Good on King Charkes nipping their shit in the bud & reminding them of their station!

Harry and Meghan ‘caught off guard’ by King’s decision over their status

The couple were reportedly ‘surprised’ by the memorandum issued by King Charles

Yeah it’s ridiculous but we knew this, they just beleived the hype when they got married and thought they could be bigger than the royals be very rich and a list. They never intended to be private citizens, it just suited the narrative.

its all just really embarassing for them, it would have been much classier to say something like respect the kings postion, the agreement stands, and we look forward to our charity endeavours, not can you call us public figures which is so petty and cringeworthy,

TheBayHorse · 09/09/2026 13:37

Well surely it's up to other people to define them that way. They can't demand it. What's the definition of a "public figure" anyway?

Tabbytiger122 · 09/09/2026 13:40

The return the UK has been absolutely humiliating for them & they aren't even here a wet week.

This all sounds like level of security and PR stuff to me but I am no PR or RAVEC expert.

I wonder if it was thought that classing them 'public figures' would mean the headlines today would be speculating about taxpayer funded security again?

I think this is a tricky line the palace PR people are walking, I guess they are used to that, though.

I suppose also, that 'private citizens' rather than 'public figures' would also discourage speculation about 'rival courts' as has been written about by some media outlets.

They want to make money, be rich and hang with the a listers, intended to bolster their rep by doing charity work here as pseudo royals. So calling them private citizens makes that very hard for them,

Yes, I don't doubt it.

The prodigal sons return is not going according to plan😂
They can't actually believe anybody takes them seriously! They are comical!

The Kray twins, Jimmy Savile, Rolf Harris and Coco the Clown were all regarded as 'public figures'. Just saying...

Is his Uncle Andy a public figure or private citizen now?! Just out of interest who funds Andy's security?

Andrew funds his own security. Andrew doesn't go out much, though.

Well if Andrew can fund his own Ham definitely can

They really wind me up as they've ignored all good advice and made such a predictable mess of things. They could be in year 8 of being well trained, and probably well loved, royals by now if they'd not flounced and kept blabbing to the press.

Why can't they just zip it, stop leaking and keep their heads down? They have to keep picking don't they....

Greygreenlandscape654 · 11/09/2026 10:02

Can no one see the irony?

Take a look at the Royal Family board on here.

For every thread about different members of the family, there are about five or six for Meghan and Harry.

One of them discussing their PR disasters is in its 37th version.

The very people who ridicule the idea of them being public figures are making them so.

It's not about the press and how many bad articles are written about them . It's the legality of their status in relation to the RF.

This is absolutely correct, Meghan was so well received by the British public initially & could have been incredible.
However her horrific treatment of her father & also her whole extended family definitely raised alarm bells. Meghan was obviously used to a very dysfunctional dynamic to not want her father or any extended family at her wedding? Why? Was she afraid what they may reveal about her or was she just simply embarrassed?

I think the fact they were so popular and their star so high when they married is actually what led to their downfall. They believed the hype. Especially with people like Oprah and the clooneys attending.

they didn’t want to be second to William and Kate, and be public servants, they wanted to ride that wave to a list fame and fortune. Thinking thr royal family were keeping them in a box when they were so much more. And of course Netflix and Spotify all pledging millions for them solidified that in their minds,

sadly. As they dint have any skills. And decided their best way to start off was to sell out the royal family for money and fame, it was down hill from the start.

and they’ve not been able to claw it back. They had some amazing opportunities, for example Spotify, but Megan didn’t even bother to do most of the interviews, instead letting a staffer do it and dubbing over her voice after, onky deeming to do the two very famous individual ones

megan has tried to work, but she’s way out of her depth. Everything she’s tried is not her skill set. Which is acting skills. But no where near the pull of a Julia Robert’s or Meryl Streep, she was just part of en ensemble cast on a legal soap.

Harry I think knows he’s just good at hand shaking. And hasn’t really attempted much else.

He’s a public disgrace! H&M are too, different reasons but they’re a disgrace too

And the Clooneys then tried to give Ham the bums rush by saying they didn't even know them when they were invited to the wedding 😑 It's been a very embarrassing journey for Ham but I think the treatment of poor Thomas Markle & all her extended family is very telling. Samantha Markle wasn't wrong at all.

They wanted to be private citizens
and they are, and it works. How many photos of their children have you seen? Come on, show us.

Will and Kate want their children to have a "normal" and grounded childhood, and George just started Eaton,

Not sure why you are focusing and hating one couple when the rest of the family is much worst in term of hypocrisy.

But that’s an even more absurd argument to say that the son of the monarch and the brother to the next king doesn’t qualify as a public figure.

I think people are being deliberately obtuse about this bc they almost gleefully want them to fail at anything they do

And when people say they want to be private citizens; first they never wanted that, they always wanted to continue doing charity work in some capacity and second they can’t just try and do ordinary work bc the press would ruin it for them, so what do you expect them to do?

I think KC pays for his security

ShanghaiDiva · 11/09/2026 12:42

They are public figures: the son and dil of the reigning monarch.
I assume what they want is a pseudo working royal role- which they walked away from when it was made clear they were either in or out. No doubt there will be some charities/organisations who will want their patronage, but this will be as public figures and not as working royals.

IAmNotMyJobTitle · 11/09/2026 12:51

They apparently moved away to have privacy and not be in the public eye, but now want to be known as public figures so not sure how that works. 🤷‍♀️
And why do they think there should be positive comments from the rest of the royal family when they said all those awful things about them? 🙄
