Well I made it all myself @ppeatfruit Wink but yes you can get incredible Mexican food where I live - and Japanese food. Both are so subpar in the U.K. compared to what I’m now used to! But the curry is better at home….

We're getting close to payday which means not much shopping is happening, and we're using up bits and bobs in the cupboards and freezer.

B: avocado on toast
L: potato wedges with salad and houmous
D: lentil ragu with spaghetti

I bought a massive tub of tahini from my local shop so should be able to keep myself in steady supply of houmous at least.

Does anyone find that dried chickpeas that you soak and cook yourself make better houmous that tinned chickpeas? I have only ever used tinned but never get that smooth consistency that I crave.

S: protein bar after bike ride

ppeatfruit · 19/08/2021 08:22

theneverending I try to always soak my white beans for dips they blend up beautifully. ( I can't eat chickpeas they give me belly ache and blow me out Grin ) Which is a bit tricky in WRose, I think they must own chickpea fields somewhere!! I like pure tahini though, specially creamed up with extra garlic and olive oil\water.

I'm going to give it a try I think!

I love tahini too, and often just eat a spoonful straight out of the jar 😳

KobaniDaughters · 19/08/2021 14:57

Big fat hummus fan too! I actually like a bit of texture to mine but I do cook my chickpeas from dry using the instapot (and with a bay leaf in the cooking water for good measure)

I used a different brand of chickpeas today (random cheap brand from tesco rather than asda ones) and it came out a lot smoother. And garlicky enough to keep all vampires within a 50 mile radius away.
