I think that the whole thing is a tragedy.
The reality is that the RF are short on people. Princess Anne is hugely overworked for her age and at th3 end of the day, King Charles is getting older and ill. The QC is also ill. The POW has only recovered from cancer. PH might have been a useful addition.
Why does this matters? As someone with a disabled son I acknowledge that royal patronage is useful for eg fund raising. I was involved in a NAS ball and we had no hope of getting Princess Anne who is too busy. There are other disability groups that my son uses and they lack patronage which would be really useful for events etc . They could do with high profile support to fund raise etc.
We literally have the RF living up the road so actually an extra member would be useful because like it or not, the RF are stretched too thin. It’s only when you see the work that charities do and how association with the RF helps that you realsoe their significance.
