You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

Stay alert? Such utter shit. Britain needs 'lerts'.

How can you be 'alert' to an invisible virus in a classroom.

pinkrocker · 10/05/2020 15:30

Have you ever been in a portaloo when they malfunction? And they backflush whilst you're sitting on the loo? Wouldn't recommend it. Envy --not envy

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 15:32

Eruuughhhhhh!

FrippEnos · 10/05/2020 15:32

As the great band Yello once said

Oh Yeah.

twinkletoesimnot · 10/05/2020 15:34

Piggywaspushed - meerkats! 😂😂

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/05/2020 15:39

Afternoon.
I’m here ready to support to portaloo businesses.

CarrieBlue · 10/05/2020 15:47

I have a small 4 man tent and a larger 6 man tent - does that mean I can move straight to slt status?!

I also have a solar shower that might help more than a bucket....

ChloeDecker · 10/05/2020 15:49

Sorry Piggy- on the Nursery thread I’ve jut read back my post and realised it could be as if I’m criticising you but just wanted to say I was following in agreement with you re: Biscuit comment. Hope that’s okay! I’ll leave that thread now Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 10/05/2020 15:50

As fore mentioned I am happy to have the removals tent so long as I am allowed to swear and drink as much alcohol as required. Now it’s a tent rather than a classroom I will also require a duvet

Piggywaspushed · 10/05/2020 15:55

It's fine , chloe : I didn't read it that way at all. I see both you and me were playing MN schools actually not meant to be thread Bingo!!

Appuskidu · 10/05/2020 15:58

I wonder if, after all this debate, tonight’s (prerecorded) Bojo Show won’t actually mention schools at allGrin.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/05/2020 15:59

Nicola sturgeon, “I don’t know what stay alert means”. Me neither. Can’t believe they didn’t include Scotland in discussions. She’s not letting him get away with it though.

Piggywaspushed · 10/05/2020 16:00

Outdoor learning...

In Scotland...

does double take....

WhyNotMe40 · 10/05/2020 16:03

Am I the only one imagining what will happen with a load of tents on fields, pupils encouraged to be outside, and extremely restricted access to loos?
I'm imagining an awful lot of "nature wees" round the back of tents.... Or is it just me?

RigaBalsam · 10/05/2020 16:04

Nichola said school in Scotland won't open 1st June does that mean it was mentioned in COBR it would in England? SadSad

phlebasconsidered · 10/05/2020 16:05

Jesus - my class get distracted every time a pheasant walks past the window / a cat/ a bee flies in / a hoverfly flies in because it might be a bee/ a wasp flies in / a spider walks across the floor. In a tent I would have half the class on InsectWatch. And the other half (me included) would be sneezing and /or bombed out of our minds on antihistamines. The one with an epipen would basically have to be in some sort of tent inside a tent.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/05/2020 16:06

She’s been saying that for a while riga don’t worry. She seems to counter media speculation whereas Boris says nothing and leaves us all in the dark

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 16:07

Scotland seems to be very into outdoor learning. I assume they resisted the selling off of playing fields?

Am I the only one imagining what will happen with a load of tents on fields, pupils encouraged to be outside, and extremely restricted access to loos?

I predict loads of spying on who is going to the loo and joining them if it's their pal. They're at it even through brick indoor walls.

Asuitablecat · 10/05/2020 16:07

We haven't even got enough parking spaces, let alo n e room.for tents! Roof top marquee?

HedyPrism · 10/05/2020 16:08

Hi everyone, can I join? I've been lurking. PGCE student here with placement B suspended. Not looking forward to starting my NQT job with half the usual time in school and 6 months without teaching.

reefedsail · 10/05/2020 16:12

On behalf of myself and @NeurotrashWarrior could I please ask for some sort of safety tent peg that I can't be stabbed with.

PerplexingWords · 10/05/2020 16:13

Glad to see I wasn’t the only one watch NS. I am in England but find her easier to watch.

pfrench · 10/05/2020 16:16

When we line up for fire alarms, we are about a metre from the school building, all jammed in the playground. In a real fire we have to leave the schools grounds and head to the park. We have car parking spaces for 10 cars, with a staff of 90. Outdoor space is not something we have loads of.

phlebasconsidered · 10/05/2020 16:18

Also it is physically impossible for me to be in a tent with children in without crying, shouting "FGS why can't you just put it away!", losing at fucking Uno or being drunk. I know - i'm a 10 year veteran of camping "holidays".

Welcome! Must be very worrying for you. Glad you have joined! I find a Brew in the staff room is a good start
