Bridgerton Season 3 May 16th binge watch together

I’m not a telly addict but I became obsessed with Bridgerton during Covid times. I love the casting, the settings, the dances, the music, the yearning, and the guarantee of a happy ending.

I’m embarrassed to admit how much I love it in real life because it’s so shallow.

Is anyone else planning to binge watch season 3 when it’s released next Thursday? If so, can we set up a MN support group please?

I'm going to binge. I wish it would hurry up and come back.

I'm debating whether to buy the books or just stick to the series. I think the actors may make the show more enjoyable than the books would.

I have read / listened to some of the books on audio via the library. The storylines are all quite similar so they change some plots for the series. Imo the series is much better.

new netflix teaser has dropped on youtube, behind the scenes.

I find having read all the books makes me more obsessed with it all - I feel more immersed in the world. It does mean i nitpick a bit about the changes they make - but Nicola Coughlan says the Polin storyline hews pretty close to the books which should be excellent. Longing for them to do Benedict's book which is batshit mental.

Read all the books after watching series 1 &2 (also have the audiobooks) I really enjoyed them but I think I love the series more. Colin & Pens book was one of my faves

contemplating taking the day off or the friday so I can just binge it all. I’ve got some flexi time that needs using up

ouch321 · 04/05/2024 21:28

Worth bearing in mind that it's a split release so the other 50% of the series won't appear on Netflix until June

Gladespade · 04/05/2024 21:31

I would love to binge, but they’re only releasing half the episodes next week 😞. Still really looking forward to it though!

So happy I’m not the only one with this dirty little secret 😁. Let’s compare notes on the 16th.

I’m not interested in the books but very interested indeed in Jonathan Bailey and loved the whole Kanthony story in series 2 so can’t wait to see what’s become of them.

TBH although I love Nicola Cochlan I’m really not convinced there’s any chemistry between her character and the guy who plays Colin so far, but let’s wait and see.

I'm not a fan of the new Netflix trend to release series in two parts.

Katieweasel · 05/05/2024 17:24

I'm not saying I've booked the day off work especially but .......

I have the books on kindle. Too embarrassed to read the paperback versions Grin

Worth keeping an eye out for when they drop to 99p.

I like Francesca and Hyacinths books best so looking forward to seeing the start of Frans story this season (her book is about her 2nd marriage so they need to marry her off so she can become a widow and have sexy times then marry no. 2). Hyacinths is quite funny. A lot of the books have questionable aspects and the sex scenes are a bit meh.

The fans on twitter and reddit are really intense particularly when it comes to the casting. At the moment there is lots of speculation about the casting for the love interests for Benedict and Francesca (We have already met Eloise's). And also if it will be Benedict or Eloise next.

I decided there were enough series out now to have a good binge watch, only to discover when series 2 ended that series 3 did not start! Now have to wait for half 1 and even longer for half 2. There were so many adverts, I just assumed it was already on. Very much looking forward to it. Have only done the series, but will have to give books a try too.

ilovesummerdays · 06/05/2024 17:41

I think the books are quite problematic at times, with coercive and sometimes abusive behaviour from men dressed up as 'romance'. And don't get me started on the sex scenes, which would have us believe virgins in the Regency era orgasmed every single time they went to bed after a couple of thrusts.

The TV adaptation is much better, if still cringey at times.

Enjoyed seeing Phoebe Dynevor, Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey (Daphne, Kate and Anthony) at the Met Ball last night.

Just watched the premiere in New York.

Simone Ashley/ Kate definitely wearing the best outfit. She looks like a goddess.

JB is in a white suit Travolta style and looks his usual lovely self, but I don’t fancy him when he isn’t playing Anthony so I’m disappointed.

Penelope / Nicola Coghlan looks atrocious - her dress resembles those wedding dresses you would make out of bog roll for your Barbie. Colin / Luke Newton looks like a bellboy in a tired hotel. So far I haven’t seen anything like the Kate & Anthony chemistry between them but I remain hopeful.

I was going to try to eke them out do I don't have a big gap between part one and part two but I know I'll end up bingeing. I'm just so excited!

KomproMatilda · 14/05/2024 07:48

I had a couple of hours to kill in Bath yesterday - which lead to the revelation (for me at least) that the Holburne Museum was used as Lady Danbury’s home in the TV series. (No obvious connection to the show was apparent while I was there. The Henry Moore miniatures were epic, though.)

(led, not lead!)

motheronthedancefloor · 15/05/2024 08:43

24 hours to go. Hurry up Bridgerton.

Chrysanthemum5 · 15/05/2024 08:47

I may be in the minority but I hated series 2. I've read the books so I know why they changed the plot (because it was so similar to the first story) but it was a ludicrous plot.

I'm looking forward to Penelope and Colin and from the clips I've seen there seems to be chemistry between the leads. Not sure how closely they will stick to the book as Colin is a bit of an arse in the book plot

bringmelaughter · 15/05/2024 18:35

Gutted it’s not released until 8am. My plans to binge watch at midnight are scuppered and I’m in work tomorrow 🙁
