Harry and Meghan still not replied to Coronation Invitation

Harry and Meghan still haven't replied to the invitation to the coronation even though the RSPV deadline has passed. If it's true I think it's a bit rude. They know the preparation that goes into these events. It must be a headache for the planners not to know if they are coming or not.

Apparently Arche and Lilibet aren't invited to the actual ceremony as they are deemed to be too young. My bet is they will all come to the UK for the coronation but who knows. Not heard if Andrew is coming or not. And Fergie. Will she be there. Maybe behind a pillar.

Remember Fergie’s post divorce book?

TrashyPanda · 06/04/2023 22:39

@Viviennemary but does anyone look at these photos and go, “”Oh, where are David and Wallis?”

I don’t think so

MrsFinkelstein · 06/04/2023 22:39

"Can't she have Joe Biden's seat?!"

Jill Biden is going to represent her husband. Maybe she'll be sitting next to Tom Cruise?

xPaz · 06/04/2023 22:44

Is Tom Cruise invited 🤔
I want to be able to handle rejection like Fergie.

Coxspurplepippin · 06/04/2023 23:43

'And however gleeful people may be if they don't come, if you look at in the long view of history it is a very bad look for Charles that he was not able to have his son at his coronation with his mixed race wife'

The fact that Harry's wife is mixed race has sweet FA to do with them being or not being at the coronation. It's got everything to do with Harry and Meghan making their minds up whether they want to go or otherwise, trying to decide if the photo ops are worth the tabloid headlines, trying to weigh up whether a refusal after they've been invited will make them look bad or whether they can spin it to their own advantage. Their own actions have made it difficult for them to attend/stay away.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 06/04/2023 23:44

The question is why are you particularly interested in whether H&M are coming or not. It makes no difference to what you will see on the day. Are you interested in anyone else on the invite list - Just M&H I assume?

Somebody upthread said "how do you know = shutting down the debate. What debate the OP is a paragraph of accusations and assumptions?? A goady post by someone who likes the rf and could talk about anyone one of them and whether they are going and what they are going to wear and have they rsvp'd etc, but as usual is specifically interested in a couple they apparently have no time for just to start another battle thread.

Why should they tell the media if they are coming or not? - I really don't get it. Why you feel entitled to know? If H&M told the media they were coming - you would start another thread - as above - what will she wear? Will they announce another pregnancy - even if they do - you can choose to ignore and focus on your Kings coronation - how hard can it be if you are that much of a fan.

I mean 50 years since the last coronation and MN would still rather repeat talk about M&H than discuss any other royal.

How do you know they haven't made up their mind yet?

Viviennemary · 06/04/2023 23:53

Why am I interested. Harry caused a few family rows. The Oprah interview, the book the accusations,. I would say they were a lot more goady than anything I have written in my post. Harry wanted us all to know about his grievances though he says he wants privacy. If you don't want to be talked about stop writing books and appearing on chat shows.

No idea - I was responding to the claim it would look bad for Charles if he was 'not able', whatever that means, to have his son at his coronation with his mixed race wife. Or, you know, his wife. Suggesting Meghan being mixed race has anything to do with them being at the coronation or otherwise is having at the pot with a whacking great wooden spoon. Harry and Meghan have spent the last 18 months slagging off family and institution. I should imagine they've had to put a great deal of thought into the will we, won't we, to ensure they're not seen to be supporting the family and institution while still getting mileage.

I don't under why all this means you need to know whether he is coming or not. What difference will it make - You are assuming his father doesn't know because you don't know I guess.

. If they said tomorrow they are not coming - what would it mean to you and anyone else who is on the edge of their seat and vice versa if they said tomorrow they were not coming?

Would t it just mean you find something else about them as you mentioned Oprah/ The book/ interview / Netflix/ Spotify/ Amazon/ donors/ Or perhaps another thread about the reason the tabloids say they are or are not coming..

I'm assuming KC and QC will be there along with K&W and co. That's the main line up. The room will be filled wi h or without M&H.

SquashPenguin · 06/04/2023 11:43

How on earth could you possibly know whether Harry has responded? Got a mate working on the post desk of Bucks Palace?

🤣🤣🤣

caringcarer · 06/04/2023 19:28

The press reported the Sussex duo made a lot of demands including being on the balcony and having Archie's birthday somehow acknowledged. Palace officials said the balcony is for working royals only. Princess Beatrice or Eugenie or Zara won't be on the balcony either.

Who's so thick they believe what they read in the press??! Blush

EllandRd · 07/04/2023 03:56

Could not give a shiny shit either way 🤷🏻‍♀️

MamoruHisaishi · 07/04/2023 04:16

Who cares if they attend or not. They’re not relevant to the monarchy. It’s not a big deal….

magicthree · 07/04/2023 04:24

Who actually cares????

googlejourney · 07/04/2023 07:10

How strange that people are questioning why it's of interest whether they attend or not? It is of interest after everything he's done to his family, if they'd have the balls to attend and their motivation behind accepting the invite, if they do.

I think the speculation around them attending is detracting from the coronation build up. If they really have missed the rsvp date as is reported that's probably their tactic - to wield what little power they have left over the RF and cause maximum discomfort.

It also amuses me when posters click on threads, read them and then take the time to reply 'who cares?' Etc. I don't understand why people don't just scroll past and ignore (or even hide a the read if it bothers you so much)

xPaz · 07/04/2023 07:15

Yeh, I don't click on the threads about keeping chickens.

Ishouldbeoutside · 07/04/2023 07:16

weddingdaydancet · 06/04/2023 11:36

It’s Archie’s birthday though, so I’m not sure.

I think it’s likely a real dilemma for them, they will want to go and be part of it, but they won’t want to be publicly booed and mocked for their obvious hypocrisy. They will also want to be a key part, on the balcony, Archie recognised etc. they won’t want to be relegated to the sidelines.

with no other career path to speak of after 3 years away , they have simply made a career out of leveraging their royal connections. If they are seen to lose those, they don’t have much left to sell.

I suspect they know if they are going or not, they are just not saying to make it as difficult as possible for the royal family and their staff. Just another petty act of vengeance.

They wouldn’t be on the balcony anyway. They aren’t working Royals.

You deliberately cut off the part of my sentence about the probe into slavery and the Royal Family that was launched this week, with the approval of Charles, but I expect nothing less from you.

Roussette · 07/04/2023 07:42

If they really have missed the rsvp date as is reported that's probably their tactic - to wield what little power they have left over the RF and cause maximum discomfort.

As they are quiet, does it not occur to you that possibly, quite possibly, they are in communication with the Palace, or with Charles, or with courtiers or with anyone. And have replied. Or discussed it, about what is best to do, and this could just be made up headlines because they aren't talking or responding to the british press. Clickbait to wind people like you up.

So... those that believe this, then have to start a thread to oooh and ahhh, and aren't they awful they have missed a RSVP deadline. When in fact it's probably all a load of bollocks. We just don't know! All that's happened is... they haven't given a statement as to whether they're coming, they've probably replied anyway! And if they put out a statement that would be wrong too. How dare they, we are not interested, I knew they would come, they wouldn't miss it. etc etc

If they are not telling the press whether they are coming or not, I don't bloody blame them! Look at the speculation when they aren't saying! As a PP said, it would all be ooooh they aren't coming! They daren't show their faces! Or
They are coming! I bet they want to be on the balcony, will they bring the children, will she grin, what will she wear, ooooh bet she wants to wear a coronet, where will they sit blah blah blah...
If I were them, I would do exactly the same. Good on them.

I don't know why everyone is so vexed about this and going on and on about spinning it to their advantage, the balcony, netflix etc. It's not about them, anyone would think it's H&M getting crowned!

Nothing to do with cutting anything off - I was commenting on one particular part of your post.

Is it a rule now that we have to comment on a whole post?

I think the survey is necessary. Is that OK?

I still don't think Meghan being mixed race and attending/not attending the coronation is a 'bad look' for Charles. Stop trying to make it into something it's not. Harry and Meghan have a choice. If Meghan thinks the RF is rascist but made the choice to marry a member of the family incidentally the one who has the track record of rascist comments then maybe she doesn't want anything to do with them, so obviously she won't want to attend. Her husband doesn't think they are, just in need of some education Hmm, so maybe he will attend. Up to them.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/04/2023 08:00

Oh, and the dig insinuating I am rascist has been noted.

Rhondaa · 07/04/2023 08:02

'but does anyone look at these photos and go, “”Oh, where are David and Wallis?” I don’t think so'

Exactly. Everyone knows the backstory with Harry and even if Coronation pics are looked at in decades to come his no show will be totally irrelevant.

'If they are not telling the press whether they are coming or not, I don't bloody blame them!'

Folk do keep saying this missing the bit where he excitedly 'told the press' he'd been invited, so keen to tell the press that just in case anyone thought he may be snubbed. I doubt he'll be secretly in touch with anyone of any importance probably has an email address of some junior administrative courtier and that is why he is keeping them hanging. He'll be waiting for someone senior, someone royal to call him..

But you agree Janiie we don't know do we? So all this speculation is a total waste of time.

You have your take on it. I have mine. That's it really!
Happy Easter!

(p.s. just to let you know, I have a bunny suit just like this. Seriously, not joking... long story!)
