Went out last night for 2 hours, before I went I fed the kittens and shut them in the living room.

I came home and looked for them, they're nowhere.

The living room door was still shut, but they were nowhere to be seen!

In my living room is a corner sofa. One chair, a TV and 2 Toy boxes and a fireplace. They aren't in any of them!!!

They are 4 orphaned/ dumped 6 week old kittens! How on earth have they vanished???? Where are they???

I've sat in there in the quiet and listened. No scratching. Now I've put food down and shut the door again hoping they'll eat then I'll know they're alive Sad but where on earth could they be!

One of my childhood cats used to use the underside of the sofa as a hammock - have you checked there - they can get into some very surprising places

Remembermyname · 27/09/2014 08:43

I remember the panic when mine went missing - they were crouched at the back of a dark cupboard. They are in tiger somewhere - possible somewhere in the sofa - can you flip it? Try some tuna fish - that got ours down from a tree when they were stuck!

beccajoh · 27/09/2014 08:43

Could they have got up into your sofa from underneath? Any small holes in flooring or walls?

NewEraNewMindset · 27/09/2014 08:43

Under the floorboards? A gap under the living room door?

Remembermyname · 27/09/2014 08:43

In there, not tiger!

scurryfunge · 27/09/2014 08:43

Have you looked up the chimney?

beccajoh · 27/09/2014 08:44

They're probably a all asleep in a little heap somewhere.

NewEraNewMindset · 27/09/2014 08:44

In the sofa is a really good idea as to where they could be!

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 08:49

The fireplace is one of those gas fires with a tiny hole not a massive chimney thing, it also doesn't work and I can't see up it.

They aren't in the sofa. I've checked all there.

I've left the food so going back in a bit to see if any is eaten.

I'm so worried

No cupboards in there.

Pulled all cushions off the sofa and lifted it and prodded about (there's a very thin material thing covering the bottom so I'd see and feel a kitten shaped lump)

Going back to check

Oh, I am rooting for you/them!

Good luck.

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 08:53

No food all still there.

They'll be starving

Fuck fuck fuck.

Ones supposed to be going tomorrow to it's new home (very scared here and scared of the other kittens and me and DS so was hoping 1:1 time somewhere quiet would do it good)

And now it's gone! They've all disappeared!!!! I hate myself!

Who else is in your house? Migjht they know anything?

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 08:59

Just me. DS is at his dads. The 4 cats I have were shut out of the living room

My 2 did this when they were kittens. I was bricking myself as the front door had been opened very briefly and although I'd been standing in it the whole time I began to doubt myself that they couldn't have got out. They had completely vanished.

Check all the places you have already checked again. I checked and checked our sofa, I know I did. DH came home and checked the sofa and the little buggers were indeed in there.

You will find them. 4 kittens don't just vanish. They are so tiny, you'd be surprised where they can fit. And a kitten in a deep sleep will be quiet as a mouse.

Best wishes. I know you must feel frantic.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 09:02

Have you emptied the toy boxes?

I used to have a gas fire with a medium size hole going into the chimney and my cat got up it once and disappeared from view....that was a big, fat cat not a little kitten. If the chimney hole is the only escape route they must be up there.

Petallic · 27/09/2014 09:02

Places I've found my kittens:

Up the chimney - had to pull out gas fire and they were sitting on a ledge in the chimney

Under the floorboards - regularly had to fish them out almost every
Morning by enticing them with ribbon (was a hole behind bathroom sink)

I miss having kittens!

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 09:03

Can you put some tuna down? Smells nicer than cat food and might entice them back.

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 09:03

What if they have got out somehow? Ran out of the living room before I shut the door and got out of the little hole in the kitchen wall?

My heart can't cope.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 09:04

Surely you'd have noticed them running past you as you shut the door?

You did check they were in there before you shut it?

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 09:05

Going putting tuna down now. I can't pull the fireplace off myself and I don't have anyone.

I'll check again in an hour but ive been up all night checking
