Starts on Friday on Amazon Prime, with Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy and other well-known names.

Trailer and review makes it sound intriguing and I love the first season of Big Little Lies so I'll definitely be watching!

Tony. That’s it

Oh was he.

Obv I was observant

Ulysses · 20/09/2021 15:39

Tony was Frances’ Fabio-esque admirer who quoted her first book!

I’ve got the same opinion about Melissa McCarthy too @charliebear78. She looks fantastic in this.

I had to google who was doing the singing. I thought it might have been Nicole K herself as she did the theme doing for The Undoing and it sounded similar. It’s not though.

The soundtrack has been great😃

When Lars slipped into his real Welsh accent was that part of the script?

My Polish friend walked in whilst NK was making a long speech and asked me if I was watching a Russian show! Her accent must be good. Apparently she never came out of character all the way through filming and didnt socialise with the others. I wonder if thats what shes like in real life?

TopBlogger · 21/09/2021 13:35

I thought it was Carmen with a fake beard who shot Masha, my imagination was obvs ahead of me Grin

Donutdisaster · 21/09/2021 23:27

OMG I've just noticed NKs right ear - it's bloody freaky!!!! Look at her right ear when she is sitting on the edge of the cliff with Frances, it looks detached and we'll, deformed.

Is it all the facelifts I wonder???

EachandEveryone · 22/09/2021 10:07

I thought it was part of the props!

charliebear78 · 22/09/2021 11:12

During that scene all I could do was stare at her earlobes...I'm glad someone else noticed.
She is pretty but so thin and that white dress didn't help!

faithfulbird20 · 22/09/2021 12:38

I didn't enjoy the last episode. Felt like something was missing and needed more substance.

FlyingFlamingo · 22/09/2021 21:10

I’m on episode 6 and I have a question…what did Masha whisper during the birthday scene when the dead twin appeared? For some unknown reason the subtitles for this are coming up in German on my TV (no idea why, it’s set to English Confused) so when she’s speaking Russian I have no idea what she’s saying!

Donutdisaster · 22/09/2021 23:52

Just seen the last episode and its nothing like the book. Very disappointing

Ohhh I did wonder how the book ending would fit with where we are…
Egghead68 · 23/09/2021 17:44

Eight hours of my life I won’t get back.

Aryavinalaff · 23/09/2021 20:27

Just watched the last episode. It’s nice to look at but it’s just left me feeling hollow and thinking exactly the same, what a waste of my time. Melissa McCarthy was rather engaging to me as always and I like the puppy but other than that massively forgettable.

Newgirls · 23/09/2021 22:04

It was pretty much like the book but with the emphasis on Masha more.

Don’t remember the young couples ending like that at all but quite liked it

JacquelineCarlyle · 23/09/2021 23:06

I've just finished watching it and really enjoyed it. Thought the ending was good although don't remember the young couple taking over from Masha in the book!

SequinsandStiIettos · 24/09/2021 00:21

Well, I liked it.
The book, from what I remember, upped the ante with the simulated fire. Masha was being portrayed as having really lost it and the book became melodrama and I hated it. It turned out they were never locked in at all in the book... nothing to fear except fear itself. Masha had lost a son, not in an RTA but accidental hanging on room blinds. The twist was she had another son, was pregnant iirc when first died, but was so wrought with grief she could not take care of him and was estranged with the father hoping they would reconcile one day. But it has been ages since I read it. Frances got the happy end, Reader, I married him. The young couple had an amicable separation not setting up budiness/taking over Tranquilium.
I thought this was far, far better. It moved me and was far more subtle. I don't feel I wasted 8 hours, just think it could have been done in six but it was a decent adaptation from a book, where the tone was all over the place.

JacquelineCarlyle · 24/09/2021 00:23

I'd forgotten those from the book @SequinsandStiIettos but remember those endings now that you've said it!

I agree, I preferred the TV show endings to the book!

SequinsandStiIettos · 24/09/2021 00:37

It's funny jacqui isn't it - some expecting psychodrama/fruitloops ending/murder etc will go damp squib. Those with the lowest expectations me will go better as a character study/look at where we will go to eliminate pain and come to terms with loss.

Newgirls · 24/09/2021 08:15

Agree. I was keen to watch each episode each week which is a good sign. It was much quieter than lots of thrillers - more believable.

charliebear78 · 24/09/2021 09:42

I didn't really know what to think about this when I first started it.
I was almost ready to give up.
The last 3 episodes really drew me in and I started to enjoy it.
Good acting, great humor and characters.
The reveal that carmel was actually the shooter to be rather daft but it didn't spoil it.
Overall enjoyed it more than I thought I would have.

Ulysses · 24/09/2021 14:05

I found the ending heartwarming. I suppose if you're coming after watching Big Little Lies you might have been expecting a whodunnit kind of ending and you'd wonder what the point of it all was.

One of those occasions where the TV show was better than the book.

JacquelineCarlyle · 24/09/2021 14:21

I agree @Ulysses - TV show was definitely better than the book!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2021 21:28

Ok. I thought ending was good

Yes she went a little nutty.

But she got to see her daughter and that was the whole point of the drugs

But they all in the simulated fire realised what they wanted

I’m so bad with names

Rich couple wanted to help others so took over the retreat

Lars got back with bf and became a dad

Bearded bloke reunited with his kids

In a relationship with author who wrote a new book

The marchinis now at peace with their sons suicide

Or that’s how I interpreted it

Autumngoldleaf · 24/09/2021 23:48

I really enjoyed it!!
Great ending I found it satisfactory, not crazy etc.. Yes crazy everyone is at the edge not crazy masha is what ever

GoofyIsACow · 24/09/2021 23:51

I liked the book but two episodes in to the tv show and thought it was dreadful... should I persevere?
