storm you referring to Faisal as "pfizer" feels really disrespectful
and he's fictional 😂 Except in my mind he obviously isn't. I fee like, woah, he hasn't killed that many people!

I wish they'd do a film screening like they did with Sherlock. Only because I'll be at least a week late to see it. Glad it's a longer episode, it needs to be.

does no one else feel completely betrayed by Claire?

HannaHat · 30/01/2023 09:53

does no one else feel completely betrayed by Claire?

I wouldn't be able to forgive her 🤷🏼‍♀️

RandomersAssociation · 30/01/2023 09:54

JN is rubbish casting. He looks so healthy and wholesome and his eyes are so gentle. He has never not looked like a nice public school chap

It’s true that one wonders how someone who’s been living on prison food, with surely very limited exercise, would suddenly have the energy for a court escape and a long punishing uphill cycle ride against the wind.

But as we saw last night, his unfeasible, intolerable beauty is a huge part of the drama. Kind of like a separate character in itself. Last night, the events we’d been anticipating were played out on the video screen - and if this show were all about running around with a gun, they could have cast anyone. But yesterday was all about what was going on in Ryan and TLR’s heads. So it was extraordinary - millions of viewers mesmerised by JN /TLR’s really extreme loveliness, right up close for several minutes, but at the same time screaming “Don’t tell him, Ryan!”.

Absolute genius writing.

EyesOnThePies · 30/01/2023 10:01

I don’t find TLR attractive at all!

Lips too pillowy and feminine.

Plus JN great acting, putting the psychopath in his eyes

Shudder!

See, you would all be a menace, like TA woman and Claire. Susceptible!

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 10:02

Oh , Nev was Bob ! Didn't realize this. That is a very disturbing film tbh , even if it's seen as a comedy !
I agree that it is all a bit casual
Royce is on the run and they are all out and about ; he gets dropped off at a residential road with houses lining the street , yet nobody is curtain twitching or looking out or anything.
They have all moved to addresses that Royce may have known about ( they know that he had family visitors etc)
It all felt a bit weird , hardly anyone really worried and no nosy neighbours around scary beetroot man

AntonDuPig · 30/01/2023 10:02

And also, as much as my heart broke for our Ryan, I’m still 100% Team Catherine.
She is very real. Her whole being has been shaken to the core by Clare’s betrayal.
The one person she always believed had her back.
This is the one thing she cannot get over.
Now Catherine steels herself against the world as she feels she can trust no one.
Her only now mission is to get to TLR before he gets to Ryan, and “not sit around watching f**king telly”.

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/01/2023 10:04

CuriousMama · 29/01/2023 23:57

I've just bought it. You can all come t mine after HV and watch it 😂

Oh, thanks, Mama

I'll bring the good biscuits.

WeAreTheHeroes · 30/01/2023 10:06

When Catherine told the investigating officers about Joanna's little girls she said "one in infants and one in juniors". Poppy will have been with her mother when she met Faisal at some point in the past before she started school and she will have info on him.

Beetroot guy will understand far more English than he is letting on.

TLR didn't like Darius laughing at him did he? Darius wants rid of him asap, but owes him. I don't think Darius trusts him one iota and may not be telling him the truth about the flight to Malaga and a new life on the Costa del Crime.

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 10:08

Catherine isn't the forgiving sort.
Maybe she had enough of her as an addict in the past and this is just a betrayal too much
Most people I know who like this series all day the same too. Team Catherine over this
Neil is a side issue !

SaySomethingMan · 30/01/2023 10:14

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/01/2023 08:57

Omg you don't think Ryan could die??

WASH OUT YOUR MOUTH!!! 😦

Catherine was so vile to everyone tonight. And the way she mocked Tekeli, all seemed very much out of character for her.

Tekeli is a thick tw*t. In organisations like the police there is a very thin line between bullying and bonding - nicknames, practical jokes etc are part of the bonding process among people who work in very stressful and dangerous environments in the same way that black humour is.

Teleki is going to be in situations on the street where he will need to know that his colleagues have his back - and being prepared to take a joke is an important part of it. In many organisations it's a way of welcoming someone onto the team. I'm not saying it's right, but it helps colleagues get the measure of each other and establish their place in the group. People who stand on their dignity all the time are hard to work with. You've got to be able to have a bit of craic. Teleki's turn this time, someone else's next.

I've been in both work-type situations - bullying and joshing, and there is a difference, in the same way that in families (and police etc are very much "families") there is internal teasing that may look awful from the outside, but is actually an expression of affection.

I'm not defending bullying, but mutual teasing and black humour are the only way that horrific situations can be coped with sometimes.

You’ve given the excuse that most companies that accept a culture of bullying, use as justification.

EmmaEmerald · 30/01/2023 10:14

Randomers but prisons have gyms and we see TLR doing push ups etc all the time, probably does cardio in his cell too. Plus he worked as a labourer, my experience is that kind of enduring strength is...well, enduring!

Hanna Yeah, I'd never speak to her again. There's got to be more to this than bleeding heart.

JemimaPyjamas · 30/01/2023 10:15

Well, my predictions for last night where Richard came a cropper at Catherine's house turned out to be totally wrong.

I found last night's very emotional and actually really felt for TLR, which is bonkers really. I am also thinking that he might actually genuinely love Ryan rather than use him as a means to an end. JN is very good with the way he switches from vulnerable to nasty within seconds.

As soon as the atmosphere in the van changed with Darius I thought 'there's the twist' - guess we will know in 6 loooooong days...

HikingforScenery · 30/01/2023 10:16

Late to the party.

I think TLR’s casting is spot on. He makes my skin crawl. Darius’s character is also very believable so no attraction on this side.

I hope Ryan has a big part to play in TLR’s demise.

Ann was foul to Ryan. She took it too far

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 10:17

The tablets will be found in Jo's jeans leading it back to Faisal.
I was surprised that Rob phoned it in, but even his mum was suspicious of him and been on the end of his temper too , I think that he'll end up in prison for something , hopefully !
I bet he groomed Florence and now trying it on with Poppy too.
I hope they end up with their Nan and grandad

BorsetshireBanality · 30/01/2023 10:20

Twatling · 30/01/2023 09:09

I think the question we all need the answer to is this....

Now that Clare is stopping at Nev's, do you think they'll both sneak off in his car up t'mooooors for a jump?!! Wink

…only if they’ve got some rubber johnnies!

WeAreTheHeroes · 30/01/2023 10:20

I reckon TLR is using Ryan and has no intention of building a new life Spain with him, but every intention of doing something awful to him/hurting Catherine.

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 10:25

Everyone, from day one, have been horrible to Ryan apart from Tommy. Catherine is hard on him.
Richard ( he came round, but only just ) Ros, Daniel , Cesco said his mum didn't like him , Rob had a go about the football etc.
Clare loved him , but she feels bad because of her sister. She helped him, but in the wrong way
Nobody is on his side ,only Tommy
No wonder his conflicted

Crumpetdisappointment · 30/01/2023 10:26

yes catherine has a landrover or something to travel once she is retired, where does that leave Ryan

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/01/2023 10:28

HannaHat · 30/01/2023 09:53

does no one else feel completely betrayed by Claire?

I wouldn't be able to forgive her 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nor would I. Nor would many of us.

People on this forum have gone NC with family members for forgetting to post a birthday card and this betrayal ranks higher than that.

It all felt a bit weird , hardly anyone really worried and no nosy neighbours around scary beetroot man

To be fair 80's - I'm a right nosey ole trout, but if Beetroot Man lived over the road to me I would want to know as little as possible about what the was doing.

Just sayin' 😬

Snugglepiggy · 30/01/2023 10:29

I don't mind the subplot of Fsisal and Joanne. The title HV alludes to the area flooded in drugs. And in contrast to Ashley with his bags of coccaine hidden in trucks of building materials it links the OCG to the proffessional aspirational middle class like Faisal a pharmacist to that side of drug addiction.
And yes TLR does look cleaner and more wholesome after escape but he's been scrubbed up for court, working out and fed in prison. In series 1 he was living rough hiding out with Anne,in the caravan etc.I still find him totally menancing.
.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 30/01/2023 10:31

I am also thinking that he might actually genuinely love Ryan rather than use him as a means to an end.

Yeah, as much as he's capable of loving someone, I think he does love Ryan. He has a soppy look on his face when talking to him that seeems genuine. Obviously if they were actually living together in Spain he'd turn out to be an arse to him too though., especially when he reached full adulthood. I don't think TLR is capable of having a non-violent relationship. He seemed genuinely upset when his mum died but he used to punch her in the face, so...

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/01/2023 10:35

SaySomethingMan · 30/01/2023 10:14

You’ve given the excuse that most companies that accept a culture of bullying, use as justification.

Don't think I don't know it.

But it's true - and as I said, it's a very fine line. As I said - I've been in both situations. One job I had to leave because the bullying was so appalling, so I do know it's serious, but there are also situations where you have to be able to take it (and give it back). What is stress relief in a murder squad would be bullying in a typing pool.

There are some jobs where you can literally be relying on your co-workers to keep you alive. You have to know that they've got the bottle to stand up for themselves and for you. Who would you want watching your back? Catherine to Teleki?

Emotionalsupportviper · 30/01/2023 10:39

*or, not to

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 10:40

We had some dodgy neighbours once and kept out of their way , but I was surprised he was outside , banging on doors with a raised voice going down the alley way and still nobody looked out ! It was a road with lots of houses , which also surprised me too , not the place for a safe house !! ( not that I know much about them !)

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 10:45

When she was asking about an ' allo ' officer in that meeting last week, they were all sniggering a lot! Teleki was oblivious to it all
Says a lot about him I think and his meant to be a policeman.
I can see why he feels his being picked on, but so were the others too and nobody told him it was a wind up did they ? Or come clean.
She can be blunt with people, but he should just stand up to her and think ' well, she's going soon ' although I can see both sides. Maybe if he had stood up to her she'd have some respect for him maybe ? Another tough call
