Goodness.

This seems pretty surprising when W's already under fire for his supine work ethic

Guess simpering at sycophants is a little more soothing than sweltering in velvet curtains while being barracked by protestors asking who knew what and when about MW.

I’m not surprised that previous posters asked if you were ok on another thread, your posts although the opposite opinion to mine were always measured with some humour but recently they have become really unpleasant.

🤣🤣🤣 nice try!
I knew you were joking! The vitriol was just too much!
Anyway, I thought it was enjoyable as well.
Freedom for Tooting! 🤣

🤣😂😅

Love your reference to Tooting! C'mon Wolfie!!

BemusedAmerican · 03/07/2026 21:07

Prince William on the Kelce show showed up on several US news channels today. The impression was really positive. The clips made him look funny and approachable.

One channel even showed Catherine at Wimbledon and mentioned that she didn't sit in the royal box. She looked great.

The US is a UK ally. William and Catherine are represently your country beautifully. Yes, that is soft power.

BTW, it is over 100 Fahrenheit here in NY. The Wales family should stay in Windsor.

Who pissed on your chips today?

simpsonthecat · 03/07/2026 21:16

I have to say I have no idea what 'soft power' means when it comes to the US at the moment.
Starmer can go crawling up Trumpy's arse with a second royal visit embarrassing and it means nothing. He would turn on you for literally anything so Kate sat next to him smiling and pretending she's enjoying his company at a royal visit means absolutely nowt. Ditto William on some podcast that is primed for the US. It means nothing AFAIC

If someone can show me true value of this I'd listen.

That's interesting. I saw the film from Wimbledon and Kate was selling tickets and chatting to the fans milling around and posing for selfies. She looked really great, friendly and approachable. I'm glad she's obviously well 🤞

Well, I've been seeing lots of UK cheeses in my local supermarkets as well as tea, imported crumpets, etc. I buy the cheeses, which I think are better than US cheddar.

I, as well as co-workers and friends, have Britbox subscriptions. One of my friends just got back from three weeks in Wales and England.

So we see the UK in a very positive manner, represented by charming royals. And we are spending money on your country because of this perception.

IHadaMarvelousTimeRuiningEverything · 03/07/2026 21:24

I read that Prince William and Catherine were invited to the wedding but had to decline.

Well you've never managed a bit of banter back so I was under the impression you always thought they were pretty unpleasant.

My bad 😀

(Is it just me who hates the updated emojis looking like something out of a horror film and nothing like the touted form?!)

Yes, I read that too. I suppose they don't want to go down that celebrity route. This podcast just right, though.

The level of worldwide racism, sexism and xenophobia is unprecedented in my memory.
We could use any and every friendly interaction between individuals and countries possible at this dire time.

The coverage of World Cup from US has been so uplifting. This is just more of the same.

No sychophancy there at all.

I believe he was introduced with a list of made up royal titles?

They missed out the Scottish ones

BemusedAmerican · 03/07/2026 21:32

The World Cup tourists seem to be enjoying themselves here in NYC. The NYC tourism board revamped their website very impressively.

Yes, great points. Anything which brings people together is good. On the podcast the guys had really good banter about soccer v football, and I thought it was just a good natured bit of fun.
There is so much hatred and division in the world, why make it worse.

They called him Lord of the Isles.

I do love a made up title.

Like ‘living legend of aviation’.

Good to hear. Our cheese is good compared to spray cheese lol

What works for me are those that come over here and really love our food, there's one guy who has millions of followers and he has been all over the UK up and down loving everything from fish 'n chips, a roast farm to fork, to a cornish pasty.
