Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

Where did you watch it?

ToughTittyWhompus · 09/12/2021 12:09

NowTV has the first two episodes on.

I saw it coming but SJP really knocked it out of the park and made me bawl.

Lucythewonderdog · 09/12/2021 12:13

Ugh what the fuck has happened to Miranda? 😩😩😩

Steve is still bloody pointless.

Loving it so far, I need more episodes!

ReeseWitherfork · 09/12/2021 12:14

Yes she really did. I thought the build up Lily and the piano was because he was headed to masterbate after their earlier conversation. How naive of me!

Loved Susan Sharon at the funeral! Saying it how it was re how Big had treated Carrie. Then the whole “I forgive you” stuff when Carrie had no idea what she was going on about. 😂😂😂

ReeseWitherfork · 09/12/2021 12:29

Wonder if it was because Carrie rejected the cashmere scarf 😅

Youdoyoutoday · 09/12/2021 12:35

That build up with the piano!!! Wow!!

But overall so far, I'm not sure. I've just finished watching episode 2 and Carrie is coming across really selfish again, she's said a couple of lines that I thought were really selfishly insensitive.
Miranda is coming across as a silly old woman (plus being set up to be an alcoholic) who keeps putting her foot in it and Steve is still useless and now why deaf?
Charlotte still seems to the princess soriety girl with her fawning over LTW and wanting her girls in floral.

I'm glad they didn't kill off Samantha completely, I think it was explained well, with a slight dig at reality. The flowers were a nice touch though, very Samantha, I thought.

trickytrudy · 09/12/2021 12:55

Did not see that coming. Burst into tears and then it ended with Candi Staton, bloody hell.

The Samantha fall out definitely echoed the real life fall out. Carries facial expressions, the 'we tried' to work it out, the bit about financial gains.

It did start off a bit animated though.

Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 09/12/2021 12:57

I bawled and then especially seeing Stanford....

trickytrudy · 09/12/2021 12:58

@Youdoyoutoday agree about Carrie. At the lunch in the first episode she wasn't even engaged with Miranda and Charlotte. Typical, when it's not about her.

I've got to mention...the Big masturbating but. Nope. It's not what him and Carrie do (for our eyes)

chiefcha · 09/12/2021 13:02

Why did Carrie just stand there? Why didn't she call an ambulance? I found that a bit unrealistic.

The title is horrible - the turquoise italics look like something from Windows movie maker. Really weird.

ToughTittyWhompus · 09/12/2021 13:18

What are they doing about Stanford, have they said?

Youdoyoutoday · 09/12/2021 13:23

@chiefcha carrie is useless in an emergency!! She could have called an ambulance!! But her comments "what am I going to do now?" When Mr Big was still in a body bag in the apartment Shock

Didn't like the whole molly coddling either! Miranda and Charlotte have families to look after but taking it in turns to sleep over at Carrie's

Lucythewonderdog · 09/12/2021 13:27

The Telegraph aren’t impressed.

TowandaForever · 09/12/2021 13:29

Hate how stupid they are making Miranda. Hate how she's being written.

Carrie and all her possessions seems out of step with todays concerns for the environment.

Steve seems croaky and unwell.

Who was the women at the funeral who was forgiving Carrie?

TowandaForever · 09/12/2021 13:30

And yes why didn't she call an ambulance?!

I think The article is behind a paywall.

ReeseWitherfork · 09/12/2021 13:37

I feel like Miranda always had little awkward moments. Some insecurities behind the tough outside. But I think the "drinking problem" might be taking it a step too far.

The general wokeness bothered me. I feel like the POC were included as diversity stunts, and I'm really not sure on the Sara Ramirez thing. Winced a bit when she introduced Carrie as "cisgender".

But Carrie being awkward on the podcast, and Miranda saying she "never knows the right thing to say in this climate" did claw it back a bit.

I read it ok and I don’t subscribe.

Youdoyoutoday · 09/12/2021 13:47

I agree with that article.

Not sure about all the wokism too, it was a bit much for me, not sure if I'm just vanilla or just bored of it! I think it's the latter!

chiefcha · 09/12/2021 13:53

I think they're trying really hard to make up for the 2nd film.

Does anybody else think they're gearing up for miranda to question her sexuality and come out as bisexual?

Youdoyoutoday · 09/12/2021 13:55

Probably!

ToughTittyWhompus · 09/12/2021 14:02

The podcast part was cringe AF. Awful.

trickytrudy · 09/12/2021 14:02

That didn't occur to me but there were hints she might have a drink problem?
Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 09/12/2021 14:03

Watching Brady nutting his girlfriend made me feel old and weird too...
