You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

The levels of destruction caused by a single wasp are truly only understood if you've had entire lessons derailed by one, tiny wasp, way, way up near the corner of the room.

Even.I..the best behaved class, 30 pairs of eyes fixed on it. 30 minds on one thing: Wasp!

Not to mention the disruption of a fart that everyone blames on each other.

Thanks for the new thread, Staff.

Is the tent thread still going? I have a medieval tent that's about 3m across but a cone shape, so only I could fit in there with social distancing. I could use it to store my secret toffee vodka stash and my mug?

I Love Jules Daulby has changed his Twitter handle to Jules Blob Daulby!

And his Tweet made me Grin

I shall write practice when I should write practise.

Hercwasonaroll · 10/05/2020 18:41

Anyone feel like doom is coming?

Appuskidu · 10/05/2020 18:50

@hercwasonaroll

Yes, I really do Confused

TheHoneyBadger · 10/05/2020 18:51

I don’t think I can watch it tonight. Could someone summarise? I know if I watch him it will wind me up. I find myself shouting say SOMETHING you buffoon as he wombles away. 9 out of 10 words/utterances are fillers. It takes me back to a level English language and transcribing speech into phonetics and analysing it. He has no content and I get irritated by having to listen so hard to pick out the few words that make sense.

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 18:52

Yup.

I'm only 90% confident we're not being expected to turn up tomorrow morning.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/05/2020 18:56

@MossWalk - that thread about school reopening on Monday was a giggle 🤭 How on earth a Head would ever let a school secretary send that to parents beggars belief. I think that Op must have misread the message.

I'm going to watch. I'll summarise.

phlebasconsidered · 10/05/2020 19:03

Whynot I have a spider catcher! It is a very cool tool and the child who is chosen to wield it is a bit like Thor.

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 19:03

Conditional plan with 'five tests'.

SallyLovesCheese · 10/05/2020 19:04

We've done well in lockdown. Seen it's the only way to prevent "being engulfed".

Madness to allow a second spike but it's at a cost to our way of life. Millions of people fearful of the disease and fearful of what lockdown will do to their futures and those of their children.

Tonight - "a shape of a plan" shared with us.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/05/2020 19:05

Thanks sally. I’m hoping for an early night and rage effects my sleep Wink

SallyLovesCheese · 10/05/2020 19:06

My heart is beating fast, Badger!

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 19:06

Much less waffle but still very vague.

SallyLovesCheese · 10/05/2020 19:07

Five Covid "alert levels" based on number of cases etc.

SallyLovesCheese · 10/05/2020 19:08

Two more things we must do - reverse care home and NHS epidemics, and better testing.

SallyLovesCheese · 10/05/2020 19:09

Not time to end lockdown.

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 19:10
Shock

Reception, Y1 and Y6 to be phased in, if possible, after June 1.

Detailed guidance following.

namechangedyetagain · 10/05/2020 19:10

June 1st primary schools for R Y1 and Y6. Did I hear that right?

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 19:10

That is Step 2.

SallyLovesCheese · 10/05/2020 19:11

First change: they said wfh if you can, but should go to work if you can't wfh. If possible, travel by car or, even better, walking or bike.

Unlimited outdoor exercise. Drive to destinations, sit in a park, play sports with members of your household. Increase in fines for those breaking conditions.

namechangedyetagain · 10/05/2020 19:11

What do I do with my children who aren't in those years I wonder? I'm year 1.
