Thanks for the new thread @ppeatfruit
I thought it was your turn 😉

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 12/08/2021 21:51

@ppeatfruit as I can't post on the old thread, here's the answer to your question!
Tony's chocoloney is really delicious chocolate. Not all DF but we love the dark chocolate with salted almonds (not too dark for me, and sooo tasty with the salted nuts). I think I've heard rumours that they're not as fair trade/ethical as they market themselves to be, and it's not cheap but it's bloody delicious

KobaniDaughters · 13/08/2021 04:23

What a good thread. I'm a recent vegan so just getting the hang of it really. Be great to see what outlets are eating.

B: homemade muesli with berries and coconut milk
L: rice cakes with marmite and violife spread
D: teriyaki tempeh, brown basmati rice, green beans & sesame seeds.

Not sure what to have as a snack later, probably gluten free sourdough toast with nut butter & banana and a veg juice (carrots, beetroot, celery and ginger).

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 13/08/2021 17:31

@quinin welcome!

@ppeatfruit yes, should be available in Waitrose 😬 Hope all goes smoothly for your trip over!

theneverendinglaundry · 13/08/2021 20:15

Hi! New to this thread, been on a vegan journey for a couple of years and took the final step 5 months ago.

B: mashed avocado on wholemeal toast

L: wrap with houmous, cucumber, tomatoes, leftover mashed avocado, grated carrot and beetroot. Banana and some crisps.

D: chickpea burger with sweetcorn and cabbage salad.

The chickpea burger was very bland and disappointing. Won't be using that recipe again! Does anyone have a good recipe I can try?

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 14/08/2021 10:42

Welcome @theneverendinglaundry too! Sorry, no chickpea burger to share but if I come across one that looks tasty when I'm browsing recipes I'll let you know

B: overnight oats with raspberries, nectarine and seeds
L: dates/Brazil nuts, cherry tomatoes, Bol salad pot (Med roasted veg)
S: popchips
Out for dinner (Thaikhun). We over ordered but brought our leftovers home with us, so didn’t overeat there and then had a second small portion when I was hungry at 11ish 😂 Sharing starter of corn cakes, mini spring rolls, gyoza and tofu sticks (fried). DD15 and I then ordered a sharing meal of jasmine rice, tofu panang curry, tofu and cashew stir fry and veg pad Thai with a side of stir fry veg.

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2021 12:23

Yes welcome newbies!! I buy the vegan Food and Living Magazine (when in England!) theneverending it's great for recipes and inspiration! Also, though not strictly vegan, the Hugh Fearnley W. book River Cottage Veg Every day is good too.

B. Rest of HM plum\nectarine smoothie.
L. Whole rice and HM pesto with nooch.
S. Pear and mirabelles with leftover smoothie

theneverendinglaundry · 14/08/2021 14:43

@parttimedomesticgoddess tha I you!

KobaniDaughters · 14/08/2021 17:19

Yay welcome newbies!!!

@theneverendinglaundry give Vegan Richa a go - she has a gazillion burger recipes and none of her recipes have ever failed me. Also, not chickpea but I’m sure you could sub the beans, this recipe is our go to for HM burgers from Oh She Glows:
ohsheglows.com/2016/08/31/oh-em-gee-veggie-burgers-from-my-new-cookbook/

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess haha we did exactly the same! Went out for Chinese with friends, way over ordered and ended up snacking on the leftover when I got home! It was so good

S: vegan goats cheese smeared on cucumber slices, cashews, banana bread
D: went out for dinner with DH’s new colleagues, went to a Japanese and the chef made me my own vegan omakase which was delicious! I was just going to order some edamame and miso soup!

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2021 08:48

I find it odd that here there are people here who sell japaneasy type food (in stalls) but I have asked a few times just for veggie rolls but they always put some ham or something in them, even now! Dh says it's because they really don't think anyone can survive without a bit of protein!

B. Pear/plum\ ground pumpkin seed\sultana smoothie
L. raspberry punnet and walnuts
S,sn Oatly type Choc dessert. spelt toast, pnut butter, yeast spread with cucumber.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 15/08/2021 13:30

@theneverendinglaundry I hate it when food disappoints! Have you googled for a recipe? I haven't had that one at wagamamas but it sounds divine

@KobaniDaughters wow, result!

@ppeatfruit that's happened to us in the last few years, especially in Poland and Slovenia (no mention of meat on the menu/description, turns up with tiny pieces of ham in). Reminds me of Nana in the Royle Family when a vegetarian comes round - "can she have wafer thin ham, Barbara?" 😂

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 15/08/2021 13:30

B: kiwi, mango, 2 crumpets with plant butter and marmite
L: big salad - lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot, Sweetcorn, artichoke hearts dressed in raspberry vinaigrette and seeds sprinkled on top
D: courgette (roasted with oil and chilli), tenderstem and small portion of runner beans with the pasta bake linked below and garlic bread. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ilchester cheese on its own but the pasta bake was really tasty
S: collective raspberry yogurt, S&V fava beans, last 2 squares of Tony’s, dates/Brazil nuts, alpro chocolate pot

I used spinach and chopped vivera facon pieces with 200g of pasta and the sauce to pasta ratio was perfect for me. I’d say serves 2-4 though, depending on the appetite of those eating and the sides served
