Sorry if this is obvious/already discussed.. I can’t find it.

Im just wondering why Harry can do these ‘engagements’ but his wife and kids can’t step in the country.

I’m sure he’d say he’s not safe but he’s such a hero he’s prepared to risk his life for his country or something. But can’t sacrifice his kids and wife in the same manner.

noonames · 10/07/2026 08:11

‘Sources close to the Sussexes’ came out with this the other day:

“Harry is a big guy, a former soldier and generally pretty robust when it comes to handling these incidents. It's what impact such moments would have on the kids that everyone is most concerned about.”

(It’s not clear which incidents they are referring to, or what they mean by robust when he needed security and police to hold back a crowd of about four the other day.)

Personally I think it's all a big poor me act.

I honestly don't see any reason how they can be safer in the land of guns than in the UK.

Maybe the real answer is KC doesn't trust H&M who can blame him. And wants to keep all of them at arms lenght?

Well it's a pretty big difference. In the US their security team will be pros who carry guns and know how to use them. In the UK they won't be. It's a pretty big difference.

Because there are so many poisonous pockets across the Internet which absolutely hate on MM and post some really unhinged rants.

And because like any father he wants to protect his children as much as possible. This country is racist as the 70s at the moment

DuchessOfPort · 10/07/2026 08:19

I imagine a fair bit of it is about being booed. And they don’t fancy that. And I can see why not! Harry is used to it by now.

Ncforthis2267 · 10/07/2026 08:19

It's just a hugely inflated mega ego. Any of them could walk down the street and grab a coffee or play in a park in pretty much any town or village in the UK, without any security, and at the very worst they would have a few teen girls wanting a selfie.

They haven't quite grasped that in the UK nobody gives a shit about another rich quasi-famous family. We have plenty of our own thanks.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 10/07/2026 08:22

But they don’t need armed security here. We all know that! If they stay away, so what? Most well known people come here without armed security! They are no different. Most people and the RF won’t care. Where is he staying by the way? Has this been established?

Unlike the US of course, where he has chosen to raise them well away from a secure royal residence, and where there are more guns than people.

CheeseWisely · 10/07/2026 08:25

Quite @Ncforthis2267 We’ve never even seen the kids properly, they could be playing in the public Kensington Gardens play area with a nanny all day long and nobody at all would be any the wiser! I wonder how much of this huge threat to all of them is genuine, and how much of it is imaginary.

What a ridiculous comment! This is nothing to do with race.

Because Meghan is a global superstar and Harry isn't. He's just a mere Prince.

Vintlet · 10/07/2026 08:30

I really don’t think Meghan understands that the security is not personal to Harry. Princess Anne, Prince Edward, who both are active working members of the Royal Family do not get twenty four hour protection. Nor do their children use Prince Princess titles. It must be so frustrating for the Royal Family that Prince Harry makes up grievances based on inaccurate assumptions.
The Royal Family work for the country. When a working member works ( Open a new hospital/ Public building, Cancer unit), they are given police protection. Harry and Meghan chose not to be working members and become private citizens. They have every right to do this but they no longer have rights to twenty four hour security.
Princess Anne is the hardest working Royal. Neither of her two husbands are/ were working Royals. Her current husband does husbandly duties and attends funerals etc with his wife but he doesn’t go with her when she is ‘working’.
I think Meghan thinks that being born royal is like being a Disney princess. Modern working royals are expected to do just that. Be figureheads and serve the country. The Mountbatten Windsor family is separate and just like any other family, flaws and all. They are not magic, Disney people. They do not have blue blood, divine powers etc. They are very ordinary. Someone needs to explain this to Meghan. She is intelligent. I think it is quite wrong that they refer to their children as Prince and Princess. It reminds me of Katie Price naming her daughter Princess. I think Harry and Meghan should embrace a life that they have chosen. Enjoy living in a republic and leave royal pretensions behind.

FabStick · 10/07/2026 08:30

I suppose he can choose the level of risk he's happy to take but doesn't want to put his children into that situation.

Not the biggest Harry fan but he's not wrong to be concerned about this.

Screamingabdabz · 10/07/2026 08:32

To paraphrase South Park, it’s all part of the ‘wah, wah, wah’ victim paranoia that MM has instilled in him. ‘Every flash bulb’ killing his mother or some such bilge. Let them stay away. They’re nothing.

Shocking that someone would stoop so low as to boo at innocent children.

Yes, I think on the news recently when they were discussing security it was reported that there had been something like 7 terrorist threats made against Harry. Whether they were recent threats I don't know, but the fact he served in the Army makes him a target.

I agree. And yet such behaviour was staunchly defended on here after Trooping the Colour.

Has there ever been a situation where these 'pros' have needed to draw arms to protect the princeling? I doubt it.

In any case, they may be 'pros' but they are just private citizens with no access to the intelligence Harry seems to think is needed, and no special rights or privileges with regard to the use of firearms.

People far richer, more famous and more important than Harry manage perfectly well without armed security. London is a very safe city for the rich and famous, which is why so many have made their home there.

This came from a security report commissioned by Harry from his own security team, seemingly for the sole purpose of leaking it to the media. As he frequently complains, his team has no access to intelligence, unlike RAVEC, who assess the risk every time he comes and found this time that armed security was not necessary.

BemusedAmerican · 10/07/2026 08:44

I have never heard of Archie and Lili being booed in the US. I don't think the average American would recognize them in the street. I wouldn't - they look like average kids. Lili possibly worse dressed than the average child.

LaliqueSaltGrinder · 10/07/2026 08:49

If they wanted to be here quietly and unobtrusively they absolutely could be. As someone said, nobody would recognise the children. People wouldn't glance twice at Meghan with her hair in a pony tail, no make up, jeans and t-shirt playing with the kids. Just another American tourist family. Kate managed to climb the three Peaks with her brother a few weeks ago and that was safe enough.

But Harry doesn't want a nice quiet visit with the children to see his Dad, he wants all the pomp and frills and proper royal treatrment, which he's not offered, so throws a strop.

Is that last comment really necessary?

exactly - lets not forget Princess Anne has in fact been subject to an actual kidnapping attempt and still doesn't throw down like this demanding 24hr armed police.
