Went out last night for 2 hours, before I went I fed the kittens and shut them in the living room.

I came home and looked for them, they're nowhere.

The living room door was still shut, but they were nowhere to be seen!

In my living room is a corner sofa. One chair, a TV and 2 Toy boxes and a fireplace. They aren't in any of them!!!

They are 4 orphaned/ dumped 6 week old kittens! How on earth have they vanished???? Where are they???

I've sat in there in the quiet and listened. No scratching. Now I've put food down and shut the door again hoping they'll eat then I'll know they're alive Sad but where on earth could they be!

Oh dear :( It's so worrying. Our two boys did this when they were tiny, and like soddinghormones' cat, they had somehow got inside the underside of the sofa. I was looking for them for hours and nearly having kittens myself.

They also used to hide behind the washing machine and various other secluded places. They really can get into the tiniest of spaces, so I'm sure yours are snuggled up somewhere together having a long sleep. Hope they turn up very soon.

Is there any way someone could have had access to house when you were gone for 2 hours? Far fetched I know but very odd how all 4 have gone missing.

nippysweetie82 · 27/09/2014 11:21

If you think they might have got outside I would ask all your neighbours to look out for them. If you have facebook put a notice up on your local missing pet page and any other local pages so that people know to look for them.
Hopefully they're still in the house hiding.

Castlemilk · 27/09/2014 11:23

If you have a chimney then it sounds as if that might be the only remaining option. They could get up and be on a ledge inside it?- some chimneys will have a 'bend' a little way up. You may not hear them up there. Light and a mirror on a stick?

Hakluyt · 27/09/2014 11:24

If the other cats had eaten them there would be evidence somewhere.

Have you put food outside the door in case they got outside somehow?

heronsfly · 27/09/2014 11:25

We lost our 2 when they were very small, eventually found them hours later, upstairs under a quilt, they had laid themselves so flat we couldn't see a bump, I do hope they turn up soon .

Hakluyt · 27/09/2014 11:25

You don't know anyone who might have taken them to play a trick on you? Some people have very odd ideas of what constitutes "funny".

DayLillie · 27/09/2014 11:29

We used to have a cat that would sit on the ledge inside the chimney.

Can you keep a lamp on near the fireplace to light up the hole in case they need to find their way out?

Also had a very young 6w kitten curled up next to the pump in a recess at the back of the fridge - my mother thought she had accidently put it in the new automatic washing machine, and couldn't work out how to stop it.........

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2014 11:29

I hope they turn up soon. I really feel for you.

Branleuse · 27/09/2014 11:34

They WILL be somewhere. Kittens are great at disappearing, then turning up as if nothings happened

Hakluyt · 27/09/2014 11:38

I can't keep away from this thread.....Sad

AnimalsAreMyFriends · 27/09/2014 11:38

You poor thing. Our 2 kittens disappeared for hours - they had got up behind a wardrobe, there was a gap less than an inch that they'd squeezed through.

Hope they turn up very soon.

usualsuspect333 · 27/09/2014 11:43

I think you have to get the fire off and look up the chimney

AlmaMartyr · 27/09/2014 11:45

Hope you find them OP :( My cat disappeared inside sofa when she was a kitten. She was right deep inside it and we had to cut the sofa open to get her out. I never did figure out how she'd got in there, there was no opening at all. Good luck!

smokeandglitter · 27/09/2014 11:46

Oh gosh, I really hope they turn up. We're all thinking of you here. Don't be upset with yourself, you've been amazing. ((Hugs))

Was it you op who found it hard to get hold of charities in your area? If you can I would try as they might be able to help out finding them etc. also sudden thought, have you checked where babies were found? Thinking a friends kittens went back to ndn she here they were first discovered - could be worth a check?

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2014 11:52

I am sat here willing them to appear. Sad

firstposts · 27/09/2014 11:55

I think you need the heat seeking equipment .. Non emergency fire service number? You need specialist support. Call RSPCA back and escalate it until you get someone willing to help.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 11:57

I'd be getting a chimney sweep out for advice.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 11:58

Can you get a ladder and check the roof? Incase they have gone all the way up the chimney?

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2014 12:02

I am not sure all 4 kittens would decide to scale a chimney would they? Maybe one-but all 4?

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 12:03

Still nothing. Been through DSs room now with a fine tooth comb. Even emptied all his wardrobe and drawers. Now onto my room. Emptying wardrobes etc.

I'm starting to get really worried.

It was me who hasn't been able to get hold of any charities Sad

Get you neighbours to check their gardens.Or maybe someone has found them and has taken them in?

smokeandglitter · 27/09/2014 12:11

I think fire services (non emergency) as well then.

Such a nightmare, think hopefully fire service will help and if not then they will hopefully get hold of the relevant charities for you when you explain they've been uncontactable.

Hakluyt · 27/09/2014 12:13

Have you searched outside? If they are lost somewhere inside they are at least safe- I would focus on outside however unlikely it seems.......
