:25

Ok urgent question. Well not urgent to anyone else, jsut me
Xmas Grin
Dh is currently in a tent east of England doing a course and is due home - to Yorkshire tomorrow morning.

I am going to have to ring him and demand that he gets out of the tent comes home tonight instead aren't I?
The snow will be 20ft deep won't it?

OhYouBadBadReindeer · 15/12/2011 14:06

warning with met office really going for a midland event snow wise tomorrow. Will look at the models once my cat moves from in front of the screen

Saltire - if he is away from the coast then he could quite well be testing his tent, seeing how long it can hold up wet heavy snow for. Its quite tricky to forecast it - pretty marginal conditions really.

Midlands does seem as though it may get a fair chunk of snow. It might end up being a slushy horrid mix or you could end up with a bit of a problem. Partly depending on altitude.

OYBBR - It's not so much the tent I'm worrying about - it willl hold - its a big military one - it's him getting home I'm worried about Xmas Grin.

ChickensThinkYouCanGetStuffed · 15/12/2011 14:52

Sleet here in South Derbyshire

youarekidding · 15/12/2011 17:41

Looking at the latest forecast I am fine. There is a gap between the 2 warnings and just above the lower yellow alert on the 'mainland' between Portsmouth and Southampton.

Will let you know if I'm wrong though Grin

Knownothingknowitall · 15/12/2011 18:50

Any idea what's supposed to happen on the I.O.W OYBBK?

OhYouBadBadReindeer · 15/12/2011 19:31

wet over night Knownothing and quite 'galeish' by the afternoon should be drier.

Shiney - make sure that you have emergency chocolate and wine to get you through to tomorrow afternoon then you'll be ok for the rest of the weekend apart from some slippy ice. I think that you may get some tomorrow morning (but you may not - bastard tricky storm)

OP posts:
PuffOfSmoke · 16/12/2011 07:21

Although I am firmly anti-snow - it is so so so beautiful here today, will take some pics later, hope it is going to be a nice crisp sunny day - but as the snow is still falling I suspect not!

DH got out okay so must have come later than 3am, I am not working today so once he is home safely its out to play!

I'm starting at 6am every day next week - any weather predictions for then?

West Midlands - no snow. Not sorry about that. Have fun today Puff!

And Snowy - we'd never think you were rubbish - you saved my life last year!!! When all around were doubting my doomsday forecasts for flights out of Heathrow (formed purely from your advice), I finally persuaded school to get our exchange student on an earlier flight, and she was on virtually the last plane out. Not an easy girl - would have been a challenging Christmas!! Grin
