Harry and Meghan still not replied to Coronation Invitation

Harry and Meghan still haven't replied to the invitation to the coronation even though the RSPV deadline has passed. If it's true I think it's a bit rude. They know the preparation that goes into these events. It must be a headache for the planners not to know if they are coming or not.

Apparently Arche and Lilibet aren't invited to the actual ceremony as they are deemed to be too young. My bet is they will all come to the UK for the coronation but who knows. Not heard if Andrew is coming or not. And Fergie. Will she be there. Maybe behind a pillar.

I am not the one making a big deal about Archies birthday. I justv dont think its important when planning a coronation.

Is Tom Cruise invited 🤔
I want to be able to handle rejection like Fergie.

He is, he's stopped production of his film so he's able to attend.

It's was all over the press a month or so ago.

Samcro · 07/04/2023 09:39

i don't think for one minute that Archies birthday was picked by anyone. but isn't it funny that if H&M Do something there are cries of "omg they did that on insert some random birthday/anniversary" makes you realise how silly that is. the RF is large, there will always be something happening.

Whaeanui · 07/04/2023 09:40

@Viviennemary No that’s not what I’m referring to, you said that they’ll like the publicity and ride on the coattails of the coronation for Archie’s birthday. That’s what you just said. It’s mean. He’s a child. Give it a rest.

😂

Yes!

Recently, we had Harry's court case that was timed to overshadow the King's state visit. Never mind that the Courts don't set down cases after consulting the court Circular, it was all Harry's fault.

Then of course there are the numerous times Kate's birthday has been "overshadowed" by various things over the years, including by the publication of "SPARE".

@maeveiscurious are you ok? 🍰

yeh, they knew it was Archie's birthday but there were only ever three or four Saturdays in the running and they had to co-ordinate with presidents and prime ministers bishops and william and anne and edward's diaries too.

It must have been explained somewhere, and I missed it. What was the reason for specifically May? out of around 9 months of the year? just leaving out certain dates on my count, obvs, for holidays etc.

xPaz · 07/04/2023 10:05

Well, one of the Saturdays they originally had in mind was in June but apparently it was a football final, not a football fan, I'm sure I read this MONTHS ago! Their first choice was in June but football comes first!

xPaz · 07/04/2023 10:12

PS, and I'm just recalling speculation from royal commentators, before the date was announced, it had to be late enough in the year not to be cold, early enough in the summer not to be too hot (potentially) and also it seems BBC and sports fans didn't want it to clash with football.

notanotheroneagain · 07/04/2023 10:13

I have to say, though, Harry has the 'worst luck' ever.

  • Out of all the rooms in Clarence House, his bedroom is the one made into a dressing room
  • He gets the basement flat in the maids quarters right next to the parking space to block his window
  • Him and his wife get the most trolling from the press and as a result, SM
  • He asks for help from the palace but they 'forget' that he told them or do anything about it.
  • When he gets married, the palace 'forgets' to immediately move him to a bigger place as per other family members.
  • He renovates his cottage and in no particular order, his costs are put at the top of the list and out of the blue, the media attacks him for it despite there being more costly things on the list. Some even useless and exorbitant like , oh I don't know a driveway for millions .
  • He asks for a wreath to be put down for him at the cenophate, no. Infact, the palace tells him no where in the world. Till an army mate, say f that and puts it down for him in London

That's just off the top of mind.
So, yeah, a series of unfortunate events/coincidences. Just as coincidentally unfortunate as Archie's birthday being the date of coronation.

BlackFriday · 07/04/2023 10:18

Perhaps he just has a persecution complex?
Or maybe he's just not as important as he thinks he is.

Roussette · 07/04/2023 10:20

notanotheroneagain · 07/04/2023 09:11

Haha, @Roussette ,

Years ago, I once had a version of this that I brought in the US. It was very cold and snowy. Mine din't have a hood and was grey. My mates couldn't stop laughing at me and saying I look like a massive hare. It was very snuggly and warm though, so worth the tease.

That brings back memories. 😂😂😂

To add to my bunny suit story. DH and I have matching ones. We haven't worn them for a very long time, the reason I remembered them was DD borrowed one recently as she was the White Rabbit in something and I've just put it back up in the loft.

DH and I wore them to a fancy dress party about 20 years ago, we strolled in hand in hand... and someone shouted "you can tell who's been at it like rabbits!"
Happy Days!

Viviennemary · 07/04/2023 10:21

I must say with regard to Frogmore cottage its not very impressive for a royal residence so I think Harry did have the right to complain about that if he did. Now Andrew has been offered it apparently. Royal punishment cell.

That portrait looks nothing like Meghan!

at first glance I thought it was Kate with shorter hair

I’m no fan of Meghan but the portrait is the spitting image of her and absolutely beautiful.

Isn't it lovely. Reminds me of this portrait of Eddie Murphy.

I don't understand this at all. They are family. His father could make a quick phone call and just say we need to know. Why all this hanging on for a formal reply to a formal invite.

rattymol · 07/04/2023 10:43

Or the truth is they may have said no and Charles is trying to persuade Harry to come.

caringcarer · 07/04/2023 10:44

They are very rude. I think most people would have cut them out by now if they were part of their family.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/04/2023 10:44

notanotheroneagain · 07/04/2023 09:02

Come on now, that Archie birthday date was deliberately chosen by the courtiers out of spite. Charles will unlikely have known nor cared when Archie's birthday is, and probably just signed it off. And the dutiful wife camilla apparently did not remind him either.

I imagine Charles is like most CEOs, the PA or wife have to buy the gifts and flowers and remind him of birthdays and anniversaries.

Put one over Archie every decade they have a jubilee. Phew, the spite is unreal. 😅

Dearie me......

Harry played a polo match on Archie's birthday last year so obviously wasn't overly bothered about spending the whole day celebrating his son's 'special day'.

I'm sure they can find time on his birthday for a slice of cake, a chorus of Happy Birthday and a round of pass the parcel. Or do like most parents do if things clash, and have the celebration the day before/after.

The frothing about the date of the coronation being the same date as a 4 year olds birthday and this being 'spiteful' and unacceptable is hilarious. And shows the lengths people will go to to take/find offence.

rattymol · 07/04/2023 10:46

Archie's birthday was chosen as Charles wanted harry at the coronation but not Meghan. It was deliberate.

And so sweet that you and your DH we're holding hands and that you still kept it.

Don't be ridiculous.

rattymol · 07/04/2023 10:49

Cox most parents have to work on their child's birthday. They still celebrate the day with their child.
In fact I don't know anyone who always celebrates the whole day of their child's birthday. Unless you think a polo match that would have taken harry away for a few hours means he can't then have a family birthday party?
My kids still went to nursery on their birthday. Nobody accused me of not wanting to celebrate their birthdays.

Wow, that Eddie Murphy is so accurate, it looks like a picture, tbh.

And yes, @PollyThePixie when I first saw the portrait there was no doubt in my mind it was MM.

Lovely, this artist is very talented.

You sound so sarky about a little boy's 'special day'. Horrible. If someone wrote like you do about Louis, there would be an absolute meltdown.

FYI polo matches don't last 12 hours.

And just so you know, I have no problem with the Coronation being on his birthday, it would've been hard finding a date, it's not about Archie.
