AIBU to lose faith and trust in what we get to hear about the royal family?

What would restore your faith in the royal family?

Nope, I think as a family they are coping with some worrying health and family situations, as we all do in life.
Media's should just back off and let them deal with their problems, we don't need to know every detail.

DewinDwl · 17/03/2024 20:17

To answer your question, yes I have lost faith in the royal family as a result of the kategate debacle.

I am a republican but I don't think the monarchy is in danger in the UK - all legislation and government systems in the UK are based on a monarch and there's no appetite to change that. Apart from that people have their reasons, rational or irrational, to support the monarchy and / or the Windsors.

However the royal family seem to be struggling. I suppose it's yet another British institution in crisis and with no idea how to move forward for the good of the country.

I think for your own sake, you should not listen to these people. You are asking to be taken advantage of. Your posts are incredibly naive.

Thank you for caring about my, "sake"

FYI, I'm not stupid, ignorant, naive and very easily led.

About the RF, let me put it into some context that I'm not easily led.
I have no time for Edward, I have no time for his children, never mind who they marry or not. I have no time at all for Andrew and his ex wife. I do have time for Edwards's wife.

I have some time for Charles and more time for his wife

I had a lot of time for William and Kate, family. Recently, things have changed. I sincerely feel for Kates's health and will always wish her well as well as her family. But, recent fiasco, care of KP has made me think what others have said and have said for years, IE, they feel they could tell us anything and people like me and others like me will just accept it. It's no longer the case.

So as you can see, I'm no fool, not am I easily led but I do have respect for those who are flying the flag for England.

What's Edward done wrong?
He always comes across as the most inoffensive of all of them

I think your post demonstrates that you are easily led, but I dont know you, so that's something for you to work through. How are they ' flying the flag for England' by making us a laughing stock on the world stage?!

Absolutely. Bring on the republic.

Does it, how?

"laughing stock on the world stage" - not at all, its just the Americans gutter press having a lol.

If there was any truth to their BS, our gutter press would have followed through and more importantly, some in our RF have foes and the foes would have been spreading the word.

Therefore, I am standing by what I have said

IMO, people envy William/Kate and given half the chance, they'd readily jump into their boots.

No

Next question?

Doveytail · 17/03/2024 21:07

Bellevu · 16/03/2024 22:07

Yes. The way Harry and Meghan were treated by the firm and press reinforced the deeply entrenched racism and classicism in the UK.

The vitriolic posters on mumsnet and the relentless determination to destroy them for far far less than Andrew or even Charles, Sophie.

When I read some of the posts and threads that @mumsnet permits it tells me more than the country will admit about how ingrained the distain of people of colour really is.

I read those posts and go.to.work and think the next person could be one of those spewing hatefulness about someone who looks like me.

Celebrates black history month, but like the Royal family who have the commonwealth and supposedly rule over a diverse country the acceptance of brown and black folk is conditional. We must stay in our lane of serving only and shut up about injustices against us because the gratitude of being in the same ratified air should outweighs any pain.

The Royal family is the living embodiment of racism and their supporters daily show that those who look like me and our children are not safe, that we're tolerated and and are here on sufferance.

Spot on!

Vitriolinsanity · 17/03/2024 21:07

Others tell me that I have the "gift" of reading people very well, even those I've never physically met.

Brilliant. Having read your posts I'm beginning to think "others" may say the same about me!

You are a snakeoil salesperson psychic?

RoyalDramaLlama · 17/03/2024 21:10

given half the chance, they'd readily jump into their boots.

wrllyeah- never having to wait for an operation, never having to worry about bills, never worrying about your children's education, because they are set for life whatever happens, never having to anything more taxing than read a speech and shake hands, being waited on hand and foot, never having to do any housework or cooking unless they want to cosplay being ordinary people. Of course many people would jump into their shoes!

CathyorClaire · 17/03/2024 21:12

they feel they could tell us anything and people like me and others like me will just accept it. It's no longer the case.

Can you expand on what you no longer accept?

Hello

With respect, do I note a hint of envy?

The reason I admire HRH is that she looks like a model but presents very differently to a model, ie, she is elegant, sophisticated, intelligent, caring, loving and knows what to do and not to do in public. William is a very smart, moderately handsome young man who commands respect and he too is intelligent etc just like Kate. They make the perfect couple and their kids are the icing on a sweet cake.

I've also grown to love Camila as she is touching, caring and very decent.

I am upset about the two pics and I blame KP for that and more so for not allowing the orginal to be shared with those who withdrew the picture, initially.

I dont want to see the unedited pic but will trust the judgement of the two most respected news providers, PA and Reuters.

So, let me guess, you were vehemently talking up Camilla’s caring qualities and decency when the rest of the population was decrying her as the hatchet-faced Jezebel who’d stuck a knife in the back of doe-eyed Di?

My apologies

I have posted on other threads that I was not a fan of hers but in recent months she has grown on me.

How?

You don't know her
None of us do
She might be a hatchet faced bore, or a great fun woman
We. Don't. Know.
Apart from what the palace feeds us
It's all manipulation

I am certain you are not alone. I applaud you for taking information and updating your opinions. Not everyone is able to do that.

AliceOlive · 18/03/2024 00:38

Also, OP, please don’t let others chase you from thread to thread and bully you for your past opinions just because they don’t like what you’ve posted.

LadyMuckonpancakes · 18/03/2024 03:50

I feel very sorry for most of them apart from Andrew. It’s a life no one would wish for themselves . They are in a gilded cage. It’s time it all came to an end. I think they’re all doing their best apart from Andrew , but the heart has gone out of the whole thing since the Queen died. Harry and Meghan have also done enormous damage.

InWalksBarberalla · 18/03/2024 05:28

Twitter is trending that King Charles is dead so they better not put out a heavily photoshopped picture of him next.

Edward and Sophie were like the H&M of their day, and made some dubious business deals (plus Sophie's fake sheikh debacle) but that was a long time ago, and they learnt from their mistakes. Since then they have slaved away at the unglamorous engagements without much fanfare and managed to have a long successful marriage.

Agree, and all the landed gentry who are connected to the RF passing down vast estates that used to belong to the people.
There needs to be reform.
