You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

This happened at my school last Nov and Dec. We had year groups on a rota but still we closed twice fully. Didn’t make any news.

MsAwesomeDragon · 02/07/2021 19:51

I can't believe what I've just read!!! Snogging Gav!!!! EnvyEnvyEnvy🤮🤮🤮🤮 And I agree that Gove should definitely be asexual.

My year 10s regularly accuse me of treating them like dogs as I often need to say "sit, stay" which should really be the bare minimum of expectations yet they haven't mastered it (puppy is better than some of my year 10).

JanFebAnyMonth · 02/07/2021 19:51

R4’s Dead Ringers was v funny tonight re Matt Hancock, and there was mention of Gav living in Boris’s understairs cupboard.....

ChloeDecker · 02/07/2021 20:22

@MrsHamlet

Bob would not enjoy that. The whistling... really?!
I read that as if teachers will have whistles like the PE teachers! Grin

Don’t teachers still have whistles in primary? I have very vivid memories of teachers blowing the whistle at playtime and we all had to freeze. Obviously I’m deeply traumatised from this experience Hmm

I wonder what we will have after tsars?

Gulags instead of detention.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2021 20:56

DH has just had a ruck with soem burly blokes over the fence. Their kids and some other kids were 'playing football' which consisted of screaming at the tops of their lungs. For nearly an hour.

This is after an hour of listening to the other, smaller children earlier this evening having constant tantrums and telling on each other.

Literally no one tells their kids to be quiet anymore do they??

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 02/07/2021 20:57

I have a whistle. Last year I had an asd child who like to lick it if he could get close enough.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 02/07/2021 20:57

Whistle permanently attached to my lanyard here for duties.

I'm sitting in a dark ice skating disco while dd does her hobby before getting s covid test in the morning and self isolating before a biopsy on tues pm. 2 days off school feels weird. But I have enough SLT.paperwork to fill my time.

Still bloosy chuckling at some of the.niggets from the final growing up talk where they.saw the development.of a baby in a diagram of the female anatomy. One of the boys asked in horror
"How does it fit through THERE?"

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2021 21:01

I see the DfE is trying to whip up parental support by spamming FB with feeds about whole bubbles not needing to isolate. What do they think that will achieve other than antagonism to schools from parents?

As far as I see it :-

-bubbles aren't really a thing in secondary. Where a whole year group is termed a bubble, they are very very rarely sent home as a first measure. Even TeacherTapp doesn't seem to get this.

-primary schools are fucked.

GuyFawkesDay · 02/07/2021 21:15

So tired today. I just haven't got the energy. We now have one year group totally out, 2 with large chucks SI.

My brain feels utterly, utterly frazzled

StaffRepFeistyClub · 02/07/2021 21:19

It is wonderful that the DfE have got money to spend on advertising, Christmas overtime payments etc. How about they start to support schools?

I don't have a whistle. I have a very loud voice instead.

MrsHamlet · 02/07/2021 21:27

I have scary eyes, apparently

Almost time to head to the broom cupboard!

I have a whistle; the Acme Thunderer and it hurts your ears.

I only use it to underline the end of recess/lunch.

GuyFawkesDay · 02/07/2021 22:06

I have a whistle (I umpire sports out of school)
Tis also an Acme thunderer and used for break & lunchtime ending.

I feel v important when I get it use it 🤣

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 02/07/2021 22:06

Martine Mccutcheon on Gogglebox just mentioned how she loves coconut scented quilted toilet paper. She'd fit in well here.

I have the glare that makes princess stop scooting to close on her pink scooter in the supermarket on a Friday. I am ‘the scary lady wearing the mask’
