Am I the only person to feel totally gutted / disappointed / sad … at Amandaland Christmas special ? … I LOVE all the motherland and ALand episodes and this was just awful. Or is that just me?

I might have missed something but I don't get why it made sense to say 'no she wasn't pregnant by Mick Jagger in the summer before you were born - she secret is, she was fat!' Because surely if it was before Amanda was born, she was pregnant, not fat? So that explains nothing at all?

It made me laugh.
As a child I was a huge French and Saunders fan and Saunders really reignited lots of mannerisms of her characters from the 80s, I found it quite a nostalgic watch and loved the scene when they were showing Amanda’s similarity to jagger.
it was silly and way too short but it was a fun bit of fluff.

I saw this thread title before I watched the show and I was half expecting Amanda's mum to be found hanging in the barn at the end, or something equally horrible! 'Gutted' is a bit strong really. As a Christmas special I think it's very much on a par with the show itself - perfectly serviceable although not a classic of the genre. It's no 'Christmassy Ted' or 'The Christmas Lunch Incident', but it was still enjoyable.

I liked it more on my second watch. Seeing Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley together was fun - the scene between them in the barn was nice. I liked Jennifer's character a lot. The Mick Jagger stuff was funny. The dog was cute. I still have a big crush on Mal and need him and Amanda to get together next series.

Mal is gorgeous and he seems like such a decent guy too (in the show obvs).
I love the first Amandaland series, I hope they do expand on the story

Because the photo would have been just before she conceived - Amanda’s dad liked it (there was a comment from her mum) and she was conceived shortly after. So the the timings match, but she wasn’t actually pregnant in the photo.

I liked it even more on the second viewing. It was really funny. The house was beautiful, inside and out. If I was Amanda I would sell the flat in Ha Ha Harlesden and move near to Aunt Joan to buy a bigger house.
