apologies if you've seen this info on a couple of threads but this week does look rather concerning weather wise - with the possible for repeats of more severe gales and I think it would be helpful for people to have an idea of what may be coming up.

It is looking a pretty concerning scenario this week: The storm system Monday/Tuesday looks potent for first the SW and then the north. Then Friday. A long way off but at the moment the storm looks stronger than last weeks. At the moment Scotland looks most at risk but the track is still uncertain. All I can say is be prepared and if your property has suffered damage then I would do your utmost to effect repairs asap.

lubey I struggle a bit with the colours but I think its more like 80kph gusts - which doesnt quite qualify as severe weather, but its still enough to cause some damage to roof tiles and bring down weak branches.

I'm slightly more concerned about friday now than I was a couple of hours ago. As I understand it historically low pressure systems quite often move north from their predicted path. Looking at meteociel gust map, its not going to take much of a change to bring the worst winds north from France to hit us instead.

Just trying to decide if I need to weight down my wheeley bin or not - it was only emptied today so if it's going to be windy it will sod off on a jaunt again down the road.

Big hooray for snow tomorrow and Wednesday! I do hope so. I love it.

I think tomorrow could be quite rough wind wise again for the NW and southern Scotland.

Just to add more to that - looks like tomorrow evening will be worst for 'up there' having seen the latest GFS model output.

We had some rain shoers earlier with what looked like snow - very sleet like rain - here near Portsmouth. It looks like rain clouds are gathering but no high winds as yet. Will update later if and when we get it.

Hello, just posted on t'other thread. In Oxfordshire we are on yellow alert. Was pretty bad yesterday evening but cleared up today but the worst is going to be 8pm onwards here. Am just rounding up missing relatives and making sure they are home and staying in rather than going out tonight (why do elderly relatives decide to go out in storms?)

We're all staticky and keep giving each other shocks and the air feels very close. Have got some candles ready and am feeding everyone early just in case. I'm sure it won't be too bad

thunderstorms are quite likely tomorrow - not too unusual in the circs really.

I can't figure out why there isnt a warning out for the winds tonight - met office only seem to have rain warnings. Baffling, esp for Kent.

Weighted down the wheelie bin just in case. Am officially hibernating. Also baffled why no wind warnings are out, looking at the various models.

crazy rain and wind here in south devon, we had met office warnings for wind and rain. It's going to be like this all night. Apparently Thursday is showing as really bad for winds.

Wind's building in south Kent, some rain but not much so far. Just looked at Michael Fish on the local BBC forecast and he mentioned heavy rain, gusts of 60-70mph and hail in the early hours.

THC - In general pretty windy. Friday could be rather dodgy in terms of wind. Rain wise most of the worst of it will by tonight and thursday night.

Pirate - tis thurs night friday that is of most concern in your area.
