You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

We could take a line from.Wayne's world and stick.on.each thread, . Prefaced by an.apology:

Yes! Or lines from a poem or detail the thread discussing fermat's last theorem.

Loving this Tweet from Tom Sherrington:

*If Boris’ government designed a behaviour system.

Be on time if you’re not too busy.
Listen at all times unless you’re having a good chat.
Show respect whenever convenient.
Walk on the left unless you feel like walking on the right*

pinkrocker · 10/05/2020 17:11

@MossWalk Grin wombling Grin that's such a good word for BJ!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/05/2020 17:13

Or how about ?

Yes that is an interesting observation

I hadn’t thought about that

Fair point

Hmm that could be a plan - could you flesh out the details a bit

Or ..... let me just check if my cat thinks that is a good idea

I would agree we are on 4 and not consistently on track with criteria for 3. No mention of levels of testing or effect tracing and isolating on there. Though how they could know the magic R number without it is a mystery

Hang on, I think I worked in a school where those were the expectations of pupils.... Confused

I am very cynical today, dear me. The bright and shiny NQTs will be frowning at the old age pensioners in the corner of the staffroom!

Hercwasonaroll · 10/05/2020 17:13

That tweet is golden! Also loving Mark Ensers thread on lesson sabotage

RigaBalsam · 10/05/2020 17:14

Lol like that poem

Ladies and gentlemen I come before you to stand behind you to tell you something I know nothing about. The next Friday the day before Thursday.....

Have you got a link please?

TheHoneyBadger · 10/05/2020 17:16

No mention of availability of ppe either. Not sure how we’re meant to get to 3 without adequate testing capacity and ppe for those who can’t sd due to nature of work

Appuskidu · 10/05/2020 17:27

The media seem to be surprisingly quiet on schools reopening today-am getting v anxious Confused.

Sureitwillbegrand · 10/05/2020 17:28

Just dropping in for my coffee with special milk (Baileys) Grin. I have had a lovely long weekend and missed everything on mn for last 3 days. I feel good so not going to venture out of the staffroom now where's the biscuits.

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/05/2020 17:40

I'm just checking in so I know where to find you all.

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2020 17:51
Gin

Thanks for the new thread!

namechangedyetagain · 10/05/2020 18:17

Can I join ? I'm supposed to be starting my SCITT in September and feeling increasingly twitchy. I was supposed to be spending some time this term observing in KS2. I feel so unprepared and not at all confident that I can actually do this.

Going to hang around here for a while if that's ok...

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/05/2020 18:19

I love that someone on the tent thread said there is no reason to be afraid of a wasp.
They have clearly never tried to teach in a room with a wasp in.

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/05/2020 18:19

Welcome @namechangedyetagain.
Have you got your own mug?

phlebasconsidered · 10/05/2020 18:20

I had a Maybug fly in once. The epic panic it caused is still spoken of years hence. To be fair, they are bloody massive.

WhyNotMe40 · 10/05/2020 18:26

My classroom seems to contain a portal to the spider home world.
The amount of disruption that has caused meant that every morning and lunchtime I try to do a thorough spider sweep just to avoid the screaming....

namechangedyetagain · 10/05/2020 18:27

Absolutely @FlamingoAndJohn and my own coffee. No toffee alas but VERY well stocked in Gin. That's all I'll need as a teacher? Can't wait to finish at 3 every day and for my long holidays. It will be just like the adverts right? 😉😉🤣🤣

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/05/2020 18:33

Just like the adverts with the children hanging on your every word.
