Have you watched the Dr Phil episodes interviewing her brother? If not then you'll probably fine them an interesting watch. Should be available on YouTube.

Rinoachicken · 25/11/2024 18:25

I’m just on episode 2

Rinoachicken · 25/11/2024 18:26

The woman on the Horaldo show going on about the saxophone was bonkers!

desidi · 25/11/2024 18:38

as with most cases like this, the most obvious explanation is usually the most accurate.
I'm going to watch later.
I've seen documentaries before about JBR and police didn't do enough to solve this at the time. Incompetence.

Itsonlybridgetagain · 25/11/2024 18:46

The police were totally incompetent and that Steve guy wrote a “bestselling” book based on an unfounded theory that JBR wet the bed which is why she was beaten and strangled 🤦‍♀️

but the ransom note is so very very odd and makes me question whether it was the parents or someone who knows/works with the John Ramsey very closely

I haven't seen the documentary series yet but I have read about the case. There were sex offenders living in the area and quite similar attempts but the police wanted it to be the family and let a lot of leads go and didn't investigate properly. I will watch it though!

IsThisIt2021 · 25/11/2024 19:00

I was just reading about the documentary. Haven’t yet watched it but do plan on doing so when I get chance. Just seeing her pictures make me feel so sad that she’s never had justice.

I don't understand how it can possibly be anyone except the brother and the parents covered it up. That ransom note was 100% written by the mother and why would the mother cover up the murder of her daughter unless to protect her other child. There just is no other explanation that makes any sense.

He is autistic. Doesn't mean he was a killer

There's plenty of reasons why parents kill their children. I'm not saying they did. I don't know. But Burke is not the only explanation.

Thanks for the heads-up @Itsonlybridgetagain I have seen documentaries on this little girl before - but not for about 20 years. I will watch this later!

No ides who killed her though.

Hohofortherobbers · 25/11/2024 19:20

I've heard a few podcasts on this case and always come back to it being the family. I recall something about watermelon being eaten just before she died, why would a kidnapper stop to feed her watermelon ?

DaliaDay · 25/11/2024 19:20

Is it a new series?

UnitedOps · 25/11/2024 19:23

I haven’t watched this specific documentary but have watched a couple of different ones. The parents lied about quite a few things. They said she was asleep when they got in but in the autopsy it was found that JBR ate pineapple before her death- it was just about digesting. There was a bowl of fresh pineapple and milk on the Ramsey's breakfast room table that had fingerprints on it from Burke and Patsy.

TPJB · 25/11/2024 19:12

Oh I don’t think he’s the killer. It’s absurd to suggest he was capable of all that was inflicted upon her.

IMO it’s most likely one of the sex offenders that was in the area. The sex offender went to their open house and simply hid until it was time to do the crime.

Totally - and there is not a single shred of evidence of an intruder. Something went wrong in the house - fit of rage/accident and in a panic it was (badly) covered up. But they got away with it because police didn't treat it as a crime scene and they were rich and probably didn't seem believable. Strange the 'kidnapper' lol didn't phone between 8am and 10am and yet nobody even took much notice .....no kidnapper writes a 3 page/20 minute letter in the house using pen and paper from the house (established fact) and places them back where they came from .....I will try and watch it but suspect this is a final distracting tactic by John (the dad)

Pineapple. Yes was undigested despite the family saying jonbenet had fallen asleep while travelling home and was carried to bed asleep. Although there was a bowl of pineapple out in the kitchen.

Baggingarea · 25/11/2024 19:26

I need to watch this series.

My two cents:

Everyone always points to the drafts & content of the ransom note and how it was written in the home. And yes that is too weird but the dad ran a billion dollar company. Surely he'd have the sense to say it sounds ridiculous? Or not maybe?

MilitantFawcett · 25/11/2024 19:31

Yes just finished this. I went into this convinced the parents were involved but this has changed my mind. Absolutely shocking how the police lied and withheld evidence, and the media were complicit. My take away is that one can’t be sure how much of what is reported in the papers, even from supposedly reliable sources can be trusted.

Julie168 · 25/11/2024 19:33

What I'm confused about is if it was an intruder why would they leave a ransom note - and then kill her? Also why was the amount exactly the same as the father's bonus?

There was though supposed to be unknown male DNA on her in a couple of places including her underwear and I think they said she had also been sexually assaulted. They new about the DNA way before they released the information to the family or media though because they were still so convinced it was the parents.

The police were a complete disaster.

pooballs · 25/11/2024 19:33

I have started watching this. It’s nice they have included so much footage of Jonbenet when she’s not in all her pageant attire, I’d only really seen the ‘beauty Queen’ photos of her and I think that’s the image ingrained in a lot of peoples minds. It shows the normal little girl she was 99% of the time. It’s such a devastating case. I can’t see how it will ever be solved considering how badly everything was handled, so much evidence must have been lost at the crime scene. It’s sad she will probably never get justice.

Yes I think this must be right. But how on earth could you think of that in the crisis moment?

Pineapple it was , there was other fruit found when the stomach contents were fully gone through. There's a pod which covered the case in depth called the prosecutors, I think it was around 2020 it's a very interesting listen

having watched it all now I don’t think it was the parents or the brother. But it’s one of the strangest heartbreaking cases I’ve ever seen
