You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

Other than having lots of other teachers - the moderation on TES is a lot more rigorous which cuts out some nasty behaviour

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 08:46

I am not posting on those other threads from now on - they can eat themselves in anger and bitterness. It is mainly the same lot who appear to have it in for teachers. They are probably the same crowd for moaned and whinged about teachers before CV for not giving Johnny star of the week or an A for work

Sorry folk, I had to come off last night, it was making me so upset. The threads are springing up all over now. The innocent, ‘Why does every post I read end up with teachers feeling like they’re being bashed... Daffodil?!’.

Well, I do wonder?!!

Now the posts start about the unions and the slightly threatening, ‘this isn’t going to end well for teachers...’ or ‘can you believe the negativity of this Workshyhead Shock?!’

I’m off to look at the other place.

StSaulOfSnacks · 13/05/2020 08:51

Csn anyone link to the other place's thread?

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 08:55

I will probably be kicked out of MN for that without warning having been called a trouble maker and a rabble-rouser

Thanks staff.

Nick Ferarri on LBC just used the line

' won't someone think of the children'Grin

WhyNotMe40 · 13/05/2020 09:05

I've signed on tes and posted on that thread - have created a new username as I already have a "professional" one on there

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/05/2020 09:06

I've just read the start of a head's risk assessment shared on a fb group.

It sounds like a return to work books tbh.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/05/2020 09:07

Oh can you make new user names there?

It should probably nc here tbh.

RigaBalsam · 13/05/2020 09:09

Tes won't let me post says needs moderation.
Shame as I like the app on Mumsnet. Sad

WhyNotMe40 · 13/05/2020 09:10

I used my "social media and junk mail" email for my new username. I now have about 3 email addresses plus my school one Grin

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 09:14

Yes they seem to moderate every post. It cuts down on the abuse (until MN)

OP posts:
WhyNotMe40 · 13/05/2020 09:14

Yes I'm awaiting moderation as well

SansaSnark · 13/05/2020 09:24

Will come and join you all on TES. I've just bitten on one of the "won't someone think of the children" threads.

Rightly or wrongly, I'm not that worried about the threads of parents- I doubt many of them are up for teaching secondary level science, and before all of this started, I think it was beginning to filter through to parents that lots of schools were having to use non-specialists in science and maths.

I also think parents who can't even make their own kids engage with online learning wouldn't last five minutes in your average secondary school (I do know all the reasons why there might be issues, but I'm getting sick of parents who can't even parent their own children trying to tell teachers how to do their job).

I think if we strike, public opinion will vary a lot, but it might actually inspire other unions in other professions to do the same?

Piggywaspushed · 13/05/2020 09:30

I don't massively want to strike and I ma practically a communist ; I want the government to listen to NAHT (apparently they didn't consult them) and UNISON etc and listen to teachers. I want them to be clearer on vulnerable staff and children, and on expectations for teachers as regards children that either cannot come in, or whose parents choose not to send them.

I want them to explain their decision in terms of why now, and why those year groups. And they need to actually set out practical advice and even rules so headteachers are not left open to legal challenges and at the mercy of the baying mobs.

I also want reassurance that all governors, HR, heads and MAT leaders have properly read the guidance... and I am not convinced they have, or even will : and , when they do, I want reassurances that they HAVE to heed it.

Appuskidu · 13/05/2020 09:31

I’ve already decided; I will strike, boycott, whatever. I don’t think this is safe.

SallyLovesCheese · 13/05/2020 09:34

The moderation on TES is fairly short-lived, I believe, it'll be because you've set up a new account.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 09:38

The thread on the new place seems to be set to go even with their strict moderation approach

I am not going on any HT says this/Danish schools/think of the children/ any thread to do with education outside of the staffroom on MN.

Ferrari just said there is mo proven case on the planet of a child under 10 passing covid in he is flat out lying.

AngelaScandal · 13/05/2020 09:42

Is there a coordinated thread-starting group somewhere doing all this? I’ve never seen such a wave of animosity towards teachers.

RigaBalsam · 13/05/2020 09:44

I am getting wound up Nick Ferrari is a disgrace.

MollyAtTheFolly · 13/05/2020 09:46

Yeah, the 'are all teaching professionals bitchy' (something like that) is a good one. Why that, why now?

I'm not going to post there but Hmm

Oh shit, am I talking about another thread. Rap my knuckles with a ruler.
