I don't think the UK or the monarchy are racist. When it all started, everyone, including all the news outlets, were super excited to see Meghan. Harry was the favourite and WE were all curious about this new injection of personality.
The issues people have had are how she wanted the royal family to change to her way of thinking. It just wasn't going to happen. She clearly wasn't happy playing second fiddle... so she no doubt put pressure on Harry to leave, or it could just as easily have been her giving him the strength to leave his 'oppression'.
Then they wanted to leave and do their own thing, but still use the royal titles... I'm sorry, but royalists and anti-royalists alike are all going to hate that! You're cashing in on a birth privilege (which the UK could probably vote on and remove at any time!), to make money and not give back to the country. Being royal is a JOB (OK, a pretty cushy job, but still).
Then they do the Oprah interview and basically slam their freebies. And no, I don't think the comments was racist, even Chris Rock said it... even black people would be curious what the baby would look like!
So for seven years they've simply been whining about how hard their lives are because of the royal family, yet using the titles and that influence at every turn. They want their own lives, yet cling onto that past. If they really wanted to have their own life, they would relinquish all ties, get normal, boring office jobs, and in doing so, they will get back the respect of everyone.
I honestly think that's all the rest of the world want. There's no 'half-quitting'... a rare smoker is still a smoker, an occasional sexist is still a sexist, a passive royal is still a royal. All in, or all out. No logos, no netflix deals, no abuse of titles. Harry went to one of the best schools, Meghan is a beautiful 'actress', they have all the doors open for them. Be a decent (non-grifting) human being like the rest of us and you'll be loved, or at least respected again.
