Nine Perfect Strangers - same author as Big Little Lies - anyone going to watch?

Starts on Friday on Amazon Prime, with Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy and other well-known names.

Trailer and review makes it sound intriguing and I love the first season of Big Little Lies so I'll definitely be watching!

I wouldn’t bother @goofyisacow. I don’t think it gets any better. Some people enjoyed it though.

I really enjoyed it @GoofyIsACow and thought it was better than the book although it was a bit slow so I enjoyed binge watching it.

Well, I liked it. The book, from what I remember, upped the ante with the simulated fire. Masha was being portrayed as having really lost it and the book became melodrama and I hated it. It turned out they were never locked in at all in the book... nothing to fear except fear itself. Masha had lost a son, not in an RTA but accidental hanging on room blinds. The twist was she had another son, was pregnant iirc when first died, but was so wrought with grief she could not take care of him and was estranged with the father hoping they would reconcile one day. But it has been ages since I read it. Frances got the happy end, Reader, I married him. The young couple had an amicable separation not setting up budiness/taking over Tranquilium. I thought this was far, far better. It moved me and was far more subtle. I don't feel I wasted 8 hours, just think it could have been done in six but it was a decent adaptation from a book, where the tone was all over the place.

I'm enjoying Vigil, I struggle to follow the thick Scottish accents at times though but I'm a bit hard of hearing does make me feel a bit breathless when there's tight/claustrophobic bits!

Found Big Little Lies (tv) really dull.

I haven't read the Book but I really enjoyed this series. It made me cry a few times! I liked how slow it was and there were quite a few twists and turns I didn't see coming. I was intrigued to see how it would turn out and although the ending was a bit too neat, I still found it very watchable!

Me too - some of it was both heart-breaking, and heart-warming.

The music as well- espeically the song over the final credits.

Was the drive away with her daughter some kind of fantasy for her, I wonder?

my take was...

she was using the clients to test drive the right combination of drugs to reach her child... she mastered it in that final episode .. so sold up to the Lottery couple... and left in the yellow sports car to share her medicated 'utopia' with her daughter ..

it was great 🎉

the song over the final credits was Keith Urban.. her husband ☺️

Right - I (think) I understand now..... I did rahyer think that her daughter was "imaginary" - or maybe that whole ending scene was.....

Lovely that they all seemed to get their own happy endings too; which seemed more "real" than Masha's.

Yes I looked up the song - been playing it on repeat. Just my kind of thing, and worked well in this setting.
