Oh fgs - can’t you see that H is a super-privileged spoilt brat with an emotional age of about 10 who’s made a career of whingeing about having the best gig in the world- all that wealth and privilege with none of the restrictions and duties that his brother will have?

He’s an awful human being and totally unself-aware .

No, I quite like Harry. He’s one of the better ones imho. He may be , damaged, entitled, over privileged but that applies to many of them and at least he is honest about his avarice😃. And he was genuinely good at his job when he did it. And he is baulking against the system somewhat which is always interesting !

Can’t you see that all that wealth and privilege is corrupting whoever you are?

Why does the UK need a Head of State who is as rich as Creusus whose finances are shrouded in secrecy in 2026?

And I am very sorry that Charles is seriously ill but British citizens are paying £137.9 million during the 26-27 fiscal year to support the monarchy and we are not allowed to know anything but the most cursory of information about our Head of State’s health. This lack of transparency wouldn’t be allowed in any other organisation.

This is an example of deference gone too far which has allowed many of them to get away with poor or dubious behaviour, largely related to finance. Carrier bags of cash anyone?

I am responding to points made by others. I am not creating the threads!

Or some of mental breakdown, which given what he must have seen when in the services, would not be a total surprise.

He did not see any action.
He was and still is, useless.

They can’t just fuck off and lay low though can they because a thousand commentators making podcasts or writing articles are dependent on them for income at this point.

I presume this is a joke.
Obviously, they're not not making announcements, for example, about Harry's September "engagements" for the good of various commentators.
Unless "Commentators in Crisis" is their new charitable venture?

Everyone says “oh they can live quietly like Princess Anne or Edward” but when those two were newly married and had children, mobile phones weren’t invented, or they weren’t as common, and the media landscape was completely different to how it is today.

Spurious argument.
Many famous people live quietly in the "media landscape" as it is today.
What have mobile phones got to do with it?

I presume this is a joke

That is a worryingly literal response!

They can do but they usually have to have a big expensive wall of security around them.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on the principle of constitutional monarchy but no, H comes over to me very strongly as an unpleasant person. He just screams “entitled bully”. Look at his treatment of

Taylor Hawkins
you g women at the pool party
disabled matron at his prep school (the bastard actually names he as well as insulting and humiliating her)
Various security personnel he’s been assigned

Plus, I just cringe when the virtue-signalling starts, from someone who was clearly a racist and a misogynist before M told him it wasn’t cool.

No, sorry - whatever walk of life H was in I’d avoid, avoid, avoid.

Don't be ridiculous - it's neither worrying (why would it be?) or literal.
I still presume what you said about commentators relying on them as a joke, as was my "Commentators in Crisis" reply.
Please explain what I'm missing, if I've misunderstood, rather than throwing random terms around.

They can do but they usually have to have a big expensive wall of security around them.

And/or live quietly.
You still haven't explained the relevance of mobile phones.

Certainly from what I saw with my own eyes at airports and on aircraft over the years a lot of famous people are quite happy to navigate the whole air travel process, including standing at the baggage belt, all on their own, no heavies in tow, not even PA....and often then jump on the tube (London) or grab a cab/taxi.

Do you really think most actors, footballers or other celebrities walk around with a big 'wall of security'? From what I can see, most of them just get on with their lives. You see people way more famous than the Sussexes out with their children, having a coffee, talking on their phone without an escort of burly bodyguards. Possibly there's a discreet security guy accompanying them, though I doubt it. And even so, that's not a 'wall of security'.

In any case, if Harry feels he needs that 'wall', it's up to him to pay for it.

shanghainights · 12/09/2026 10:51

His announcement of his itinerary for the next few months ? 🤷‍♀️
Thought he was worried about his security ? 🤷‍♀️
He thinks he is so important that everyone wants to know . Tosser.

BillieWiper · 12/09/2026 10:54

I actually genuinely don't understand how H makes a living? I suppose if it's public speaking then he could be classed as a public figure. But if he's 'public' then we have to pay for him presumably? No thanks.

Some after-dinner speakers (ex-politicians, famous journalists, celebrity authors etc) can make good money - and they usually write their own speeches, but seriously - what has H got to say that anyone would pay to listen to?

His spoutings fall into 2 categories- not always discrete - either his fascinating (NOT) psychological history, or virtue-signalling cliche.

Yes, but they aren't children of the monarch.

Whether we like the man or not, or agree with his methods. He still is a "valuable" person who is a target and is targeted

Whether the risk is so high he needs walls of security, RAVEC, bullet proof glass etc is up for debate.

But we should remember his position really.

That's the thing though. He holds no 'position'. Yes, he's the King's son, so not just a random person. But simply being the son of the monarch does not necessarily mean he's a high value target who needs taxpayer funded protection. As has been said approximately 1000 times on these threads, the Queen's sons and daughter, other than Charles, did not receive round the clock protection. And unlike Harry, they do actually represent the monarchy and do have an official 'position'. Harry does not.

If his 'position' puts him at such high risk, how has he managed perfectly fine without official protection for years? Often leaving his children behind while he and his wife travel to another continent? And why does he divulge his plans in advance if he's so concerned about security?

Yeah he's too thick to write speeches and nothing of note has really happened to him he hasn't already bleated on about to death. It's really cringe how they came back and nobody cares about them and they just can't get their heads round it.

As @Icedpurple has noted being son/daughter of the monarch does not in itself entitle an individual to 24/7 armed close protection.

If he feels he needs a wall of security (unarmed in the UK) he's a liberty to pay for it out of his own funds..

Yes we’ll have to agree to disagree.

To me he screams “hurt toddler” who takes his suitcases down to the garden gate threatening to leave and thinks “oh no, I was just testing but it’s actually true they don’t care”

I’ve no idea for sure as I don’t know them but Charles strikes me as someone who needs quite a lot of propping up by Camilla and therefore he perhaps wasn’t able to give Harry the reasurrance he needed in what was always going to be a difficult transition.

Charles certainly wasn’t as generous as his mother when allocating accommodation to offspring and that’s overall a good thing; but the new relative “parsimony” only seemed to apply to H & M. Charles didn’t divest himself of one of his many houses! In fact he’s bought more! AMW until recently and S and E all living very comfortably indeed.

All of them in my opinion practice HIHO in some form or another. Again, it’s just Harry who has to actually follow the rules.

I’ve read the accounts of PPOs who looked after AMW and they weren’t pretty and others talking about Harry in his youth falling out of nightclubs. Nothing too unusual there I would have thought. Except many biographies say that William was just as active a party goer but as heir he was shielded from exposure.

I dislike virtue signalling intensely too but I sincerely hope that Meghan has taught Harry some very direct lessons about race and he obviously needed them growing up in the environment he did. He admitted to being bigoted and not having the right degree of awareness on this issue and I admire that he was honest about it, whereas some posters use it as a bat to beat him with over and over again.

And why shouldn’t he complain about a female matron? I had a female teacher in prep school who should never, ever have been in the vicinity of children, never mind teaching them. There was one female member of staff in Harry’s school (not sure if same person or not, or even same time as Harry) who was notorious for shutting desk lids down hard on children’s knuckles. Just because staff members are female it doesn’t automatically exonerate them from cruelty. And disability isn’t an excuse either.

The Beaufort House pool party incident wasn’t good but it was a sixteen year old’s clumsy attempt at breaking the ice. A very bad misjudgement. As was the naked strip poker incident in LA but stupid high jinks rather than anything bullying or vicious I would have said.

Taylor Hawkins Hawkins told Howard Stern that he was heavily jet-lagged and tired before going on stage. When he complained to the prince about being too tired to wake up, Prince Harry playfully slapped him across the face to snap him out of it. Hawkins later said he wore the royal slap "with pride" and that he found it hilarious. So not sure what the issue is there?

I have pedantically gone through all of these in detail to demonstrate that you can twist these stories whichever way you want according to whether you are inclined to like Harry or not!

CoffeeCantata · 12/09/2026 11:41

@Greygreenlandscape654

Just on the matron…I don’t know if you’re read Spare (I’ve only read excerpts - I couldn’t stomach much of it) but the natron had done nothing wrong other than, as H put it, to not be “hot”. He describes some other female first - might have been another staff member - as being hot, then lays into this lady whose appalling crime was to be unattractive to his pubescent self and describes how he and his mates used to routinely torment her, knowing that her disability made it difficult for her to stop them. Nice.

i find that people who do things like that, and the other nasty things H has done (that we know about…) are telling us who they are.

I have read Spare. I got the impression that H could have said more but chose not to.

But the point being that Harry put this in the book himself in the spirit of saying what a brat he was presumably? He was a child. Lots of people do things as children they are not proud of.

He names the matron, the cruel idiot.

And I know that a habit bullies often manifest is…first they do the bullying, and then they recount it, either to get laughs or (so they claim) as a kind of confession. I don’t necessarily buy that!

But if you read this anecdote there is more a sense of “ this was great fun and why should an ugly old menial expect anything else? What - she’s a human being too, with feelings that might be hurt? Really?”

To me, it stinks and fits with his other horrible behaviour.
