Ham are now asking to be called "public figures".. wtf! They wanted to be private citizens which is why they left the RF..Is this to try & get security.
Good on King Charkes nipping their shit in the bud & reminding them of their station!

Harry and Meghan ‘caught off guard’ by King’s decision over their status

The couple were reportedly ‘surprised’ by the memorandum issued by King Charles

Yes we’ll have to agree to disagree.

To me he screams “hurt toddler” who takes his suitcases down to the garden gate threatening to leave and thinks “oh no, I was just testing but it’s actually true they don’t care”

I’ve no idea for sure as I don’t know them but Charles strikes me as someone who needs quite a lot of propping up by Camilla and therefore he perhaps wasn’t able to give Harry the reasurrance he needed in what was always going to be a difficult transition.

Charles certainly wasn’t as generous as his mother when allocating accommodation to offspring and that’s overall a good thing; but the new relative “parsimony” only seemed to apply to H & M. Charles didn’t divest himself of one of his many houses! In fact he’s bought more! AMW until recently and S and E all living very comfortably indeed.

All of them in my opinion practice HIHO in some form or another. Again, it’s just Harry who has to actually follow the rules.

I’ve read the accounts of PPOs who looked after AMW and they weren’t pretty and others talking about Harry in his youth falling out of nightclubs. Nothing too unusual there I would have thought. Except many biographies say that William was just as active a party goer but as heir he was shielded from exposure.

I dislike virtue signalling intensely too but I sincerely hope that Meghan has taught Harry some very direct lessons about race and he obviously needed them growing up in the environment he did. He admitted to being bigoted and not having the right degree of awareness on this issue and I admire that he was honest about it, whereas some posters use it as a bat to beat him with over and over again.

And why shouldn’t he complain about a female matron? I had a female teacher in prep school who should never, ever have been in the vicinity of children, never mind teaching them. There was one female member of staff in Harry’s school (not sure if same person or not, or even same time as Harry) who was notorious for shutting desk lids down hard on children’s knuckles. Just because staff members are female it doesn’t automatically exonerate them from cruelty. And disability isn’t an excuse either.

The Beaufort House pool party incident wasn’t good but it was a sixteen year old’s clumsy attempt at breaking the ice. A very bad misjudgement. As was the naked strip poker incident in LA but stupid high jinks rather than anything bullying or vicious I would have said.

Taylor Hawkins Hawkins told Howard Stern that he was heavily jet-lagged and tired before going on stage. When he complained to the prince about being too tired to wake up, Prince Harry playfully slapped him across the face to snap him out of it. Hawkins later said he wore the royal slap "with pride" and that he found it hilarious. So not sure what the issue is there?

I have pedantically gone through all of these in detail to demonstrate that you can twist these stories whichever way you want according to whether you are inclined to like Harry or not!

This is complete waffle.
It's sad but irrelevant that you had a cruel female teacher.
You say there was a female member of staff at Harry's school who was notorious for shutting desk lids down hard on children’s knuckles.
Have you any proof? It obviously is nothing to do with this matron, since you don't know whether it was the same person or if they were there at the same time as Harry.
Harry doesn't mention any cruelty apart from, indirectly, his own in mocking this woman and her disability.

You say you've gone through these points "pedantically".
That's not the word I would have used.

It seems, in my opinion only, a bit of a ramble and you seem to have taken these things very personally for some reason.

He came across as a self absorbed shit with a very dodgy memory (probably a mix of drugs and stupidity)

He loves punching down, like his wife

I agree with this. At the moment, every little thing is scrutinized and, yes, many people, press included, are desperate for them to fail at everything they do

They should lay low for a while. Let the hype die down and then reassess what they want from life, with proper advice, from people who actually have their best interests at heart, and work out if it is realistic.

Play the long game. But they don't seem to be interested in that. They seem to want it all now and on their terms and neither seem bright enough or humble enough to realise that just being Harry and Megan isn't enough to gain the positive press and attention they want, and the whole victim role when they do gain negative press or things dont go their way doesn't help.

@Whaleandsnail6 Well put.

I'm in the US and that's what happened here when they first arrived. Lots of median attention and then it started fading until it was pretty much non-existent.

It's different in the UK, of course, he'll always have some attention as KC's son, but it would decrease if they lay low for a while and played the long game as you say. Announcing his September schedule is the opposite of that- once again, he's probably not listening to good advice.

bluegreygreen · 12/09/2026 16:42

The passage in Spare that Harry wrote about the matron is below.

My opinion is that most adults would be too ashamed to recount such behaviour as a child; or, if they felt they should include it for some reason, would be sure to point out how they now thought and behaved differently.
Others may disagree.

No adult insight whatsoever. He’s an extraordinarily stunted individual, and pure nasty with it.

Again, I haven’t muddled it up!

I am very clear on who are working members of the RF and who are not!

What is funny is the fact that we have a hereditary monarchy where the crown passes down from monarch to monarch who each have a family and yet it is supporters of this system who can’t see that the “Harry problem” came about because of it.

I remember Prince Philip once arguing on tv that the hereditary system was good because you got an entire family for the price of one monarch, without acknowledging that this is only true if the other family members are up to the job and not potential criminals or alleged abusers of trafficked women. Or they are not weak and damaged like Harry. Princess Margaret had her picture taken in the bath wearing a tiara fhs!

The truth is it’s a bad system for the royals themselves and it’s a bad system for us! The heirs are vaunted and the spares often fall to bits.

And no one can escape the fact that had Prince Charles died on the polo field or when some foreign student shot at him on stage, then Prince Andrew would be king now and we would have no power over that decision.

The royal family does not have a "Harry problem". Harry is irrelevant to the royal family as a state institution and plays no role in it. Harry has a "Harry problem".

You're talking about people who are dead and who would be a century old if they were still alive. Philip once said this! Princess Margaret did this! So what? None of that has anything do with Harry.

The UK system for the head of state is a lot more stable and offers more value than most other systems for the head of state.

I'm pretty sure that whatever faux "interest" there is in Harry in the UK right now will soon die down. I doubt there even is any real interest in him - it's all being hyped up by the tabloids because it gets them easy clicks.

No one cares about his schedule.

it's a valid question, and the thread is a perfect place to ask it.

Why do people have so much hatred for a couple that has nothing to do with their life, has no impact and that they don't know?

Also why do they worship the royal family so much? I am guessing that they feel they are part of that royal family if they defend them or fawn over them and the children.

The report doesn’t quite follow your brief. I don’t see anything playful about Harry being violent, and Taylor Hawkins certainly wasn’t impressed, the only reason Harry got away with it was because he used his position of Prince as an abuse of power, as per usual. I bet if Harry didn’t have Prince in front of his name and a security detail around him TH wouldn’t have just taken it and would have smacked him right back. Harry literally punches down and posters defend it, shocking.

One such story was that of Hawkins being slapped by Prince Harry at a 2014 event, which Hawkins explained while appearing on The Howard Stern Show last year.

Joking that it had “p*ed me off, actually”, the drummer said: “We were playing somewhere in England and we’d just flown over and literally had had like two hours sleep and we were doing a show in some ambassador’s back yard or something.

“He walked in, Prince Harry, and he had a bunch of his people around him. He goes, ‘How you doing?’ and I’m like, ‘I can’t wake up, so tired. I gotta play, I can’t wake up.’”

Hawkins then described the royal slapping him around the face with a “bam” noise.

“I went, ‘You motherf*er!” he said. “And then his two guys are right there. He was like, ‘You awake now?’ or something like that. I was like, ‘Yeah.’

I got slapped in the face by the prince. That’s OK really, if you think about it. But in the moment, I was like, ‘You f*ing slapped me, dude

The Australian life guard almost clocked him one after he slapped his ass! , then pulled himself up when he saw who it was! , one day Harry will pick the wrong victim and his bodyguards won’t be there to facilitate his abuse!

I’m unsure where twisting the nipples of strangers or pinching their bum cheeks fits into hurt toddler territory.

It looks more sexually driven to me. Maliciously so. Predatory.

It is like an ambush strike where the deed is done before anyone can protest.

And I think it is done because he is a prince and he thinks he should get off with it.

Do I think some of his behaviour stems from hurt?

No. Not any more. I think it stems from bitterness, entitlement, selfishness and an innate unpleasantness.

The way Harry slapped the lifeguard's arse was vile, and I don't understand why it's been virtually overlooked by the media.

The poor lifeguard was just doing his job on a no doubt stressful day, appearing before the cameras and dealing with his faux royal visitor. And gets publicly humiliated, on camera, while he's powerless to react. It's abusive behaviour from Harry and it's really time he faced some consequences for his actions. Sooner or later he's either going to assault the wrong person and end up with a punch in the face, or -and I really, really hope this happens - he gets arrested and answers for his abuse in court.

invitadeficere · 12/09/2026 19:43

I would hope no one tries to justify or explain that type of behaviour.

It is absolutely inappropriate at best - abusive at worst.

It cannot be explained away as a bit of a hoot. He is too old for a cheeky chappie persona.

I don’t understand this kind of behaviour between close friends. I really can’t fathom why anyone would do that to strangers.

I don’t condone violence but I would completely understand someone reacting instinctively when they are touched inappropriately.

I don't worship the royal family but H&M interest me out of pure nosiness. I'm a dual citizen currently living in the US so it peaked my interest when they moved here. I hoped that they'd settle happily and have been astonished at how it's all panned out. I hope they get it right for themselves this time, but I'm already wondering tbh.

Hope you don’t mind me quoting you @BruFord

“I hope they get it right for themselves this time, but I'm already wondering tbh.”

I’m not wondering. They apparently posted this and felt the need to mention Archewell not once but twice.

They are always trying to insert themselves and Archewell where they just shouldn’t be. Always.

I’m only surprised they didn’t sign off ‘as ever’…
