You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Yes, eitak, we were told two weeks ago, which is extremely unusual! It’s normally in the last fortnight, or most memorably one year, on the last day. Support staff though, not teaching. The teachers know where they are too but they aren’t supposed to tell us. It’s quite infantilising, but there is a member of staff who would Which Teacher, Which Class to parents, so they refuse to confirm until the official class letters have gone out to parents. Unofficially we all know who we are working with, though!

Honey, sorry to hear about ds - 1h 40 min seems like a long time for a detention- do you think it's proportionate? My view is that in our school, severity of sanctions depends sometimes on who the child is and how much fuss their parents are likely to make , but my view has been coloured by my ds's experience this year.

Didn’t manage to sleep well last night and have cold and sore throat today so maybe that is contributing to my rage… 🤣

Ours get a maximum 30 min detention. 1 hour 40 mins is really long!

Sorry it’s sounding like a really bad week chocolate only 3 more weeks.

Water bomb making is silly and annoying but the detention length does seem rather excessive.

3.5 weeks here. I still have so much to do - mew sets, Y10 are in the middle of mocks and we will be teaching up to the very last day to ensure we are in a good position for next year. There's a million other jobs need doing as well.

Hit a low point today as we had data collection and when I checked, loads of the team hadn't done it

Think everyone is just at the end of the rope now!
