We're being prepared aren't we? Message about the Queen being under medical supervision

It feels like we're being slowly prepared for her passing away. I feel unexpectedly tearful.

OP posts:
Sigma33 · 08/09/2022 13:09

One of my earliest memories was her Silver Jubilee.

She was born the same year as my father, and he died 2 years ago at a 'good age'. He was ready to go, absolutely 'with it' mentally but it was as if someone flicked a switch one day and he declined over a couple of weeks. Slept more and more, and drifted away.

I hope it is as peaceful for the Queen, whenever her time comes. But yes, I suspect that we are being prepared.

I am by no means a monarchist, but do feel sad. It's the end of an era.

I don’t think we should all panic yet, nothing has been announced to say she’s not going to get through this

Yup I’m burying my head in the sand and pretending it’s not happening! It will be a sad day

I've just put sky news on. This looks like it's coming.

snowballer · 08/09/2022 13:10

The level of coverage being given to this on the news suggests it's only days, or possibly even hours now. How extremely sad. Doesn't matter what you think of the monarchy in general, she is a remarkable woman.

CourtneeLuv · 08/09/2022 13:12

This is really unsettling. I'm getting tearful too. As a pp, I'm.not ready for this.

CaptainBarbosa · 08/09/2022 13:12

I think preparations are happening. Black suits will be getting prepped for media and so on.

She's 96 and has lead a remarkable life and reign.

I didn't expect her to last long after Prince Phillip. My great grandparents were the same and similar ages and passed within 18months of eachother

MissyB1 · 08/09/2022 13:13

@Sigma33 the Queen was born the same day as my mum, she also died 2 years ago. Not a bad innings! It was still very hard to lose her though. Some days I still find it a shock that she’s not here.

Sigma33 · 08/09/2022 13:13

The reaction in Parliament suggests that it is serious - the debate possibly suspended, Truss and Starmer left the Chamber after being passed a note.

CrotchetyQuaver · 08/09/2022 13:14

I would guess it's imminent from all this activity. Truly the end of an era ☹️

ClaudineClare · 08/09/2022 13:14

She was hanging to make certain Johnson was gone I expect. She looked very frail in that photo. I hope she has a peaceful death.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 08/09/2022 13:17

God bless our Queen so sad, but definitely seems like they are preparing us. The Queen has done a fabulous job. Charles definitely won’t be as graceful.

Fizbosshoes · 08/09/2022 13:17

So there have been news announcements from the Palace, House of Commons, Clarence House and KP. However bbc radio is on at work, and they're literally asking everyone's opinion and constant speculation all the while remaining careful not to say we think she is close to dying. It feels sort of ghoulish.
The public can infer from the announcements what the implications are, and the seriousness of it we don't need vulture-ish speculation from anyone who's ever reported on the RF
It's sad and I feel sad for her family but it feels intrusive for the constant media coverage

Gooseysgirl · 08/09/2022 13:19

She hasn't looked well since last autumn, I suspect there's a bit more going on than just 'mobility issues'. There's no way William would be heading to Balmoral unless things were pretty serious. I would imagine other members of the RF are on their way if they are not in the area already.

Stangerthings · 08/09/2022 13:22

I am also feeling very tearful. Goodness knows why, I never met her but somehow its another sad end to an era.

florentina1 · 08/09/2022 13:23

If Harry goes to Balmoral, then I think it is a certainty that she has not got long.

SammyScrounge · 08/09/2022 13:25

snowballer · 08/09/2022 12:45

I think she'll be gone by February.

Without being too ghoulish about it - I think it's more imminent than that. The announcement just now seemed more like a pre-warning to soften the blow in the next few days to me. Maybe/hopefully I'm wrong.

I think the end is imminent. Her family is gathering.
I can feel the tears in my eyes. I was born the year she became queen so she was my queen. She's always been there.

Hopefullysoon2022 · 08/09/2022 13:25

I'm Irish and the picture of her yesterday really threw me.
She looked so frail and so old.

I do hope when the time comes it's peaceful and quick.

I didn't even think about Harry being back in the country. I wonder if the visit was arranged knowing how unwell the Queen is.
I'm actually quite tearful myself.

35965a · 08/09/2022 13:25

I think many people are fond of the Queen, even if they aren’t Royal fans. She has just always been there for all of our lives. With all the senior royals going to her today it seems there is a lot more going on than we realise.

Yes quick and easy.bGood thought. No by

SafeMove · 08/09/2022 13:28

I feel really sad she won't be able to send herself a birthday card at 100. I liked the thought of that - marking your life as separate from your position.

mamabananaz · 08/09/2022 13:29

I am no royalist, but I have huge respect for this old lady who has served her country all these years, without ever putting a foot wrong. Bless her.

Watzzap · 08/09/2022 13:31

I think Charles will leave Balmoral as King.

antelopevalley · 08/09/2022 13:31

I am sure she will have a gentle passing. She has Drs there who will give her whatever drugs are needed to deal with any symptoms, to make her passing gentle.

treeplant · 08/09/2022 13:31

I don't think her age will make it any less sad.

She's a remarkable woman and I felt really gutted when I saw the news.

Brendabigbaps · 08/09/2022 13:32

GoneWithTheWine1 · 08/09/2022 12:43

I think she'll be gone by February. She looked very unwell meeting thatchers clone and that bruise on her hand. Sad
I'm not tearful as she's near 100 - I'm more concerned about wasting tax payers money having Charles become king.

February? That’s a bit random.
the immediate family are all going to see her, end of the month more like
