It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

I think she'll be gone by February. She looked very unwell meeting thatchers clone and that bruise on her hand. Sad
I'm not tearful as she's near 100 - I'm more concerned about wasting tax payers money having Charles become king.

MrsKeats · 08/09/2022 12:43

I hope not :(( doesn't look good though.

expandabandband · 08/09/2022 12:44

And much note passing and briefing in the House of Commons.

Fuuuuuckit · 08/09/2022 12:44

She's 96. Not entirely unexpected.

Mannymoomin · 08/09/2022 12:45

I agree.
the Queen is very private when it comes to her health, the fact the Buckingham palaces have made an announcement doesn’t look good.
I hope not, she is a remarkable human being, but I think they know 😔

derxa · 08/09/2022 12:45

In tears here. Sorry

happyinherts · 08/09/2022 12:45

She's 96 years of age, and with the best will in the world, is coming towards the end of life. Whether that be in one month's time, one year's time, or three years' time, we don't know. However, common sense tells us that she cannot carry out her duties in the same way as she did during her 30's 40's, 50's, etc. I don't think we're being 'prepared.' Charles is - he's carrying out more engagements now, and William is learning the ropes because in due course he'll have to.

snowballer · 08/09/2022 12:45

I think she'll be gone by February.

Without being too ghoulish about it - I think it's more imminent than that. The announcement just now seemed more like a pre-warning to soften the blow in the next few days to me. Maybe/hopefully I'm wrong.

Yes, agreed.

Georgeskitchen · 08/09/2022 12:47

They have announced she is unwell. Its should be left at that for now, to give her some privacy x

LadyCatStark · 08/09/2022 12:47

February? No chance sorry.

TeeBee · 08/09/2022 12:47

My ex is working on a webpage regarding her (future) passing (sad but true). Seems like there are preparations behind the scenes. But she's 96 and she's a well-loved monarch. These things do need to be planned in advance.

PurpleWisteria · 08/09/2022 12:47

I think it's very close.

Good luck to Charles, she's a hard act to follow.

nachoavocado · 08/09/2022 12:48

Yes.

I wish her a peaceful journey

Nadal · 08/09/2022 12:49

They wouldn't make a statement like this unless it was near surely.

I feel very sad.

Nothing new there - plans around announcing her death have been in place for 50+ years.

I also think it will be very soon.

expandabandband · 08/09/2022 12:51

Charles and Camilla up to Balmoral

There's literally already plans - the military practice her funeral all the time. London Bridge is the operation name. Her biographies, the text for the news announcements etc - it's all prepared for her and all the main players in the Royal family from childhood and updated all the time.

They all just open a folder and crack on when the time comes. Protocol is a huge piece of work for the BBC, main media etc let alone the military and civil service.

But sadly yes, she's 96 and has visibly diminished since she lost her husband.

At this stage, she's an elderly lady who has had to cope with her grief during Covid like so many others and has cracked on with a public face as much as she can. I can't imagine how hard that is even if you do have staff - it doesn't remove the grief.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2022 12:52

Charles and Camilla have gone to Balmoral. KP say William is on his way (BBC)
Her slow decline is gatheringpace, as is the way of these things.
I hope she is able to pass away peacefully in her beloved Balmoral.

TeeBee · 08/09/2022 12:52

Think announcement type page.

Helgadaley · 08/09/2022 12:52

Sad news. Feeling very tearful.

Lindy2 · 08/09/2022 12:53

I think we are being prepared for sad news too. I feel a little tearful.

MarshaBradyo · 08/09/2022 12:53

It is a big moment - people travelling up
