AIBU to lose faith and trust in what we get to hear about the royal family?

No.

Harry and Meghan have ruined it. I consider the Royal Family like Father Christmas. The more mystery, the better. Harry and Meghan have over-shared and now its expected of the rest of them. Every picture is now scrutinised. Every action.

Whether they make money or cost money is irrelevant for me. I think they draw people on and give England a magical feel.

No, no trust lost. They are human just like you and me.

I never had any faith or trust in them. I've always considered monarchies unacceptable and undemocratic.

Nothing because I don't see the point of them. Although I don't like the fact that people think they have a right to someone's private medical information. And everybody alters photos these days, except me I"m not tech minded. Hope I"ve covered everything for all the nosey bastards out there.

No, because I never had any to begin with. I want to live in a republic, I may have to emigrate!

Never had faith in them. It's absolutely baffling that in the 21st century we are still subjects and not citizens.

Yabu to have had any faith/trust in them in the first place, unless you know them personally that is.

Well, not really. They're a pointless entity, and are just showing themselves to be so. They're a family of grifters and I wouldn't miss them in any way if they weren't around. They make me a little embarrassed to be British.

Andrew is where it all went wrong for me. At best he's a creepy middle aged man with extremely poor morals. At worst....?

H&M, good for them escaping.

Yes they are clearly (bad) liars who think we are idiots!

DappledThings · 16/03/2024 20:46

No, never given them enough thought to have faith or trust in them. I'm ambivalent about them really. No great fan of any of them but no great hater either. Don't think H&M did anything wrong and don't think the now infamous fake photo from Mother's Day is any big deal.

I never really had any. I never looked up to them or expected anything of them, they are just...there. I'm a republican, but can admire the stickling to tradition etc, but that's the only purpose they serve in my opinion.

Why would anyone have trust or faith in them? To fulfil what role?

No, there was none to lose in the first place for me. The RF put on a show when in public. What they are really like as people, when at home, or with friends the public will never really know.

I think we have a right to expect monarchy not to treat their loyal subjects like idiots and to behave with integrity.

Thankfully I'm not a loyal subject and see straight through them.

No. This whole Kate debacle is ridiculous. She was ill. Had surgery. Is recovering. End of. She photoshopped a picture with minor improvements, like every public figure does. No big deal. I’m not a royalist, but I accept they are there and do a lot of good. They are humans like the rest of us. I wish everyone would leave them alone and get on with their own lives instead of obsessing like some people on social media do!

100%. I feel sorry for them all, it can't be easy and I don't trust the media at all to portray anything accurately, not even remotely.

Yes. Absolutely.

They think we are fools in private, now it seems in public too.

In the age of social media and everyone knowing everything about well known people, it’s inevitable that skeletons emerge from the closet in a way that they didn’t in former generations.

We know that Andrew is a flawed individual at best and possibly something more unsavoury. Before Harry’s decision to defect, he made some unwise decisions, the root of which were probably grief. William dealt with his grief in a different way, but was, apparently, a volatile character.

I think they’ve made errors of judgement recently, but it isn’t really any of the business of the general public.

Just leave them alone. I feel sorry for Kate. She was a simply a mom trying to post a picture with her children on mother's day. The fact that a bunch of tabloids are upset that they can't find her to post pictures of her or get her medical records, picked it to pieces.

Harry and Meghan tried to keep some of their life private. They got hounded out of the country.

Kate is going through now what they went through. Somebody pay attention.

No. Seen ups and downs with the while Diana saga. What’s going on now is tame compared to that. Kate has been poorly and wants some privacy. End off. The whole photo situation is ridiculous.

No
Why ?
Andrew was cancelled and retired

Harry and Megan are no longer a drain on our pockets

If William has been naughty it's not nice but I it's normal every day life shit , he hasn't murdered anyone or abused kids

Unless I've missed something?
Let them crack on I say

I think, like many families, my own included, it all fell apart when mum died. The Queen really was one in a million and I’m not a monarchist but she really was. Just seems a bit pointless now.
