I’m getting very mixed up with the timelines in this series. Last night Catherine says that she nicked Joanne last week, and yet in The opening episode, she was called to Joanne’s house by Rob. That was the same episode where she said at the start that she had seven months to go til retirement. Never mind aliens, it’s feeling like we’re travelling through time!

TrentCrimm · 30/01/2023 10:51

I'm SO relieved that the lad playing Ryan has turned out to be such a good actor. He was good in series 1 & 2 apart from the lancashire accent but you can never guarantee that child actors stay good as they grow!

Needn't have worried though, he is excellent

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 10:55

She said it was seven months, yet the timelines don't seem to be continuous do they ?
It is odd

Maybe if he had stood up to her she'd have some respect for him maybe ? Another tough call

Yep - If you can't stand up for yourself with your colleagues, how much good are you going to be in really threatening situation? One where you or others are in actual danger?

Catherine pointed out to Teleki that without the support of the other officer he had complained about, he wouldn't have got through his first 3 weeks.

Perhaps it would have been better for everyone if he hadn't.

I agree - and with beetroot chopper guy. You could see TLR reaction to the state of his digs.

In the van, Darius was blowing smoke up TLR ass, until the mention of fixing Catherine. The mood really changed .

The accommodation is insultingly bad. The guy left him standing outside, handed him a four pack of beer, basic room, hideous bedding...it's not a hero's welcome exactly.

I reckon there is no Marbella and Ryan will shop his Dad. Christ only knows bout Faizal, dumb and dumber and Alison.

There is too much for one last episode.

And I fancy Ryan. Please God he's not 16 in real life, I don't want to be a pervert.

Grim. He is 16.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2023 11:01

I'm not sure what wiki play out

Def not going to get to monday and airport unless gonna escape from beetroot man

Catherine retires on Thursday so something has got to pop up before then

So she can retire with a clear mind

Tommy has to due it always gonna be a threat

Ideally Darious to bump him off as he's a liability

Who killed Tommys mum and shoved her in a mixer

Paleshelter · 30/01/2023 11:03

Is that what it was? I definitely heard the BBC announce at least once that it was the last episode, so annoying!

anyoneanyoneanyone · 30/01/2023 11:03

I can't believe how much Ryan looks likes TLR!

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/01/2023 11:04

I thought Tommy's mum was tortured, murdered and hung up in a garage, @Blondeshavemorefun

I'm finding it hard to keep up with the carnage.

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 11:06

Maybe they said ' penultimate one ' On bbc one
I don't know , I only just turned over in time!

BorsetshireBanality · 30/01/2023 11:06

Was TLR’s mother one of Alison’s son’s murder victims?

Paleshelter · 30/01/2023 11:07

Sorry that was supposed to quote @Tilllly who said there was a cock up by the BBC listings!

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 11:07

Tommy's mum was killed and ' bottled '
They thought that Catherine had done it ( she didn't , obviously)
John ( the detective ) did the same to Vicky too make it look like the serial killer who killed her!
That didn't go well

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 11:08

BorsetshireBanality · 30/01/2023 11:06

Was TLR’s mother one of Alison’s son’s murder victims?

I think so
He only said he didn't kill Vicky because he didn't do that one , John did

I like that he's not too polished an actor. He seems like a real teen boy.

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/01/2023 10:04

Oh, thanks, Mama

I'll bring the good biscuits.

I'll get some good ones off my Ringtons man if you like? Best biscuits ever 😜

Testina · 30/01/2023 11:12

@storminabuttercup “Catherine will be the first on the scene as Tommy lays dying and tell him what a despicable c*nt he is”

I think this. I think she’ll have the chance to save him - call an ambulance maybe, or stem the blood flow.

I think instead she’ll sit near him and - maybe without even swearing at him - just tell him that she’s going to let him die.

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 11:15

Spoiler , NOT about HV.

In Tango , the Nicola Walker character ( can't remember her name ) let her abuser die. We didn't see this, but was mentioned a few times
Same writer , maybe a similar ending

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding Catherine. She's had a big shock being backstabbed by her own sister and grandson meeting TLR. She's got it in her head and that's all she's focused on. Like what's going to happen next with Ryan? Is he going to see more of his dad? Think he's a good person? She's been triggered and we see her put her defence on like a brick wall. She's worried about the safety of her family. Yeah Ryan needs love but so does Catherine. She's got no one to rely on for emotional support. She's feels kicked out just like Ryan. Clare her closest family backstabbed her. It will take years to rebuild her trust.

She's let down by her colleagues too. Through all 3 series she's been a step or two ahead of them where tlr is concerned - they keep underestimating him. She'll keeps telling them he's an immediate risk and threat and they think she's exaggerating until he does exactly what she said. So the burden of stopping him is completely on her.
