We are running with reduced power. The AC doesn't get really cool and the fans move slowly. You have to open a frig as little as possible to preserve the cold. The city has been handing out dry ice to keep food cool.
We have 2 people in wheelchairs who essentially cannot leave the building but they have family. The building is 6 stories so walking up and down is a drag but manageable. People actually trekked down to do laundry which I think is a bad idea. Save power and wait. Also the hot water has been affected by the power cut.
In some buildings a block over, they have electric pumps for the water ( we don't need them). When they go down, the residents have no water. A few years ago, the city sent people into those buildings to give water and dry ice to homebound residents.
They are keeping the grid reduced to prevent a complete blackout. Only a few more days.
