It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

Sounds imminent sadly, the Palace usually downplay everything re the Queen’s health, so the wording of the statement and that her family are mobilised immediately to go to her, worrying news.

Having to shake hands with all those Tories would take it out of anyone. She's had enough.

Neither the time no the place.

Dinoboymama · 08/09/2022 14:02

If she passed away in Scotland her funeral will be there and operation unicorn will be put into action to.

Smudges16 · 08/09/2022 14:03

Does anyone know the details of Operation Unicorn?

Nat6999 · 08/09/2022 14:03

I posted on Tuesday after seeing the pictures of her with the new PM that I wouldn't be surprised if we woke up one morning to the news that she had passed away, she looked very frail & almost as if she was shrinking.

Belindabelle · 08/09/2022 14:04

I am surprised that I feel rather moved by this.

I bet she is chuffed that she is at Balmoral in September. There are few finer places. She has spent just about every summer there and I think it’s lovely that she has been able to stick to her usual routine one last time as it were.

Does anyone know the details of Operation Unicorn?

She would be moved to Edinburgh to lay in rest and it's where her funeral would be and after a funeral moved to London preferably via train but if not by plane where the prime minister would be.

Hulahoops78 · 08/09/2022 14:05

Sadly, yes I think we are. She looked so frail and tiny meeting Liz Truss. I don't think a statement would have been released unless it wasn't serious :(

Just make your own up ads it's absolute shite!

Witchell hinting at cancer there...

TopBitchoftheWitches · 08/09/2022 14:05

Sky news just said Duke and duchess of Sussex are on their way.

CaptainBarbosa · 08/09/2022 14:05

Catherine has remained at Windsor with the children, a wise move I think, they will want their mum if their nan passes away. Not a job for the paid nanny to do is it, to announce their grandmother's death and answer questions/support the children through grief.

IncessantNameChanger · 08/09/2022 14:06

I'm also surprised that I feel quite tearful too. She has had a amazing life and she is old. I was shocked to see how frail she looked meeting Truss.

TheSpottedZebra · 08/09/2022 14:06

OK my apologies it seems I wrong about Operation Unicorn being made up!

Eh?

TokyoSushi · 08/09/2022 14:06

Eeek, just been downstairs to have a peek at BBC news (WFH) It looks very serious. I wonder if Huw Edwards has been brought in as he will have to do the announcement as the head presenter of BBC news. They look like they all feel a bit sick.

These things are always very strange, I expected it, but I didn't expect it, today.

CaramelTwirl · 08/09/2022 14:07

It's like the news channels are just waiting for the big announcement. I suspect they know more than we do.

Oh, no worries! I hadn't heard of it before.

Very sad to hear about our Queen 😥

Hopefullysoon2022 · 08/09/2022 14:08

Has the Queen met Lilibeth.
I tell you something I wouldn't want to be in Harry or Meghan's shoes.
Imagine the atmosphere.

Yes Huw in his black suit and tie is a major tell, he's been briefed the announcement is possibly imminent. 🙁

Notthecarwashagain · 08/09/2022 14:09

I’m more emotional than I expected to be.
Not a Royalist, but my grandma is in her 90s and small and frail too, so I think it just makes it very real. It’s sometimes easy to forget that people in the public eye are actual real life people, who are so loved and special to their relatives

I hope all of her relatives get to be with her, and that she is comfortable.

She is their great grandmother. They will be sad, but fine.

I do hope Harry gets to see her before she goes if that indeed is what is happening as he was said to be her favourite and he is in the country.

SHe has 8 grandchildren, why just him?

VioletInsolence · 08/09/2022 14:09

Why do we need to be prepared for the death of someone we don’t know?

I think they are lucky it's under these circumstances, people will focus on the immediate issue rather than their presence.

LadyDanburysHat · 08/09/2022 14:10

All the close family travelling is really not great. I think she has been monarch for so many peoples full lives that we all kind of feel like she will just go on forever. Her mother did have a long life.
