Am I the only person to feel totally gutted / disappointed / sad … at Amandaland Christmas special ? … I LOVE all the motherland and ALand episodes and this was just awful. Or is that just me?

I havent watched but I dont have much hope

It was...bad.

It was very contrived but fun enough. Would have rather seen them in their usual habitat without Jennifer Saunders. Mal and Amanda didn't seem to have the chemistry they had before.

… the sleeves on Amanda’s outfit were funny. As was the “you can’t always get what you want” comment. . . Otherwise I feel my chrimbo is ruined … (lighthearted). Obvs.

I just so much prefer ‘Motherland’. It was hilarious! I found Julia so funny in that, and really miss her in the ‘Amandaland’ spin offs generally. I also miss Liz and Kevin.

It was shite. I know nothing about mick jagger so didn’t get any references. I thought it was really boring and was so looking forward to it. I don’t think anything can beat the first motherland Christmas special

No way! I loved it and really I laughed out loud at several bits, Jennifer Saunders' character was gold. So many good lines and lots of visual gags.

I absolutely loved it! Laughed out loud. Not a disappointment for me and my family.

We don’t watch a lot of TV together, but really tried today in amongst guests - Kings College choir, Wallace & Gromit - great. But the main add-free terrestrial TV once we relaxed was so disappointing. Everyone just ended up retiring to different devices. I guess that’s just it now for Christmas TV. Oh well.

I loved it, very funny. I wish I had a mad rich aunt in the Cotswolds to go and stay with.

It's been a while since a TV comedy made me laugh out loud but this did it. Jennifer Saunders is comedy gold.

I liked it. But it was different to the usual Amandaland episodes and didn’t deliver the consistent storyline stuff you might like there - Anne over parenting Darius, the love between Mal and his son Ned’s step dad, the animosity between Anne and the Shin chef. None of that is in there. But the silly slapstick and visual and physical comedy done well by Lucy Punch and Philippa Dunnre definitely is.

Like a PP, I would have preferred a Christmas episode with the regular characters and their dynamics, but it was great fun to have Jennifer Saunders and a huge country house. The dog and the aunt putting a crisp in the bowl! 🤮
