Harry and Meghan still not replied to Coronation Invitation

Harry and Meghan still haven't replied to the invitation to the coronation even though the RSPV deadline has passed. If it's true I think it's a bit rude. They know the preparation that goes into these events. It must be a headache for the planners not to know if they are coming or not.

Apparently Arche and Lilibet aren't invited to the actual ceremony as they are deemed to be too young. My bet is they will all come to the UK for the coronation but who knows. Not heard if Andrew is coming or not. And Fergie. Will she be there. Maybe behind a pillar.

If it's true

That's the key part of your OP. Who is saying they've not responded?

Whaeanui · 06/04/2023 11:13

You have no idea if they’ve responded to the palace. Neither do the press. It’s between them. Leave them to it.

The media (who never make anything up, ever) of course😅.

MummyJ36 · 06/04/2023 11:17

My prediction is that Harry will come on his own and Meghan and the kids will stay in the US. After everything that’s gone on I just don’t think she’ll risk coming back to boos!! I think Harry will feel a sense of duty to come back.

Nap1983 · 06/04/2023 11:18

😂 he’s probably whatsapped his dad to say he’s coming! ffs how can people care so much or assume to know

Serenster · 06/04/2023 11:30

In early March, a Sussex spokesperson said: "I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation. An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."

As was mentioned by several posters at the time, confirming their intentions would draw a quick end to the media speculation, which is currently keeping them in the news cycle. So it was predicted that they wouldn’t make their intentions clear until they needed to. And so it plays out as predicted…

otherwayup · 06/04/2023 11:31

And you care about this because.....?

Mistymoonsinastarrysky · 06/04/2023 11:33

I suspect they enjoy ramping up the excitement and drama for their many fans (quite frankly I couldn’t give a monkey’s whether they do or not)

It’s Archie’s birthday though, so I’m not sure.

I think it’s likely a real dilemma for them, they will want to go and be part of it, but they won’t want to be publicly booed and mocked for their obvious hypocrisy. They will also want to be a key part, on the balcony, Archie recognised etc. they won’t want to be relegated to the sidelines.

with no other career path to speak of after 3 years away , they have simply made a career out of leveraging their royal connections. If they are seen to lose those, they don’t have much left to sell.

I suspect they know if they are going or not, they are just not saying to make it as difficult as possible for the royal family and their staff. Just another petty act of vengeance.

WeWereInParis · 06/04/2023 11:42

He's only turning 4, tell him it's a different day.

My DD is only a couple of weeks younger than Archie, and DH and I are going to a wedding on her birthday this year, and staying overnight. She'll be fine, we'll just pick the next day to be her birthday instead.

SquashPenguin · 06/04/2023 11:43

How on earth could you possibly know whether Harry has responded? Got a mate working on the post desk of Bucks Palace?

Mumsnut · 06/04/2023 11:51

I imagine there have been a lot of 'requirements' and negotiation.

Whaeanui · 06/04/2023 11:52

You all have such imaginative minds. Do yourselves a favour, put it to better use.

AmandaHoldensLips · 06/04/2023 12:01

Fergie said she's staying home with a coronation chicken sandwich tea and watching it all on the telly. And this information is straight from the horse's mouth. (Not that Fergie's a horse of course.)

Morestrangerthings · 06/04/2023 12:06

Oh yes, the poor planners. (Sarcasm)

MrsMaxDeWinter · 06/04/2023 12:30

So the whole planning of the Coronation hinges on their presence does it?

I thought they were irrelevant and way down in the polls (on both sides of the Atlantic) and not wanted and not welcome???

Why are you fretting about whether they come then?

TrashyPanda · 06/04/2023 12:49

I’m guessing it’s going to be a bit like This Is Your Life…

various Royals, in various carriages process down the Mall.
crowds cheer, wave flags etc.
TV networks film the procession and their entrances into Westminster Abbey
the excitement grows

then, just ahead of the carriage holding the Prince and Princess of Wales, which is immediately ahead of the Coronation Coach, there appears another coach,

who can it be? A silence descends over the crowds.

and a voice booms out over the loudspeakers “You thought they weren’t coming - but here they are! Harry and Meghan! Because, today King Charles, this is your coronation”
the crowds cheer “God Save the King”!

Everybody gets what they wanted
Charles is centre of attention, as he should be
lots of speculation leading up to the big day (column inches = cash)
dramatic entrance for Harry and Meghan, who only flew in that morning
The Sussexes reminded the Royal Family has strict protocol
Charles has his younger son attending
the Sussexes go home that night, thus not straining delicate relations too much.

and it would be nice to think that they all lived happily ever after.

THE END

If it's true. It's far more likely they've been polite and responded.

@MarshaMelrose
Mainly because I find all the frothing and excitement about the Royals totally baffling 😂

Yes, I’m sure if they confirmed their intentions it would definitely end media speculation and we definitely wouldn’t have daily articles on what Meghan might wear, whether they’ll travel by private jet, or what they’d be doing at home instead etc etc

Brilliant. I loved that programme

The RSVP should have had a 'reply by...or we assume you are not coming'. This open ended situation is ridiculous.

I just hope neither come.
