You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Haha.
My first thought when I heard the news this morning was that the lady in question had been playing Snog Marry Avoid.

Do we think she lost?! Grin

Such low standards.

We've just spent half an hour discussing whether it matters that a politician/someone in the public eye cheats on their spouse. How much does it matter? Does it make you question their morals for everything? If I was having an affair with another teacher at work, would it be OK for parents to judge me on my ability to teach their children?

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/06/2021 19:47

Grin chloe

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/06/2021 20:00

And whatever we may think about his personal morals (Hmm), that he then thought it was fine to appoint his mistress to a non-exec post (which apparently has, unusually for such a post, seen her accompany him on various trips) raises a few issues about his professional standards.

Of course Boris will support him.

namechangedyetagain · 25/06/2021 20:08

Evening, checking in not good news about bubbles bursting all over the place, DS is back in masks at school from Monday. I've had second jab this week so feeling bit tired still but thankful that I'm done.

So apparently I'm going to be a Y3 teacher! Have never taught this year group so will keep me on my toes!

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/06/2021 20:14

Oh dear Robert Jenrick on Any Questions has just said, midst trying to defend Matty- boy, “He is on the job”....... (defeating the pandemic, obvs)

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2021 20:24

Boris can't criticise Hancock because Acuri.

Don't give a toss that Hancock is shagging his mate from Uni in terms of him being the Health Secretary. Do care about him doing it at work when he's meant to be on the job. Do also care about the fact he once again gave jobs to his mates for his own benefit.

I'm here for all your snog, marry, avoid needs.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/06/2021 20:28

I'm going to be a Y3 teacher

Best year. Fact.

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2021 20:31

No one is going to vote to snog Hancock after those pictures. 🤢

Gove, Hancock, Rees-Mogg?

namechangedyetagain · 25/06/2021 20:50

Is it @RuleWithAWoodenFoot? I'm moving up with my placement year. Actually quite excited but also feeling daunted about transition day etc. I won't be a student after next week Shock

The BBC are running a headline that says 'Hancock broke social distance guidance with aide'. Which must be a euphemism. Probably should have just gone with 'Hancock was on the job.'

Year 3 is a great year. Even rule agrees after the year she's had.

Mistressiggi · 25/06/2021 21:14

Am so drunk. God what a year it has been.
Been drinking (legally, following requirements) with colleagues I've spent the year staying 2m apart from.

DreamingofBrie · 25/06/2021 21:18

I'm here for all your snog, marry, avoid needs.

Please, I can't cope with the shagging Gav conversations again 🤮

Timeturnerplease · 25/06/2021 21:40

Year 3 is great @namechangedyetagain - invest time in training them over the first few weeks (how to write and underline dates, how to stick in neatly, strategies for independence) then sit back and let them enthusiastically do every single job that could possibly ever need doing in the classroom. They love it, you don’t ever have to hand anything out again. Win win.

namechangedyetagain · 25/06/2021 21:47

They are the least independent yr2 class I've ever worked with so training sounds great and much needed. Also trips to the toilet to muck about need to stop!

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 25/06/2021 21:48

I need to have a bit of a pity party I'm afraid. Nausea, knackeredness and shitty class allocation for both year 10 and year 11 have combined with a result of me taking the last two days off. I am ridiculously anxious about doing my job. I was so excited to be going back in my own classroom, and now I don't want to go in at all. And I feel so sick, all the time. It was nowhere near this bad last time 😔

BadlydoneHelen · 25/06/2021 22:05

I agree with the year 3 love- they are so eager to do things that they even fight to get the dustpan and brush and sweep up at the end of the day

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/06/2021 22:11

@HobnobbingAboutHobnobs you need to look after yourself right now. That’s the most important thing! Take all the time you need x

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 25/06/2021 22:15

MrsHP don't be too nice - I will cry at you!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/06/2021 22:16

Oh FFS. Child has to isolate for 10 days.

Poor head teacher having to sort that out on a Friday night.

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/06/2021 22:22

Oh no @RuleWithAWoodenFoot!

@HobnobbingAboutHobnobs it’s fine I’ll join you. I’ve just about cried my way through this week….

HarrietDVane · 25/06/2021 22:23

Evening all and welcome @AttaGirrrrl!

I agree with the general consensus about Y3 - it's a brilliant year group! Little enough to believe in all the magical stuff but old enough to be independent. I'm glad to be staying in Y3 again next year (even if I am getting the < ahem > interesting class!)
