A new series began tonight. Looks like more of the same: kitchen islands and eye-watering overspending ahead.

Ooh yay! Thanks for the heads up!

olddoglover · 21/06/2023 11:59

Absolutely loved the transformation of the house in Enfield yesterday, even though it cost loads. I think Will is a brilliant architect.

Rummikub · 21/06/2023 21:32

New series?

RonSwansonsChair · 21/06/2023 22:40

Yes, it's a new series @Rummikub.

I didn't like it very much last night, preferred the other one. But I knew they'd pick Will's as they got that "reminds me of home".

I really like Angela Scanlan doing this show.

RonSwansonsChair · 21/06/2023 22:41

*reminds me of home feeling!

Rummikub · 21/06/2023 23:26

i love this prog!

i like her too- really lovely way about her.

jay55 · 22/06/2023 07:23

Ooo I'll have to catch up.
Ready for some bonkers tree in the house, bench seating and garden palaces.

icelollycraving · 22/06/2023 07:35

I had to whizz through the couple, I found the squealing too much!

AuntieDolly · 22/06/2023 07:44

Is Robert in it?

ReviewingTheSituation · 22/06/2023 07:46

Whilst it was the family's decision, not the architect's, doing away with the dining table was bonkers. They made a big thing about how important family meals are, all.eating together, having friends round... and now they have to perch around a kitchen island!

Whilst I prefer to watch it on catch up (to fast forward through huge chunks), if you do watch it live, be sure to follow the twitter # at the same time. Always hilarious, and gets all the ridiculousness out in the open.

Still waiting for an episode where they stick to their budget!

icelollycraving · 22/06/2023 07:57

Yes, I thought the same about the table. The other plan showed seating got about 6, which clearly wasn’t going to work. The dining area was great, then no table. I didn’t understand why they flipped it either to the other wall. As I found the woman annoying I had to switch off once I saw the finished result. Did they explain why they changed things?

jay55 · 22/06/2023 12:34

The chairs around the island look the most uncomfortable I've ever seen. I'm getting welts on my bum and back just looking at them.
I really hope they were for staging and not for real life daily use.

It feels reallly bad timing to be going on about the titanic.

I do love the kitchen ceiling.

Freshair1 · 22/06/2023 21:16

It was so naff! The woman was irritating af and there was so much filler and repetition I basically watched the last 10 minutes. Seriously shite programming. The only upside was the space was actually quite dim and cool in lighting so perhaps that's why they didn't stick a dining table in the furthest area.

Bennyjoon · 22/06/2023 22:15

I saw this too. Thought it was bonkers not to have a separate dining table. Also the feature geometric windows looked too small.

redspottedmug · 22/06/2023 22:22

Eat round the island:fine. But why not have the sink in the run of units instead? Who wants to eat next to the sink?!

PriamFarrl · 22/06/2023 22:23

Thanks for the heads up. I love this but had no idea it was on.

Bennyjoon · 22/06/2023 22:27

Yes to the sink!

BiscuitsandPuffin · 22/06/2023 22:30

Oh it was so disappointing this week. Hated the design and felt there was far too much circular waffle after they had it built.

Katjolo · 22/06/2023 22:30

Miss Robert in this!

BiscuitsandPuffin · 22/06/2023 22:32

@Katjolo definitely! I can see why he left though, I think (but may be misremembering) only one couple picked his design in s2.

RonSwansonsChair · 22/06/2023 22:55

I think I saw Laura in the preview clips for this series.

The (American?) Couple who put a bath into their bench, in the kitchen, picked Robert's design.
I'm sure he had more than one pick him, but can't remember others.

For this, in week in the VR, I thought the dining table area looked really dark. So I'm not surprised they went with a TV area instead.

MichaelAndEagle · 23/06/2023 22:45

Not sure what they achieved by swapping the kitchen to the other side? Surely that would have been a massive expensive pain?

But I actually did like it, I thought it was lovely.

Yes Laura is in next week's. I love her.

I agree re the filler - the guff visiting the other places for supposed design symmetry is just fluff BS. I’d rather see more of the build / their thought processes (ie why flip the kitchen / get rid of the dining table). Even though in this episode the woman was annoying!
I miss Robert too 🙁

jay55 · 24/06/2023 14:17

The garden one they have the second, small budget challenge. It would be nice to see something similar.
Someone just getting under stairs storage sorted or something.
