Loki (Disney+ starting June 11): MCU fans assemble!

Loki starts on Disney+ on June 11!

I know it’s a way away but I thought I’d start a thread for pre-amble pondering discussion seeing as Falcon and the Winter Soldier is over now and we no longer have a weekly MCU fix for a while!

Sometimes I’m wary of trailers, I don’t like to know too many details in advance, but this is good, it doesn’t spoil anything just nicely teases the theme and tone, and looks to be some good chemistry between Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson.

I really like how WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and now Loki are all so different in feel.

Oh and if you’re not a MCU addict want to catch up with the story so far, then this article lists which movies to watch beforehand (nine of them!!!) but really, you could just watch two - the first Thor and Avengers movies, and then jump to Loki from there and you’d be in the same place as our protagonist. It’d be really interesting to hear that perspective actually!

I love Loki. He is my guilty pleasure I have been impatiently waiting and watching all the other series waiting for Loki to drop!

He’s my favourite not avenger. I’m almost a bit sad we won’t get the later Loki as his final scene with Thor had me sobbing but the version of Loki we should be getting is the reason I love him.

LemonViolet · 25/04/2021 08:11

I’m thinking we should get a nice re-(re?)-redemption arc for him?

Love this

LemonViolet · 25/04/2021 08:31

Haha that is fun. I can only imagine how exciting it would have been to be in that hall! Tom Hiddleston is good isn’t he. Apart from MCU stuff I love him in Crimson Peak and Only Lovers Left Alive, I recommend both those films.

Is that Nat sat with him on the log, surrounded by water? Can only see the backs of their heads.

My big issue with this offering is that Avengers Assemble Loki is an unredeemed mass murderer who had just tried to enslave Earth. And now its hijinks? Not sure! Not sure he was ever really redeemed in the main MCU continuity either, but I'm still going to watch it Smile

Place-marking!

I love Loki - even evil Loki is great - he brings much needed sarcasm & levity to what could be very dry characters. Tom has really taken the role & made it his. For those unaware, Tom actually auditioned for Thor - so glad he got Loki instead:

iklboo · 25/04/2021 10:44

Waiting with bated breath for the return of Tom Higgledy-Piggledy as Loki.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 25/04/2021 10:49

Looking forward to this!! Shame about the wait. Be weird going back to original Loki seeing how he changed. More fun though

exLtEveDallas · 25/04/2021 16:25

@ILoveYou3000. If it’s true to the comics, that’s not Nat, it’s Lady Loki.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 25/04/2021 17:07

Woop! Place marking.

LemonViolet · 27/04/2021 07:10

I’d like to see more Asgardians. I liked it in Agents of Shield when we saw Lady Sif and others. Apparently Sif is back in the next Thor movie as well.

Absolutely adore Loki. Our weekly MCU fix is the only programme our family meet to watch!
2 teenagers - never see them otherwise 😁

I'm quite looking forward to Hawkeye too, and the Black Widow film.

MyFloorIsLava · 27/04/2021 12:29

I'm hoping the Ms Marvel series is vaguely child friendly. DD loves Ms Marvel in the Marvel Rising animated series and we read the Ms Marvel Vol 1 comic together.

I still maintain that Agents Of Shield was underrated and treated badly Grin

LemonViolet · 27/04/2021 20:59

I haven’t seen all of AoS yet; I am still working through an entire MCU rewatch on this schedule www.digitalspy.com/movies/a825774/marvel-cinematic-universe-in-chronological-order/ and am currently flitting between Daredevil and Luke Cage. But I have very much enjoyed what I have seen of AoS so far. I love FitzSimmons so much. And Philip, son of Coul, is just flipping awesome.

I'm also looking forward to this. Loki is the only role I like Tom Hiddleston in. He always looks like he's having a ball

MyFloorIsLava · 06/05/2021 20:32

Did you see they've moved the start date from Friday 11th to Wednesday 9th June? I would guess that's because otherwise the Loki finale would clash with the Black Widow release on Disney+ as well as cinema and they don't want to divide their audience.

LemonViolet · 06/05/2021 20:39

Whoo! 2 days less to wait :-)

Wednesday night works for me for Loki day :)

RHTawneyonabus · 06/05/2021 20:43

Bit worried from what I can see of the trailer Loki will basically be like a bad Dr Who travelling through time to solve problems? Not sure if that will be good or not but I alway though he should have is own movie so looking forward to seeing this.

ToastieSnowy · 06/05/2021 22:57

I’m amused that Wednesday is Odin’s day and Loki has pinched it. I’m looking forward to the series to see what Loki gets up to as Tom Hiddleston plays him so well, perhaps Loki will finally get into the marvel montages after this series too as they always seem to miss him out.

iklboo · 07/05/2021 10:00

He's not so much solving problems as having to put right what went wrong when he stole the Tesseract as a punishment. Fingers crossed it will be good & not cheesy.

SingToTheSky · 07/05/2021 10:03

Ooh thanks for posting this. Hope you don’t mind me jumping on as I’m not a marvel fan for the most part 😳 but can anyone tell me which of the series on Disney+ are ok for an 11 year old please? He’s been watching his way through the films with DH.

SingToTheSky · 07/05/2021 10:03

I’m amused that Wednesday is Odin’s day and Loki has pinched it. :o That’s brilliant

ToastieSnowy · 07/05/2021 18:43

My 12 year old DS enjoyed The Falcon & The Winter Soldier (as did I) but this is set after Avengers: End Game movie.

The Mandalorian is a fabulous series too . In fact it’s the reason I got Disney+ as we’re both Star Wars fans.
