Harry and RAVEC - claims he was trapped by RF

Okay. So first of all thanks to everyone on the last thread for a really civilised discussion about Harry and his security. The Telegraph has an exclusive article where Harry claims that his security was removed to “trap” him in the RF. I’m really sorry but for some reason I am unable to archive Telegraph articles at the moment. Could anyone help?

Article here. Sorry trying to link

It wasn't removed until months after he "left" also didn't they say at the time the (then) prince of wales was paying for it privately in Canada? He was paying them money for months

ARainyNightInSoho · 11/04/2025 19:09

What does the article say? I was only able to read the first few sentences. Paywall.

smilesy · 11/04/2025 19:09

The gist is that he claims some of the evidence that was revealed in the in camera session over the last couple of days backs up his claim that the RF tried to prevent him from leaving. He doesn’t say what this evidence was

Yes I know. That’s why I asked if anyone could archive it. For some reason when I try the page can’t be found 🤷‍♀️

I think he has buyer’s remorse and is now realising that Megxit should have happened after he sorted out the details like security rather than him flouncing off on his “Freedom Flight” I bet that his grandmother would have allowed him and Meghan to take a year off and only appear at big events like Trooping since they didn’t take the customary newly wed year off.

So after the case concludes, Harry runs straight to the press to leak stories about how badly he was treated, but we can't know what this evidence is so have to take his word for it? Nah, mate, I don't buy it.

Has the judge's ruling on his case come back then?

Munnygirl · 11/04/2025 19:21

Total laughable. The victim tour continues

Placcyboel · 11/04/2025 19:25

Ha ha, straight out of the Trump handbook. Gaslighting and thinking that everyone will buy the shite he is peddling. Shocking details behind closed doors my arse.

BreadInCaptivity · 11/04/2025 19:28

I was about to write something more eloquent but decided I CBA so I will just go with….

What a knobber.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/04/2025 19:28

“People would be shocked by what’s being held back,” he said, adding that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case and that’s really sad”

So since this is useless without context and many don't believe what he says anyway, how long will it be until Harry reveals what was heard in camera? Hmm

smilesy · 11/04/2025 19:31

Yes I’m still none the wiser as to what he wants to get out of this. I can’t imagine that many people would have been surprised that his security would be removed if he left the country, so quite why it was a shock to him, I’m not sure. What security is he complaining about? Security in theUK? He left. security in the US? Why would that be covered by the UK?

What a bizarre line of thinking - they wanted to keep me so they removed my security. They want me back. He's even more addled than I thought.

CorneliaCupp · 11/04/2025 19:43

So, he wanted 24/7 security provided by met police officers and paid for by the British taxpayer while he lived in California?

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 11/04/2025 19:47

I'm not sure that gentleman is thinking particularly clearly, or has been for quite a while now. His family must be pissed off with him, but also terribly worried about him. I'm not sure I'd want to be married to someone so simultaneously delusional and angry.

Hazeby · 11/04/2025 19:48

It’s slightly smacks of his security being removed as some sort of retaliation or punishment. I really hope that’s not the case.

MargaretThursday · 11/04/2025 19:48

I would have thought under data protection he wouldn't be allowed to see any information that would give names, or make it clear who it was.

His lawyers, yes they could, but surely they shouldn't be giving this sort of detail to either side?

I suspect though his theory of using the press is approximately the same as a certain local political party of: If we get a lie out there first, people will remember it above any subsequent retraction if we have to make one.

But also the thing that would shock me is if the RF was trying to pressurise them to continue with his security. I wouldn't find it shocking to find that they'd recognised that his position meant he shouldn't have full time security paid for by the tax payer, because that's clearly common sense.

Who knows? I have no idea why he thinks that would even be possible 🤷‍♀️

He is so determined that the World is against him it seems that he just assumed he would always receive security, completely ignoring the fact that security is there for those who actively take part in RF duties) and for many, only when undertaking those duties). He just assumes that because of who he is, he warrants 24/7 security. But it would have been downgraded eventually anyway as per Anne and Edward. He really does have an over inflated sense of his own importance

The article posted at the end of the last thread has pretty interesting information about the expensive nature of providing security in Canada which they got for months after they left and housing the 15 protection officers.

The team is running up huge bills on flights, cars, wages and overtime as they mount an around-the-clock watch on the couple who have stepped down as frontline royals.
One Royal Protection officer was seen buying food from an organic deli, a favourite of Meghan’s.
A team of up to 15 highly-trained close protection experts – including some Canadian Mounties – are on duty around the couple and nine-month-old son Archie.
The number is higher than previously reported – and the couple’s security detail appears to be using three other houses as well as the main five-bedroom property that the Duke and Duchess are staying at.

Vespanest · 11/04/2025 19:53

But this is backward, surely if this was a conspiracy theory that the royal family and government wanted to trap Harry then leaving protection in place would be more effective. He couldn't just ship himself and his security to any country he wanted and would need to inform the home office of his royal tours.

It only seems like a punishment in Harry’s head. As pp says, common sense would dictate that providing Met security for someone living abroad is not in any way practicable
