Went out last night for 2 hours, before I went I fed the kittens and shut them in the living room.

I came home and looked for them, they're nowhere.

The living room door was still shut, but they were nowhere to be seen!

In my living room is a corner sofa. One chair, a TV and 2 Toy boxes and a fireplace. They aren't in any of them!!!

They are 4 orphaned/ dumped 6 week old kittens! How on earth have they vanished???? Where are they???

I've sat in there in the quiet and listened. No scratching. Now I've put food down and shut the door again hoping they'll eat then I'll know they're alive Sad but where on earth could they be!

Hope they turn up soon little monkeys.

Titsalinabumsquash · 27/09/2014 12:46

I have been lurking, I came back in hope they'd turned up.

How bizarre and worrying at the same time.

Mine always used to vanish but you've checked all the placed they went.

I really hope they are found safe and well soon. Thanks

Vitalstatistix · 27/09/2014 12:49

Are your other cats sniffing anywhere?

Let them into the living room and see if they seem interested in anywhere in particular.

and round the rest of the house too.

I agree that if you can't hear a thing, they aren't in the room. You would hear the little mew.

How are they, health wise? Lively and healthy? were they mewing and scrabbling?

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 12:55

They were mewing and climbing but they were still very nervous so wouldn't come to you. But they would come near me to eat and let me stroke them while eating.

All four together just seems odd - I keep picturing the adventurous one going 'come on, it'll be fine...'

Our first cat disappeared up the chimney - open fireplace. She was black, so we could only see a pair of eyes up there. We ended up leaving food down and in the morning came downstairs to a trail of sooty footprints and a cat under the sofa.

I'm pretty confident they will turn up later and they are as others have said, all curled up asleep in a heap in a tiny space. It's also happened to me and it is horrible Flowers

Quitelikely · 27/09/2014 13:19

I agree with letting the other cats in the room to see where their noses take them! That might give you a clue if for example they're up the chimney

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 13:21

I haven't a clue Sad I've had a look at the fireplace but the only way to get it off would be to rip it out, it's all cemented in. I can see the roof from the end of my garden and they aren't on there. I've been in the garden and checked the sheds. Next door aren't in but their dogs are out in their run so if there was any cat activity there they would be going berserk. They don't like cats those dogs.

If someone found the kittens word would get round and they would be brought back. Half the estate were out catching them apparently when they were first found and everyone knows everyone's business here. It's all just too strange! If they were in my room I would have heard them in the night.

The house has been silent all day and I haven't heard any little meows. I've been home and awake since 3am so surely they wouldn't have slept that long?

I feel for you op and am watching the thread willing it to turn ok in the end.

RandallFloyd · 27/09/2014 13:26

Obvious question, but you don't have any widows open did you?
One of mine escaped through an inch wide gap in a tiny upstairs bathroom window. There's no ledge or wall underneath, he just scaled two stories like some sort of spider-cat.
He came back two days later looking very sheepish and trying to hide a slight limp!

MadeinSouthWest · 27/09/2014 13:33

Oh no!

Does anyone have a key to your place and for some bizarre reason came in and took them?

QueenFuri · 27/09/2014 13:43

Oh no I thought you would have found them by now. They will turn up 4 kittens cannot just vanish from a closed room. It impossible unless someone has taken them!

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 13:47

No windows open at all last night. I don't leave anything open or unlocked when I leave the house, I'm very anxious like that.

Someone taking them is the only thing I can think of. But everything was locked and if someone wanted to rob us surely they would take more than just the kittens?

The only people who have keys are me and my fella, and he was at work. Also, if someone wanted one they would have only had to ask, I was searching for a home for the little boy.

I'm heart broken. DP said he's going to come round and take the fireplace apart tomorrow morning, but there's no meowing or anything up there.

I rang the RSPCA who said that they can't do anything more than I've already done which is look, especially since there is absolutely no clue as to where they could be. but I've sent them photos and reported them missing.

The most confusing thing is that one little kitten never left the cat bed. She just didn't. She was too scared. She hid under the cushion of the bed when the others were in it and I literally had to drag her out and bottle feed her and hand feed her food while she was scared for her life to keep her alive.

She wouldn't have followed the others somewhere. She just wouldn't have. I really don't get it.

ShockSad I'm so sorry this has happened. They have to be somewhere, surely. If you suspect someone came in and took them wouldn't it be ok to ring the police?

wantacatplease · 27/09/2014 13:50

It sounds like they were taken, then.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 27/09/2014 13:51

I too think they're in the fireplace. I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and take it apart.

Really hope this has a happy ending.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 13:51

It really is odd. I keep refreshing this thread Hoping for good news.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 13:52

But if nobody else has a key and there's no forced entry then how can someone have stolen them?

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 13:52

Wouldn't they make a noise if they were in the fireplace? If someone took them then how did they get in? Everything was still locked up when I got home, and why would you take 4 kittens and nothing else?

OP posts:
wantacatplease · 27/09/2014 13:53

I don't know. So very odd.

LIZS · 27/09/2014 13:54

:(

wantacatplease · 27/09/2014 13:55

Is the scared one definitely not there? Hiding under the blanket in a flat little lump?
