Ham are now asking to be called "public figures".. wtf! They wanted to be private citizens which is why they left the RF..Is this to try & get security.
Good on King Charkes nipping their shit in the bud & reminding them of their station!

Harry and Meghan ‘caught off guard’ by King’s decision over their status

The couple were reportedly ‘surprised’ by the memorandum issued by King Charles

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why AI isn't taking over any day soon.
Unless it bores us all to death.

DelectableMe · 13/09/2026 13:24

@Greygreenlandscape654 - "the heart of this is a dispute between two brothers" ?
No. The heart of this is a couple who wanted to be royal on their terms and to benefit from the titles, status and wealth with no restraints or criticism from the press or public.
It's absolutely nothing to do with William, but I am intrigued how some people - like Harry - continue to blame him.

@Greygreenlandscape654

“He did accuse the family of racism and he had to back track on that I believe because he was possibly threatened legally or in some other way if he didn’t recant.”

Do you have any foundation for this? Or is that just guesswork? Because it’s quite a shocking accusation.

invitadeficere · 13/09/2026 13:28

Sorry if that upsets anyone!

Without wishing to be rude, I was always told you should say sorry only if you mean it.

I’ll agree that at its heart is a problem between brothers.

Because one brother was a bad lot who could not see how privileged he was and was completely bitter that he was spare.

Funny when some consider it such a millstone in 2026 and yet the root of all the unpleasantness can be attributed to not being the heir.

Or else why bleat about being Spare?

Possibly is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

@jeffgoldblum

Your faux concern is something that other republicans have used before

My favourite was a while back when someone "sympathised" that Catherine couldn't just pop down to Tesco...

God, yes! I'd be feeling the pain of not having to fetch a pint of milk while I was at a film premiere.

Let alone the fact she is seen at the shops.
Unlike HAM who were apparently having difficulties buying a pencil case without being seen...🙄

I remember! , I do my shopping online because I hate it! , any excuse not to pop to Tescos I gladly use!
but yes there are many pictures and references to most of the royals doing their own shopping ( probably Waitrose though! 😁)

TheOvertGardener · 13/09/2026 13:37

“But at its heart imho this still remains a dispute between two brothers ”

Only one brother appears to be engaged in said dispute.

I haven’t time to respond to everyone individually about the framing of this as a family dispute to somehow lessen the impact of what Harry has supposedly done, but that wasn’t my intention at all, because I simply don’t see his so called misdemeanours as being serious enough to warrant that frankly.

Harry did not say that King Charles overstepped his constitutional boundaries; as I recall, H explicitly clarified that he never asked the King to intervene in the RAVEC case and only wanted officials to "let the experts do their jobs” in relation to his security dispute.

He did accuse the family of racism and he had to back track on that I believe because he was possibly threatened legally or in some other way if he didn’t recant. Unlike many of you on here, I don’t find it improbable that Meghan faced some racism from some members of the RF.

Unlike some of you on here, I don’t find it improbable that the RF use bullying tactics on people who oppose them in some way either. We know from Lownie’s work that they do frequently use NDA’s and legal letters to silence people. I don’t trust blindly that the RF are a completely benign force for good. Sorry if that upsets anyone!

They undoubtedly do some very good things but why do they need to shield themselves behind such a thick wall of secrecy if everything they are doing is above board?

And on that point; whenever there has been an enquiry in to an issue eg Dumfries House financing, alleged access for passports, minor alleged money laundering, bags for cash etc, the RF are rarely, if ever, found guilty and sometimes, someone else takes the fall. But dodginess is often apparent shall we say! So why do you all trust them so wholly?

Yet those of you who have responded to my posts still refuse to even consider the possibility that the RF and/or the institution did anything wrong when handling H and M. This is unrealistic imho.

The essence of the issue is that if you have a hereditary monarchy then family issues do become state ones and vice versa. Good examples of this are: Edward VIII’s abdication, Princess Margaret’s potential marriage and Princess Diana’s funeral.

To my mind this is problematic; the very fact that family issues do become state ones is something we do not need as a group of countries in 2026. We do not need these issues dominating our headlines when there are far more serious things to think about.

But at its heart imho this still remains a dispute between two brothers with its origins in childhood. Without wishing to sound rude, whether some of you think I am being sincere about this, or not, is a complete irrelevance,

Apologies but I can’t read such a long post on mobile, could you trim it down to the essentials?

Possibly is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

This poster does a lot of that.
They can pretty much read anything they like into "Spare" because they have read Spare. I got the impression that H could have said more but chose not to.
So they made up a load of nonsense about the disabled matron on the back of their impression.

Perhaps because one brother is protected by the BP PR machine and financed to a greater extent than the other? That is incredibly devisive.

I believe that possibly that the only decent person in the RF is the lovely H who has been done wrong.

And I’m Ruud Gullit. And very, very sorry…

It's William's fault.

That’s not what I said at all.

It’s likely that there were errors on both sides.

We know from Lownie’s research that BP used NDAs and other legal means to silence people who oppose them in any way,

I don’t blame William or Harry actually.

They were both born in to a hellish situation.

I think it is because they are possessed of vastly different characters.

Harry does not appear to be willing to take advice so it would be impossible to protect him. Even from himself.

And so was H before he went full gobshite.

It is only now, without the BP PR machine we are getting to see the real H.

Harry and Meghan would still be financed by the RF if they'd remained working royals - they decided to go it alone

It’s no more hellish than most of us endure in the life. (Western world inhabitants, I mean.)

I used to love Father Ted 😃

But that’s a complete misrepresentation of what I am saying.

And of course some of you are deliberately misrepresenting my opinions bc it suits your narrative to do so. That’s absolutely fine.

Or one brother is greedy and mendacious.

TheOvertGardener · 13/09/2026 13:52

It’s basically been six years of the “Harry Knows Best” show.

He’s the captain of his own soul.

DelectableMe · 13/09/2026 13:54

Somebody else wrote Spare, gave interviews to Oprah et al and participated in the Netflix series. Obviously.
Maybe it was William in a ginger wig?

Yes if you had bothered to read properly I have previously called Harry weak, impulsive, entitled and over privileged.
