A new series began tonight. Looks like more of the same: kitchen islands and eye-watering overspending ahead.

OP posts:

I think they'll regret not having a utility room, I wonder why the loft conversion they did wasn't part of the programme.

I agree with a PP Lizzie is starting to eclipse Laura in my eyes.

Will is truly mad, love him and love that he totally ignored their daughter - think he was never going to get the commission once he dropped that bombshell!

GrouchyKiwi · 19/07/2023 20:55

Will, like Robert, doesn't think about what it's like to live in the space, which surely is something an architect should do.

I liked the design this week and I'd have kept more of what Lizzie envisaged, but the end result was lovely.

PriamFarrl · 19/07/2023 21:07

I couldn’t believe that Will completely ignored the daughter. His design was pretty enough but didn’t add any practicality. I don’t want to go down gender lines but it seemed clear to me that one of those designers understood the practical problems of running a home in a small house.

Elmrosie · 19/07/2023 21:20

Oooh thanks @WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout, that's a good shout. I actually have a stem vase from there that I couldn't resist when it kept popping up in my Facebook feed. Might pop over there and have a look, I'm in Essex.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 20/07/2023 03:53

I know they have some great stuff - I love a bit of Fishpools 😁

Freshair1 · 20/07/2023 06:39

The entire makeover could have been summarised as 'this clutter and insane amount of toys needs addressing.' ridiculous

EmmaChizzett · 20/07/2023 09:19

I didn't like the new porch, from the glimpse we got of it. The door looked too modern for the style of house.

Wasn't it a three-bedroomed house? If so, why didn't he work upstairs?

And surely they could have stored some of the toys upstairs too.

GrouchyKiwi · 20/07/2023 09:54

I think they both worked from home, so maybe she had the upstairs for her office?

I thought that about the toys.

Cathotels · 20/07/2023 10:13

Did they ever mention what the garden room was for? I couldn’t work out why that wasn’t used as a play space or office

Igotmylipstickon · 20/07/2023 11:02

I'd still love to know how they feed the fish!

For those of you who love Angela Scanlon, she has her own talk show in Ireland https://www.rte.ie/player/series/angela-scanlon-s-ask-me-anything/SI0000011956?epguid=IH000410135

I wondered the same thing!

I really don’t like the presenter, Angela. She’s a sarcastic wee madam.

That’s a why I love her, ha ha. She makes me LOL several times an episode.

Me neither, it was so odd that he was working from that tiny dining table surrounded by toys.

I was also a bit taken aback by Nylah helping with cooking with her feet (in shoes) up on the counter at the beginning!

LadyEloise1 · 20/07/2023 13:34

Angela Scanlon is on one of the most irritating ads on Irish Television for the Irish version of Royal Mail offerings.
So annoying.
I'm delighted she's doing well in the UK - I like an "Irish succeed in British media" story.
Not keen on her fashion choices.

ChocChipHandbag · 20/07/2023 13:38

Does anyone else suspect that Jill Halfpenny was already planning to work with local girl Lindsey anyway, and they just decided to use it for the show and let Will do something bonkers to publicise his own style?

Badger1970 · 20/07/2023 13:48

There's only ever been about 3 projects I've really liked the final result on. They all end up looking very "staged" to me and never as if they've got their own furniture/belongings in.

We work with interior designers and I can now spot their work from a mile off!

Badger1970 · 20/07/2023 13:49

Sorry, press too soon!

Hence the lack of toys etc on last nights. I think the house had been dressed for the show. And probably looks very different in reality.

A cracking theory but does Lynsey practise up there?

Also on the reveal Lynsey says they couldn’t do anything to the front aspect of the house what with restrictions, but much earlier on you see a row of the houses and clearly to the right are ones with loft conversions of sorts at the front.

I’m ( overly ) fascinated as to what goes on behind the scenes on these shows.
Repair Shop and Garden Rescue too.

I think a pp on this thread said she had quoted for their house in Tynemouth?

Yes quite often they could spend a couple of grand on one of those professional declutter people (if they can't face doing it themselves) and they'd save tens of thousands over an extension which will be filled with more crap within a year.

Bennyjoon · 20/07/2023 19:31

I liked this week, I think they made the right choice about the utility area - the kitchen in the original design looked far too cramped. The only thing I would’ve done was put doors where the washing machine/dryer to make it look cleaner, but that’s just my personal preference.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/07/2023 20:10

Anyone around tonight? Will be interesting to see if they stick to their Absolute This Is It budget.

PriamFarrl · 25/07/2023 20:11

I’m watching but about 5 minutes behind.

Does anyone else spend much of the beginning saying ‘tidy your shit up’?

Halsall · 25/07/2023 20:13

This couple do not look on the same page at all.

They must tell them to leave their stuff out, but there's no way I'd let my house be filmed looking like that.
