Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

Few random thoughts-

Why is Steve almost deaf?

Why has Miranda turned into such a mess? She was so confident in the original series.

All the Instagram/podcast/gender identity/pandemic etc stuff seemed like they were trying to shoe-horn too much in to make it feel modern. It felt forced.

Is Carrie really still writing a sex column in her mid-late fifties?

The masturbation scene was cringey.

I want her walk-in-wardrobe/dressing room.

I’m so cross that they killed off Mr. Big.

Kristin Davis’ face was very distracting. Why did she do that to herself?

Who asks to split a croque monsieur?

All the going on about the chips annoyed me. Especially LWT arriving and randomly eating cold chips belonging to someone she had never met.

Stanford and Anthony should have had a spin-off.

Great to see Bitsy Von Muffling again. At the very start she met them and said she’d lost touch with so many people because of the pandemic. Then at the funeral she says Bobby died 18 months ago- surely she’s have either mentioned this when she met Carrie and Co at the restaurant, or they’d have sympathised with her if they knew he died?

Delighted to see Susan Sharon again.

I thought Evan Handler (Harry) looked very unwell. Hope he’s ok.

Brady kind of creeped me out.

Will there be more about Big’s secretary? She kind of seemed shoe-horned in too.

The observations that Miranda has lost confidence etc it happens to women during menopause.

Why has Miranda turned into such a mess? She was so confident in the original series.
I thought she was always prone to a few awkward moments. But few and far between, maybe not her entire personality!

I’ve only watch the first episode but I feel like they are trying to shoehorn too much into the new series to appeal to a different/younger audience but they have done it in a cringe way just like when your mum/dad tries to be cool.

Oh my god, I'm so glad I've found this thread!!! I am livid how they've turned Miranda into someone awkward and silly – she was always too self-aware/self-critical to ever put a foot wrong in a professional setting, so there's no way she'd have screwed up her first day at college being a closet racist/terf! And Steve's like a hobbling old man now! They're only 55!!!

DaisyNGO I thought that too – and Carrie will end up going full circle back to her apartment, because they made a big deal of her still having it.

Also, why have they made Stanford so nasty? He was never the bitchy one but he was pretty awful throughout.

My thoughts pretty much echo everyone else's.

Shots fired at Kim Cattrall but sort of clawed it back second episode.

The wokeness was too much. Instagram, podcast, non-binary etc was all just too forced.

What have they done to Miranda? Hating her scenes and setting her up to have an alcohol problem. Why is Steve deaf?

What has Kristin David done to her face? Think they are setting Rose up for her own storyline.

Carrie still awful but amazing hair and apartment.

It was sort of picking up towards end of second episode but I don't think it flowed properly to start.

Gloria was also called Gloria in Friends. Maybe they're going to mash both series and Carrie, destitute from collapse of Big's Bitcoin foray has to waitress in Central Perk whilst Rachel buys Heaven on Fourth!

It’s her lips - if she took the filler out she would look fine but when people mess with their lips it NEVER looks natural and it’s so distracting. I remember Sharon osbourne saying the only thing she wouldn’t touch is her lips as it never looks good and she is right. Carries is the best actress and the most natural of them so far

It is taking the piss out of the woke....or am I the only one seeing that and it's in my head?

I have watched the second one now. I think it's extremely well done, especially the social commentary. The grief vampires at the funerals fit exactly with what my experiences.

I completely understand Carrie saying "what am I going to do now". i think a pp called it selfish but I heard it as despair?

The only thing was I would have written in a gap of a few days where Carrie couldn't function. But they might go for the Two and Half Men option - Alan having a breakdown weeks after his brother died. That was heartbreaking.

I do wonder why Miranda can't just carry a hip flask like the rest of us.

Steve is going to be very ill, isn't he.

I liked this photo of SJP with Matthew Broderick and their son James at the premiere.

I’ve never seen anyone look like more of a mix of their parents. He’s Broderick from the nose up, and Parker from there down.
